I see why it's called boot camp, I was drained at the end of each day. Patti provided several helpful study techniques and also showed us around the website and all its tools. I actually did not pick up my study material for over a month after camp. I started studying again about a week before the exam which I took in mid-January. While I don't recommend this approach (I'm a crammer!), it worked for me and I passed the PMP with flying colors. I would not have been able to grasp all the material on my own, at least not in the few weeks I put towards learning it. I'd actually say this boot camp over prepared me for the exam and I'm am gladly applying what I learned at work.

I was sad to hear one of my friends remark that she has heard hypnobirthing is weird, because she couldn't be farther from the truth. Hypnobirthing is the closest method to the natural reality of birth that you can practice. I'm glad I took the class through the Concierge Doulas of Houston, as well, because my instructor (Kati Stanley) was professional, relational, respectful, and knowledgeable. I felt comfortable with her right away and I am so well equipped because of her instruction. In fact, I miss our classes! I can't speak highly enough of Concierge Doulas of Houston. We finally decided, after 3 babies,…read morethat we would hire a postpartum doula for help after our 4th baby. I had spoken with Robin earlier in my pregnancy about postpartum doula services but continued my search individually. Without the help of Concierge Doulas of Houston, we hired someone to come help. She was young and from a large family and she seemed like a really good fit. We didn't need a ton of hours (about 6 hours during the day maybe 9am-3pm or so) or overnight so when she got a contract for more hours, she kind of only gave us what she had left after being up all night which isn't what we had spoken about or contracted her for. It was a very frustrating and stressful situation. On a whim, Robin contacted me to make sure we had found the support we needed. I explained, in tears, what was going on and she offered to see if she had anyone available to help us. She came through and sent Jenna Keehnen to the rescue! Jenna was such a blessing to our family. She helped so much with the kids and keeping the house running. She was patient with the kids, took them down the street to the park or for walks. She made lunch for them and for me, she did light housekeeping, prepared herbal baths for me and baby as prescribed by our midwife, held the baby so I could shower, and really just took the stress off of my husband. She was also emotionally supportive during that crazy postpartum period when hormones are on the fly. It's a lot keeping up a house and taking care of 3 kids as well as taking care of resting postpartum mama. Jenna did it all and I will always look back on that postpartum lying-in period as peaceful, joyful, and restful because Jenna was there to help and support our family. I was so impressed that Robin had written down or remembered to reach out after my due date to make sure we had the support we need. She didn't know we were in a sticky situation but she was able to help us out of it and our postpartum experience was wonderful because of her planning and forethought. Thank you Robin and Jenna! We are forever grateful!
