The tutor that we both ended up having was Mark. He was really nice, smart, and had a knack of breaking down the information and making it easy to understand. Added plus, my scores and brain power are on the up-and-up in such a short amount of time! In addition, the office staff was very nice and courteous too! They put me at ease with all of the offered services and made sure everything will work out with my schedule. Note: Be prepared to budget $$$$ and give yourself plenty of time to take your final test and all of the practice tests. If I remember correctly, the tutoring company recommends 3-6 months of preparation with at least 10 (ten) scheduled practice tests. I did it in 6-weeks with 2 (two) practice tests. She also advised me not to take the test prep lightly and consider it a very valuable investment, in other words, don't go the cheap direction. A friend of mine used C2 and had great things to say and as it was conveniently located to us, we paid them a visit. Helen Chung was very professional as she explained the long road ahead to improve our son's middling test scores to more competitive scores. Our goal was Texas A&M, or UT, and we knew there was no way our son could get in without really good test scores. We also knew that there is plenty of free test prep material available on the web, but that our son would never make the time to study if it weren't scheduled and taught by a third party. They teach in 1hour & 50-minute long sessions, and while I don't remember how much each session costs, we bought enough for him to attend 1-2 times/week that May, 2-3 times/week over the summer months and then 1-2 times/week his fall & winter semesters of his junior year. It was expensive and it was exhausting BUT, it got him into both Texas A&M & UT. My son was not in the top quarter of his class, so we know his high test scores and strong essays made the difference. The C2 investment was worth every penny to help us reach our goal. While my son really liked all of the instructors, his favorite was Daniel. Indeed, we even used C2 to help our son write his college essays as our son is not a strong writer. It also took away the conflict that comes from us trying to guide or redirect his topics or essays. We received excellent service from the whole C2 Memorial staff and eagerly refer them to all of our friends. Like I said, it was a very long process and over the course of 15 months our son received a lot of encouragement from the staff and Helen kept us all on track if we missed too many lessons. She takes the progress of her students very seriuosly which made all the difference. It would have been pretty easy to buy all of those hours up front, and then get too busy to ever use them, but Helen is very interested in results and understands very well how important it is that the student attend on a regular basis. ( V35, V36, V34, V30, V35....) My math has always been strong (47-49) but something subtle behind the way I was approaching verbal was setting me back. Mark taught me how to look at verbal like math by "decoding the matrix" and after taking 10 hours with him, I suddenly clicked. I feel that Mark's approach to teaching not only helped me look at the GMAT in a different light, but also helped by relating it to my everyday life, making it not as dull and monotonous to study. Mark is very energetic and very personable. He really dug in deep with my weaknesses and accessed how I approached the problems. Some things that he taught me are even applicable outside the GMAT. Initially I was steadfast with my engineering "must-solve" mentality and didn't get out of the course as much as I potentially could have 1st time around. The second time was completely different, I took to Marks "unorthodox" approach to viewing problems and solutions to not only make the GMAT more fun, but also taught me the values that CEO's carry with them at all times, but most interestingly, these values were simple enough for a 6 year old to understand. He is very knowledgeable and is very easily accessible outside of class, especially for such a busy individual. His examples usually revolve around people or instances and these tend to stick a lot better than conventional teaching methods (for me personally at least). I highly recommend anybody looking for help with the GMAT to look out for his class. The only thing I'd say is you need to patient and buy into his methods, they may frustrate you initially, but in the longer run, are very valuable information and practices.
