I've had natural hair since 2013 and it was mostly trial and error in regard to finding what worked for my hair. I went to Emma in 2018 for a Sweet Cut and my hair has flourished since then! Emma takes the time to educate you about your hair while she's doing it. She will always remind you that your curls are unique to you and to embrace them! She recently moved into her salon, and it is so beautiful and relaxing. All the details are amazing! She also has a boutique where she sells hair products is you need to restock your home supply! If you will be visiting Emma for the first time, it is so crucial to book a consultation with her first! In this consultation, she will assess your hair and recommend what style to book. Speaking of booking appointments, Emma is good, so good you will likely have to book her a few months out, but do not let this discourage you from scheduling an appointment; she is worth it!

This isn't a review regarding services but about booking an appointment…read more This salon be booked, which I contribute to the stylist being talented. I tried to book several appointments that were canceled. I finally thought I got it right and booked an appointment in January. However, that appointment was canceled too. I attempted to book again but with a consultation and the appointment was not canceled (I was like FINALLY). The websites states that a consultation is recommended for new clients but it doesn't say required. It would clarify things if it just said required. Nevertheless, when I reviewed my credit card statement, I was charged the deposit for both appointments and was never refunded for the first appointment I tried to book in January that they canceled (the appointment that didn't have the consultation). I, therefore, disputed the charges for the first appointment with my card (not the charges for the appointment that was confirmed). However, the stylist, in turn, canceled my appointment instead of recognizing that I was not refunded for the deposit for the appointment they initially canceled. I give up!!!

Today I had to take a test that could have a major impact on the rest of my career. I don't know…read morewhat you do, but my career requires that I pass different certification tests to be eligible for a promotion. The test I had to take today was a 5 hour computer based test and it cost me $120 to take the test. I arrived on a Saturday at 1pm. I only knew to park in the back and go through the back door because of the other cars in the lot. If I had been first on site, I would have had a heck of time figuring out where to go. The building isn't new, but the office for the TX Testing Center is old old. Located on the 4th floor of the Bank of Fort Bend building, hidden in the corner, is an old office space. The chairs in the waiting area are like sitting hammocks. They look like they've been picked up at a flea market. This place is a one woman show. About 15 people showed up at 1pm for the afternoon testing session and one woman had to check everyone in, take their photo (required for the state certification), and set them up on their computer. Each person was taking a different test, so that takes some time and personalization on the computer. Not only that, the test I was taking required some supplemental paper information that she had to go find. She knew where it was, but she was a little overwhelmed with all she had to do. There really needs to be two people here during the check in process. Once I was put at a computer, I had a seat and got comfortable for my up to 5 hour test. The chair was not especially comfy. The computers themselves are pretty new and work just fine, no problems there. Recently, there have been major earthquakes and the vibrating floor and tables at one point made me very nervous. I seriously had to stop testing and wait for the tables and floor to stop moving. I don't know if there was a herd of elephants in the building or what, but you can read a computer screen when it is bouncing around. When testing, I like complete silence and unfortunately, with 8 people in my single testing room, I had to listen to one lady hum periodically and another guy who need a box of tissues but didn't bother to bring any with him. It was quite annoying listening to all these people make noise. It took me about 3 hours to finish my test. About 2 hours into the test, the one-woman-show walked around and gave everyone a wrapped candy. Really? Yeah it's not disturbing at all to listen to everyone unwrap and then suck on their candy. When I finally went to leave, I had to turn in my supplemental materials and check out. The one-woman-show was no where to be found. I waited and waited, and then I went in the hallway to look for her. I eventually heard her, on her cell phone, down the hall. I had to call out to her (yes, interrupting other testers) to get her attention. Overall, I would not take another certification test here even though it is convenient to my home. I want somewhere quiet and comfortable. If you are looking at this review, then you are probably taking the same type of test I was. Go to another location, there are many different businesses that do this type of testing in the Houston/Sugar Land area.

They put me in the smallest testing room which is about the size of a walk in closet! It was making me claustrophobic as well. With the room so small you could hear EVERYTHING and EVERYONE. I had a girl next to me shaking her leg so violently it shook her whole body and made the chair make a bunch of noise. It was extremely distracting. No noise cancelation headphones or blasting AC to help drown her out. A few of us got LOCKED OUT of the building right before the test started. They told us no purses and go back to our cars, so we did. Well apparently it happens a lot that the other building employees don't like the door being propped open and close it on purpose. Well that locks US out. Thankfully a girl found the testing center number online. But that is too stressful right before an exam. =/ The staff were very polite, but my experience here was bad and I won't go back even though this is the closest testing center to my house.

