So, I decided to get the PMP certification to beef up my resume. I have several years of experience managing projects in industrial automation for various companies so thought I'd just sign up and go take the PMP exam. After a lot of online research, I chose to get training before attempting the exam which turned out to be a very wise choice. There were many companies that provide this service but I chose the Project Management Academy because of the numerous positive reviews and online content they offered. I took the in person PMP Bootcamp from PMA in Sept 2021. Wayne Brantley was our instructor. The course content was very thorough and it has to be because the PMP exam is a bear. Don't think you can just waltz right in and take the exam without prior training. And I can't say enough good things about our instructor Wayne Brantley. He is extremely knowledgeable on the subject and is an awesome instructor as well. He knows the PMP exam content well and knows the all the little tricks to help you succeed. In addition, Wayne stayed in contact with our class through encouraging emails after the course and personally replied to several of my own. Back to the Project Management Academy - I highly recommend them. The in-person course was perfect for setting me up to understand what I needed to learn and study but the on-line content was exceptional. Among the many things they offer on-line were a mock exam that has the full 180 questions and is timed like the actual PMP exam. To follow up on that were practice exams that I found to be the most helpful. They were also the full 180 questions but you could start and stop as you needed. Each question also has an option to provide the answer. Prior to the exam I took 3 of these. In addition to the mock and practice exams there is a ton of other helpful information. So, if you're considering taking the PMP exam, I feel that the Project Management Academy in hands down the way to go. read more

I had a rough time deciding which organization to use for the boot camp. I had already taken online courses through my company but I knew I needed specific prep to pass the exam. I ended up choosing Project Management Academy for a Mon-Thu course, followed by sitting for the exam on Friday. I am so fortunate that I picked the organization and date that I picked. Not only did the course material and lecture fully prepare me for the exam, but it also helped solidify a better and more robust knowledge of Project Management. And I have some great materials they provided that I got to keep (the study guides and reference guides are fantastic). Having Patti Layne as the instructor was a blessing! She related the information to real-world situations across multiple industries, which really helps me to learn and retain. The way she approaches the entire course allows you to joke a bit but stay focused and never lose touch with the importance of the course itself and it's purpose. For 4 long days, she, unlike many lecturers, was able to maintain my attention and focus. Only the best instructors can do that! The PMP Bootcamp at Project Management Academy was incredibly helpful in getting ready for the PMP exam. I attended in the last week of January 2019, submitted my application the day after, got approval, then say for the exam beginning of March. My instructor, Patti, was VERY knowledgeable and very good at putting all of the concepts together for test prep. It was a long week but the information I got out of it was essential for passing the exam. In the bootcamp, Patti walked us through all of the knowledge areas, process groups, and processes as well as information that is on the exam but not included in the PMBOK. Additionally, the course goes how to be successful during the application process and what to do if you get audited. Finally we got an intro to the online student portal used in self study. The online exams and questions were another aspect of PMA that made it well worth the cost. Overall, I would definitely recommend this course, Patti, and PMA to anyone who is looking to get their PMP. read more

I took the PMP boot camp in December 2017. The PMBOK is pretty difficult to read on it's own, especially without taking a boot camp. The week long class provides an overall understanding of the material and outlines how to study for the exam. Patti Layne was my instructor and she was very knowledgeable and thorough. She provided real life experiences to the class which helped me better grasp some of the concepts. She was very detailed in her explanation of the exam process and really guided the class on how to study and prepare for the exam. I really liked the in class questions that were conducted throughout the week and the mock exam on the last day. The online materials that the Project Management Academy provides were extremely helpful in my preparation. I passed on my first attempt. I took the Project Management Academy - PMP boot camp in October taught by Patti Layne. She did a tremendous job covering the entire PMBOK in 4 days. She shared many of her personal professional experiences that helped resonate real world experiences with the PMBOK and putting it to practice. The materials provided in the class are very helpful in structuring your study for the test and helping to improve upon your weaknesses. I will say that I read through the entire PMBOK prior to the class and think this helps to provide some context and familiarity before taking the class, however this is not required! Project Management Academy gives you everything you need to pass the exam on your first try, including practice exams, online lessons, study materials, and test taking techniques. I took the PMP prep course July 20-23, 2015 and could not be more impressed with this class. The course material provided was way above what I expected and was a great compliment to the daily power point and mock exam questions. They also included a host of study materials, charts and exam tips that were a huge help in digesting such a huge amount of material. Our instructor Patti Layne was nothing short of fantastic and her real-life examples of PMBOK concepts really helped me to understand the material better. She advised us to put aside our pre-conceived ideas about project management and learn to do it the PMI way and she was right... I passed the exam on the first try! I studied about 2 weeks (daily) before taking the exam. They have a lot more great studying tools on their website that really helped make the difference. I took the PMP boot camp mid of September 2019. Patti Layne was my instructor, the way Patti explain things and the real life stories/examples she shared made it easy to digest the PMP dry material. For me it was long journey, I started studying July 2019 and I finished Andy Crow book (How to pass on your 1st try) right before project management academy boot camp. Once I joined the Project Management Academy boot camp, Patti made it even easier for me to understand, I actually enjoyed her class very much. I decided to read Andy's book again and start doing mock exams. I finished 6 (200 questions each) mock exams and finally decided to take my test on March 2020. I took the 1 week PMA Bootcamp course in Houston, Tx. There were a number of locations in the area where it was offered. I did not know what to expect as I hardly knew what PMI stood for. Let me tell you, all you need to bring is your person to the training. Pens, highlighters, and all paper and note-taking material you need it provided. We started and ended as scheduled and the course delivered as promised. My teacher was John D, who not only obviously knew the information, but was able to offer personal stories, insight to some of the topics as well. I did all the John said we should do. I used ONLY PMA materials to study. I took about 2 weeks of pretty serious studying and passed with exam on the first try with no problem. If you go through this course and actually use the PMA materials, you will pass. read more

