I see why it's called boot camp, I was drained at the end of each day. Patti provided several helpful study techniques and also showed us around the website and all its tools. I actually did not pick up my study material for over a month after camp. I started studying again about a week before the exam which I took in mid-January. While I don't recommend this approach (I'm a crammer!), it worked for me and I passed the PMP with flying colors. I would not have been able to grasp all the material on my own, at least not in the few weeks I put towards learning it. I'd actually say this boot camp over prepared me for the exam and I'm am gladly applying what I learned at work.

Patti Layne was a great instructor and was very easy to follow on the context, and the setting of the classroom was very comfortable. It is four days of learning at a fast pace but it was definitely worth it! I passed my PMP test on the first try! If you are even consideering taking this course, just do it! Well worth the time, money and effort!

In the class, I learned about new test-taking strategies, and I got a good review of all of the topics on the test. Most importantly, though, I got exposure to practice materials consistently throughout the course. I had to miss a few classes due to preexisting plans, and Testmasters was very flexible. They gave me access to the online course videos for the days that I missed so I could catch up on my own time. The teachers in the class were all really interesting, funny, and engaging. They knew my classmates and I were on vacation, so they put in a lot of effort to make the classes fun. Each day, lessons were filled with games and joke, but, even though we kept things casual and had a good time, the course was still super informative. (Testmasters also lightened the mood by bringing pizza or candy to each class, something they do for all of their courses.) Güs and Askari really stood out to me as excellent teachers. They knew their material well, and they kept class fun and exciting. For standardized testing, I believe that practice makes perfect, and I'm sure Testmasters would agree with me. Included with my course was Exam Club, a weekend service where you can go to a Testmasters location and take a practice ACT or SAT. Between the end of my course and when I took my ACT (February) I went to Exam Club every weekend possible. Each week, I saw my score go up a bit. I ended up getting a perfect 36 on the ACT thanks to Testmasters, and I would recommend their course to anyone looking for a standardized test prep program.

I attended the classes and realized that you can just get the same information from YOUTUBE. There was one tutor who was consistently late to the classes he taught and did not truly care about the "concepts" he was supposed to teach. He was on his phone the majority of the time. I also had the pleasure of ended my course with him and he just gave up before the full tutor session was over. He did not go in depth with the math concepts or explain how to even solve a problem. Do not sign up for this. You are wasting your money and time, go to a better course. They also do not give you a refund if you do not get your guaranteed 200+ score, only offering you extra classes. How is the extra classes supposed to help if the classes I paid for didn't even improve my score?

The college application process and landscape have changed so much since I was a college applicant,…read moreI wanted to make sure my son would be prepared for the challenge. I had colleges in mind for my son but I needed a third party who is familiar with the process and have resources to elevate him as a strong candidate. I also needed someone to coach him so that I end up not being a "nag" essentially. I felt confident after interviewing and researching several college application counseling services that Ivy Scholars was the one. What I liked about Ivy Scholars was their bespoke approach to coaching the candidate. It was one on one which I truly loved - Not some group in a conference room discussing your child and giving vague ideas of how to build your candidacy. I felt Ivy Scholars focused on the individual candidate. Meeting with Sasha was great, instant confidence. I reviewed his team and they were all very professional and very qualified. It offered candidacy building, test prep, and essay and application help. Everything I was looking for. I had a lot of trepidation about spending money (it is expensive, they all are) on college applications but I felt it would help my son. I needed help as a parent. Well, it was well worth it. Actually I would say Ivy Scholars helped my son beyond what I expected. Daniel Schriever was my son's weekly coach and counselor. He was patient, thoughtful, and really talented. He took the time to learn my son's personality - strengths and weaknesses. My son was not the most organized - typical teenage boy. He worked with him and learned of his passions and interests and helped him get an internship that he loved. It fit right in with his interests. He helped him connect with a research mentor (Dr Len) and he was able to submit his research for publication. As for the college application process, well, my son, out of the blue, wanted to apply to the service academies. That is a whole another beast of a process. Daniel helped with 16 college applications and three service academy applications. The essays, the college app, coached him on military panel interviews as well as congressional nomination interviews. So now we have a problem - a good problem to have, we never expected. He got accepted to UT Austin early action as an out of state applicant. They had 140,000 applicants this year - 95% deferred, and only 10% is out of state. He is a national Air Force ROTC Scholarship recipient as well as Army ROTC Scholarship recipient. He received an appointment to the United States Military Academy (West Point) with three Congressional nominations. He also got accepted to 11 other colleges of which they are rewarding him with scholarships. Thank you Dr Daniel, Sasha, Dr Len and Team

