Did the PMP boot camp a couple of weeks ago with Dan Garza at houston north. He was a great instructor, good examples, helped provide further explanation as needed and facilitate the material well. This training has a lot of content so expect for the pace to be fast. If possible read the material before hand so you can keep up. Expect to have to review the content a couple more times so if you do it before, it will help you make the best of the training. Know this training will give you a solid foundation but you will need to put in MANY hours of study by yourself, its a tough exam. Plus, keep in mind PMI will significantly change the content and exam in Dec 2019 to include more Agile methodology content. The outline of the training is: 3 days of content and the 4th day mock exam in the AM and debrief on the pm. I think there could be a better use of the last day PM, but thats just my personal opinion. Facility was fine, just not the best chairs to spend so many hours sitting down. Plus, I think the instructor could benefit from a class with a whiteboard to help further explain if need be. Just got my PMP certification, so Im pretty happy. I highly recommend it. read more

When you're shopping for PMP training, there are so many different choices out there, both online and boot camp style. It's hard to know whether you're signing up for a quality training experience. If you happen to see this review, take my word for it - your money will be well-spent signing up for Project Management Academy's PMP boot camp. I took the course in March 2016, and Patti was the instructor. The class size was small enough that students were able to ask questions and get clarification whenever it was necessary. The material is broken down in a fashion that makes it both far less daunting and far more understandable. Patti used plenty of real world examples to illustrate the concepts, and gave us useful mnemonics for things that we'd need to memorize. She's an excellent instructor! In addition to the very good course materials, the supplemental material is enormously helpful. There are online practice exams, question & answer banks on every knowledge area and process group, flash cards, and even online tutoring sessions. I happened to initiate this journey by being one of the lucky ones appointed as a student to attend the 4 days (28th Jan to 31st Jan) PMP bootcamp earlier this year with Mrs. Patti Layne who happened to be an expert of the subject matter. I am currently building a Rolling Wave study technique in order to cope with both work and test preparations to soon be able to take the PMP exam, which procurement management plan is currently being taken care off by me. I am making sure that I am utilizing all the tools and overall knowledge acquired from Mrs. Layne's guidance and teaching abilities which so far has proven to exceed my expectations in the preparation of describing my project experiences. I strongly believe that this is a growing opportunity for any one willing to move up in his/her career. I attended the PMA boot camp class in October 2013(28, 29, 30 & 31) at Houston, TX and passed my PMP PMI exam on 19th Dec 2013 in the first attempt. I took the PMP preparation class in Nov 17 and passed the PMP exam on end Dec 17 , our instructor was Mr.Philip Jackson who is highly professional and make our course very exciting , i had a difficulty in the beginning that English is my second language and the course was in English but Mr.Jackson was very patient with me and made the course easy to understand , in addition he always use only the terms of PMBOOK5 to allow us to get familiar with the terms of the PMI book and he was very knowledgeable for the important topic and key words which should be parts of any PMP exam . the Project management academy material is very powerful well originated with a very strong study plan and worth each dollar has been paid as you will not need any additional study resources . finally i decided to take the course in English although it was available in my own primary language but this becomes not an issue because i was well prepared and confident that i can pass the exam from my first trial but you have to study hard as it is very challenging exam! read more