I attended the Project Management Academy Boot Camp for my PMP Exam preparation in December, 2015. Patti Layne was our instructor and provided a weeklong learning experience that kicked off my study to sit for the exam. Patti was very knowledgeable and tied in real life experiences that really pulled everything together for me. The course is very well planned out and the online material was a lifesaver to continue my study following the boot camp. With my busy schedule, I didn't take the exam until April, 2016, however - the online study kept me on track and involved at the pace I needed until I could go forward and take it. Took the course 8/6/18-8/9/18, I was extremely pleased with both the instructor and the materials provided. Its hard to get time to study, and by committing myself to this payment and schedule, it forced me to do something that I have wanted since 2008. I have owned the two earlier editions of the PMBOK, trying to self study and even taken some training classes, however I was never fully invested, and as result I never finished my goal. Patti helped me set up a study plan after training me for a week with information and tools that were imperative to my success. Nothing comes easy, and having the right tools and the right plan will make the difference. As of 9/24 I passed the exam with "above target" status on my first attempt! I attended the May 2018 PMP Prep Bootcamp in Houston, Texas conducted by Dan Garza. First and foremost I want to say, the amount of information provided by PMA is outstanding. Having a military PM background, I wasn't exclusively familiar with the proper PMBOK project flow but was able to grasp the process easily within the week long course. Dan did an excellent job on not just answering questions but translating those questions into real world situations to better assist in grasping the concepts. Post class I studying for three weeks dissecting my weak areas and applying the principles Dan instilled in us to smash my PMP on my first attempt. I attended the Project Management Academy Boot Camp Training course led by, in my opinion, one of the most experienced Project Management professionals I have ever had the privilege of learning from in over 25 years of Information Technology. Mrs. Layne is simply an outstanding lecturer and her experience in running a PMO is second to none. I wouldn't take the class from anyone else. After I completed the boot camp, I was requested to run a very complex Big Data program for a large Healthcare organization in Texas. I attended the Dec 2017 Class session in Houston, Texas. My instructor was John D. I took this course to prepare for the CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) Exam. I recently took my CAPM exam in January 2018 and I passed. I found this class very helpful as we went through every chapter, process, and knowledge area of the project management process in detail. Our instructor John D. was very helpful as well, and explained things we would need to know for the exam, and helped relate the information in the PMBOK to how we will actually be managing projects in our (students) careers. I took the week long bootcamp for the PMP and the course was excellent. Our instructor Patti Layne was very knowledgeable and helpful. She gave a lot of tips on the material and the exam itself, which i found extremely useful. I used the class and the study material provided to study for the exam, and passed the exam in the first try. I would recommend taking the exam 2-3 weeks after the class. I went through all the online study guides and practice exams, along with reading the PMBOK. Simply an OUTSTANDING program. I took the 4 day PMP boot camp in June 2016 and passed my PMP exam on the 1st TRY!!!!! The content, material, class environment and the instructor were TOP NOTCH. I had started thinking about getting certified -PMP during early 2017, but late in 2018 I signed up for the PMP course in Houston with Project Management Academy. It was just the 4 days of help I needed in preparing for the exam. I'm someone who doesn't have a lot of success with standardized tests and have taken other prep classes before for graduate school. This course helped prepare you for the exam and also receive the needed CEUs for the certification. I passed it about 6 weeks after taking the course on the first try. The study materials that are provided and direction provided by the professor help ensure you'll do well. It is more "academic" application and exam specific. Take this in preparation for the exam...not with the idea you'll capture best practices on project management. read more