The college application process and landscape have changed so much since I was a college applicant,…read moreI wanted to make sure my son would be prepared for the challenge. I had colleges in mind for my son but I needed a third party who is familiar with the process and have resources to elevate him as a strong candidate. I also needed someone to coach him so that I end up not being a "nag" essentially. I felt confident after interviewing and researching several college application counseling services that Ivy Scholars was the one. What I liked about Ivy Scholars was their bespoke approach to coaching the candidate. It was one on one which I truly loved - Not some group in a conference room discussing your child and giving vague ideas of how to build your candidacy. I felt Ivy Scholars focused on the individual candidate. Meeting with Sasha was great, instant confidence. I reviewed his team and they were all very professional and very qualified. It offered candidacy building, test prep, and essay and application help. Everything I was looking for. I had a lot of trepidation about spending money (it is expensive, they all are) on college applications but I felt it would help my son. I needed help as a parent. Well, it was well worth it. Actually I would say Ivy Scholars helped my son beyond what I expected. Daniel Schriever was my son's weekly coach and counselor. He was patient, thoughtful, and really talented. He took the time to learn my son's personality - strengths and weaknesses. My son was not the most organized - typical teenage boy. He worked with him and learned of his passions and interests and helped him get an internship that he loved. It fit right in with his interests. He helped him connect with a research mentor (Dr Len) and he was able to submit his research for publication. As for the college application process, well, my son, out of the blue, wanted to apply to the service academies. That is a whole another beast of a process. Daniel helped with 16 college applications and three service academy applications. The essays, the college app, coached him on military panel interviews as well as congressional nomination interviews. So now we have a problem - a good problem to have, we never expected. He got accepted to UT Austin early action as an out of state applicant. They had 140,000 applicants this year - 95% deferred, and only 10% is out of state. He is a national Air Force ROTC Scholarship recipient as well as Army ROTC Scholarship recipient. He received an appointment to the United States Military Academy (West Point) with three Congressional nominations. He also got accepted to 11 other colleges of which they are rewarding him with scholarships. Thank you Dr Daniel, Sasha, Dr Len and Team

Jennifer, my mentor, provided invaluable insight, assistance, and encouragement. I am grateful and honored to have had the privilege of being in their pro bono program, Laurel Scholars, and getting to work with them. I recommend Ivy Scholars highly. Jennifer helped me make sure my personal statement articulated my journey well and was something that I was very proud of. She has been immensely supportive and by my side throughout the process--even after I submitted my applications and was waiting on decisions to be released, Jennifer checked in on me. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with her and believe her counsel guided me to my acceptances. The difficulty of finding my footing after an illness-induced break in my education put me at a disadvantage that I didn't know how to overcome. Sasha and Jennifer made sure that my future would not be lost in this gap. They offered me strategies to use my story as a nontraditional applicant to my benefit and genuinely made every effort to help me. I was accepted to and will be attending Columbia University this fall and could not be more enthusiastic about the next chapter in my story.

I attended the classes and realized that you can just get the same information from YOUTUBE. There was one tutor who was consistently late to the classes he taught and did not truly care about the "concepts" he was supposed to teach. He was on his phone the majority of the time. I also had the pleasure of ended my course with him and he just gave up before the full tutor session was over. He did not go in depth with the math concepts or explain how to even solve a problem. Do not sign up for this. You are wasting your money and time, go to a better course. They also do not give you a refund if you do not get your guaranteed 200+ score, only offering you extra classes. How is the extra classes supposed to help if the classes I paid for didn't even improve my score?

I completed the course several months ago, and they told me I would need to pay for all the months that had passed since the course ended -- even though I had no access to the videos during that time. This is absurd. Why should I pay for something I didn't use and never had access to? I had to reschedule my exam due to health reasons, and despite explaining my situation, the support team showed zero empathy and eventually just stopped replying to my emails. Now, with less than 15 days until my exam, I still don't have access to the videos. I'm willing to pay for one month of access, but they're demanding payment for over 6 months -- time during which I had no access at all. Extremely disappointed with the lack of flexibility and support.