I took the PMP Exam Boot Camp July 29-August 1, 2019 (Houston North location). My instructor was Dan Garza and he was a great! He was very thorough and patient with the class. If anyone needed further assistance, Dan always made himself available after each class. I also contacted him a couple of times after the boot camp class for guidance and followed what he told me to do with my study regime. The PMP is not an easy exam and the main thing is to get the foundation right (knowledge areas and process groups). The structure of the class was great, because it helped me to understand the project management information. I also utilized all of the online material that PMA allows enrolled students access to. I was able to take numerous mock exams and quizzes. I am pleased to say that I took the exam September 4, 2019 and passed! I attended the PMA Bootcamp led by Jackie Ockleberry in June 2013. Jackie is an exceptional instructor! There is a ton of information to become competent with during the one week Bootcamp. Jackie has a way of really making the material and concepts hit home by using her own Project Management experiences as examples. Jackie brings the class back to the key points, concepts, and theories at each crossroads so the repitition was key to grasping these highlights - this was critical to approaching the exam questions. Its easy to see how much Jackie cares about her students and she is the type of the instructor who will go the extra mile to help her people. I searched for a boot camp that would work for me and with some many out there I took a stab at this one as the other reviews across the web had good things to say. 1. The class and format were easy to follow and well paced. 2. They provided excellent in class material. 3. They provided even better online material that complemented the class portion. The instructor Jackie Ockleberry and the Project Management Academy really did prep me in passing the exam. I roughly took the exam 6 weeks after attending the boot camp, then spent time reviewing all the online material. March 2020 virtual training with John Dokos was exceptional. The program was excellent and John had all the qualities to make the well-prepared program even more helpful - highly knowledgeable of the real-world application, caring, intelligent, able to keep the student's attention. His training helped me recently pass the exam and his application understanding was a key part of my success since the exam requires an understanding of project management application, not just PMBOK memorization. If you want to pass the PMP exam, strongly consider this course and do what John's guidance tells you to do, e.g. the reading materials, practice exams, etc. It's a difficult exam. I attended the boot camp in February, 2017. Patti was my instructor. 7 weeks later I passed the PMP exam on the first try! I have to say it was the hardest thing I have ever done but could not have done it without Project Management Academy and Patti's help. 1. The in person class fit my study style the best 2. PMA provided such great study tools. There were on line videos with quizzes for each section of the PMBOK. Great handouts, weekly webinars for ongoing study questions, various other study guides and a mock exams for practice. 3. I thoroughly enjoyed the PMP boot camp course facilitated by Jackie Ockleberry! She is absolutely amazing! I was able to understand the content of the material in much more detail. I have recommended this boot camp to several colleagues thus far. My class was March 9th-12th. I passed the exam on my 1st try this past Sunday, March 22nd a mere 10 days following the last day of boot camp class. The exam is much more intimidating than I anticipated, however, I feel that Jackie O. provided gainful information that help lead to my success. I attended PMA boot camp with "Project Management Academy" with "Jackie Ockleberry" as the instructor.The course was very well planned and easy to follow. The course book provided by PMA was very helpful along with the quick notes on laminated sheets. I took the course during the week of Oct 6-10 and passed my PMP on Oct 27th. Jackie not only helped with preparation, she guided us on how to fill the PMI application on the last day of workshop. Jackie made full use of the time for the entire workshop right from 8.30 am to 6.00 pm everyday. She did a recap in the morning for the previous day which reinforces the concepts. Overall a great experience with Class material and instructor, not so good with the location and facilities. read more

I took the PMP training course through Project Management Academy (PMA) from Dec 15 thru Dec 18th, 2014 with Jackie Ockleberry. As a direct result of taking this course I was able to pass the PMP exam on my first attempt on Dec 29, 2014. The PMA boot camp course took the information from the PMBOK Guide and condensed it in such a manner so as to make it more manageable for PMP exam taking purposes. While there is indeed a lot of information that is presented during the bootcamp course, it is definitely worth going through the course and taking the mock exams after the boot camp, that PMA gives you access to through their website. Having never taken this type of class before, and I really did not have any preconceived expectations, but I was not expecting it to be too interesting. I took the PMP boot camp course the week of Feb 9th, 2015, took my exam March 1st 2015 and passed on my first try!! I PASSED. Before that, I had been considering getting my PMP for two years but always heard the exam was tough. Life always seemed to get in the way. I took the Project Management Academy's prep course last November in 2016 and the material and instructor (Patti) were top notch. It was a 4 day course with a lot of information to get through, but the instructor was very educational relating the material to different industries and keeping the agenda on track. I attended the PMP Bootcamp through the Project Management Academy. This class and instructor were superb! Jackie Ockleberry presented the information in a concise and very informative manner. Jackie provided little sayings that helped me remember information for the test. It was very easy to follow in the class and there were always opportunities for open dialogue and questions. The online supplement materials (videos, question and answer sessions, worksheets, and etc) tied directly back to the class and offered yet another approach to learning the material.
