ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE OF A SCHOOL!!!! My toddler was enrolled…read morehere for THIRTY days! I should have read the poor reviews before considering this school. From the very beginning it was chaotic. At orientation the principal announces that the pre-k teacher was no longer employed, and they were putting in two interim teachers who had been with the school for years. School started the following week so of course by this time it's too late to find your child a different placement. First week of school both interim teachers quit in the middle of the week, which led to two pre-k classes being combined and being taught by the teacher's aide. They then hired an uncertified "pre-k teacher" with only a high school diploma. Of course I wanted to meet her so I walk my child into the classroom and the new teacher just stands there, not even attempting to greet me or my child. After standing there for several minutes I decided to go ahead and introduce myself and my child. Second week of school I notice my child's lunch keeps coming home untouched, which was odd because I packed all his favorite foods. I then realized the school was not assisting him in opening the containers, so he was going from 7:45am-5:45pm with no food just a snack. When I brought this to the staff's attention, they denied not opening the containers, however, after that conversation I noticed his containers would come back with the food eaten. The following week I noticed when he would have toileting accidents, he would come home in someone else's pull-up even though I would pack additional underwear and pull-ups in his backpack. One day I picked him up from school and he reeked of urine. When I changed his clothes, I noticed he had on a dry pull-up, was put back in the urinated pants, but his change of clothes was still in his backpack. On his fourth week, the school had the audacity to call CPS on my family with claims of physical abuse. On this day I went to the school to pick up my child and was approached by a CPS investigator. Two nights prior my toddler decides to climb into my infant's activity chair and gets his legs stuck inside causing a bruise on his legs. Thank goodness I have cameras throughout my home and was able to share the video footage of the incident from start to finish with the investigator where it shows how it took me five minutes to pry him out of the chair, and me putting ice packs on his legs to try and reduce the swelling and bruising. The investigators statement was "this was just a boy being a boy," (my exact thoughts). However, the thought of what could have happened had I not had that footage is devastating. Not to mention both my fiancé and I hold professional state licenses working with children. The issues this could have caused us professionally had we not had video proof is insurmountable. To add more to the embarrassment and humiliation the investigator had to do her due diligence of contacting my nanny and other friends of the family for statements. If you are a parent looking for a nurturing, positive learning environment where your child will flourish and has a low staff turnover, I recommend finding a school with trained, certified, and professional staff.

Since replacing the executive director and head of school in 2023 this school has gone downhill and…read morehas lost the majority of their staff and student turnover is very high. There was zero teaching and principal experience with the replacement and would barely qualify as a kindergarten teacher in the public system. They openly talk about underpaying teachers which explains the lack of quality in how they teach. The executive director is extremely arrogant and rude and criticized our student in the most demeaning way via email that would cost any public school employee their job. I would research the qualifications of the new head of school before considering West Lake. I don't see the value in paying $18,000 for a school that is run by someone that is nowhere near qualified.

When I first started, I was a little hesitant being this was my child's first childcare but I was greeted by the amazing management team Claudia, Tina, and Linda. I would come in, and Linda would always assure me that it might start off rough but it would get better. Her constant checks on my daughter eased my worries. Unfortunately, today I have been informed that she is no longer apart of the building, which is so sad to hear. Certainly she was not fired for anything if she was allowed to continue the full work day, which I feel is very unprofessional and even the hardest thing ever for her. This quickly changed my view on this Lighthouse. They have no care on how things affect people, parents, or children. They also do not even care how we the parents feel when making drastic decisions to our children's lives, when we are the ones keeping the business afloat.

Parents, read this before you consider Brain Balance…read more My experience with Brain Balance specifically with Frank Amuto, was stressful, dehumanizing, and completely unacceptable. I chose to cancel after realizing the program is not covered by insurance and is not recognized as evidence-based care by insurers or standard clinical pathways. That was not made clear upfront, and it should have been before any financial commitment. What followed was worse. After cancelling, I was given information about my financing and the bank that did not match what the bank later confirmed directly. There was constant back and forth, conflicting information, and I was being pressured about money I did not owe. At one point, I was told that if I did not pay additional money, I would not receive my financing back. Let that sink in. Frank Amato's behavior escalated the situation. His communication was rude, dismissive, and condescending. He crossed a personal line by questioning my judgment as a parent, including making comments about why I chose to have a child with my child's father. That is completely inappropriate and unacceptable. Nothing was resolved until I escalated and brought the bank directly into the conversation to force transparency. Only then did the information finally align, the refund get processed, and the loan get closed. This entire experience created real fear around my finances and my credit -- something no parent should have to deal with, especially while caring for a child with ADHD. For clarity, my child is now doing well and receiving therapy that is evidence-based and covered by insurance. Be extremely careful. Verify everything directly with your lender. Get everything in writing. Do not rely on verbal assurances.

To the person that gave a low rating after paying for the assessment. I will say that at least they were honest and did not have you paying for a program that would not provide you with any benefits. Advise for those looking to enroll in the program ask the following questions to assist you with the rates (it is not cheap), nor is medication. 1 - Ask if the assessment fee be applied toward the program cost if it is determined the program is a good fit 2 - Are there any discounts you can offer you? We were able to save 1500.00 off the program as to they stated there was a beginning of the school year special 3 - If you pay in full is there a discount? We were able to save an additional 10% on the program as well. Also, I have seen some centers offer specials of $85 for the assessment or even a Groupon for them. See if they will work with you because your child is worth it!