My first (and only) day there, I sat in on a SAT prep class. The teacher had trouble solving some of the problems and the istudents seemed bewildered. To make matters worse, the teachers berated students who had difficulty solving the problems. I have never seen anything like that in all my 15 years of teaching. At the end of the day, I tried to confirm with the head of the school (the person who hired me at $5000 per month) that my salary would be $5000 per month. He said, 'No your salary is going to be $25 per hour.' Not bad, but not close to the promised and confirmed $5000 per month. I had had enough, and I told the head of school that I was not interested in working at Van Houston. Incredibly, a few days later, I got an email from the school falsely saying that I was not selected for the job! I believe they did this so that they could deflect any bad reviews such as this one. The school building is not in good condition. For example, the a/c did not seem to be working well and the classroom I was in got very warm. There might have been drinking fountains, but I did not see any. There also did not appear to be a paper towel dispenser or an air dryer in the boys restroom.

With that being said, I am sad to say that my experience has not been the very best. It was hard for us to set up/ and confirm appointments because I work and she was busy (she had a baby a couple months ago, so I think that triggered a lot of it). But I had to do 6 hours with her because she said that was the minimum and we broke these up into a couple of sessions. I also live in Houston so it was a trek getting out there to Stafford, so I usually give myself an hour before our sessions to arrive early and prepare. Among these times, I don't think there was one time where she was on time, nevertheless early. I would soon learn to bring something to do in the parking lot or do her homework while waiting. During our sessions her phone would constantly be on, and she would be texting and taking up phone calls which was a bit distracting for me (given, I believe most were from her parents regarding her baby). And there were times where I noticed she was setting up future tutorials which made me wonder why she was not as quick to respond to my requests. There were also issues for me where before my session ends, kids would be coming in to ask her questions, asking her about this and that, sharpening their pencils in the machine, etc. so our session would end early, or I was eager to get of there and let her deal with her incoming students. I have since then taken Kaplan and compared the two styles regarding GRE math; Shahin will teach you the quickest method to solve algebraically, where Kaplan teaches you that not all problems need to be fully solved, but to assess the problem and try to come up with an answer. I preferred the latter (Kaplan), but in all honestly I think that's just a personal preference.

I did the PMP course by Bill Holmes with Project Management Academy. Literally during class I got just about every question wrong - I was that person. Bill is hands down the best instructor for any courseware I've taken online or in-person. Even with me getting so many questions actively wrong in class from me being an extrovert - he never made me feel bad about it. Up until the hour before I took the exam I nervously asked him about calculations I was fuzzy about. He answered back immediately with two paragraphs of info on my question. I passed on the first try a month after the class ended. If you do what Bill says you need to do, have a solid background in project management (you'll need this 100% for the intuition necessary for the exam), use the Question & Answer feature on Project Management Academy's website (super helpful!!) and try to do this on a daily basis (sometimes I skipped a day and doubled up on the next day), try to test yourself once a week to assess your learning status with PMA's Practice test feature you get access to once you sign up for a course? No guarantees but I'd bet some money on that you'd pass the exam. That's what I did and I am not some brilliant person. I really hope - I can't find it - but I hope they have a PgMP course because I want to tackle that next!! I am so appreciative to PMA and Bill Holmes! I still am shocked I passed!!
