Unfortunately, I have witnessed the Van guy (Owner) hit some of his students as some kind of joke. He has also called some of the kids fat and make jokes about the student's appearance. He acts like a bitch who thinks he is entitled to treat people like dog shit. It looks like he genuinely, INTEND to offend people. There is not a guaranteed chance that if you send your child here, they will do well in school or even pass considering their low academic progress. Teachers come and go and I heard their pay isn't much. They have extra jobs that have to support them while the owner sleeps comfortably in his big house and stores at his water fountain out in his yard. I also have seen some students try this place out recently for one day and just never came back. This place is a simple business. As long as you attend, at the end of the day, your problems are yours and they can keep your money. There happens to be a bottle of Siracha the kids use to soak their food in every single day which is just disgusting and I am surprised no one does anything about it. They stopped passing out sacks which explains their cheapness for the students. They want monthly payments now so that means you will probably be sending your kids here every day not excluding holidays or any exceptions you might need to take off on. Van now throws parties or movie days to exploit the children for profit where you have to pay to get in. Surprisingly it isn't much but a bag of chips, drink and a movie the kids have probably already watched before. Cheap cheap cheap. It is the same food served every day but now they give it in a smaller portion. To make matters worse, Van will not let kids order food from other restaurants now as another way to force the kids to eat the shit food they serve. I know they don't like when people go out of their way to get their own food. This is just a rip off of "Duc Dinh" which is another tutoring center Van copied. The drivers drive like MANIACS in a van full of kids! I also have to mention it is a waste of time going around for 1-2 hours in some schools picking up kids and it is a burden on some students who get dropped off very late or when it is time for them to close... I hope this place closes. There recent reviews shows that this place is just getting worse off. It might seem kind of cheap to send your child here but I can garuntee you that your money is not worth it in this greey place. read more

I went with my friend to check out this after-school program for his kid. The director Vy took us in and gave us a tour. I don't think they usually do that. But luckily it was late and most students are gone. I love the environment once I went in, it makes people feel relaxing. We asked a lot of questions concerning their mission and goals for the school. We want to make sure the kid will be getting the kind of education as we wanted and not to waste time on a lot of other after school program. The students there have their own computer from the school for research purpose, they dont just allow students to be on computer for other reason outside of school work. I like that. I feel like they are trying to create a serious and fun studying environment. I like that they are serious about their students studying hard but the same time not get bored with just studying. They don't just have tutoring classes there, they mixed the fun with studying. Van Houston Academy also offer computer coding and chess on their spare time as an option to their students. My friend and I loved everything we saw there. Their teaching mission really allied with my friend's goal of how he wants for his kid. So we probably will send his kid to their summer program. read more

this was honestly the worst school I was in for my 2 years being in van, the school is just messy, people smack talking about u behind your back, barely any friends to make unless you're known to anyone, I got expelled from the school bc I stole, but before I got expelled, I was blacklisted from using my devices by the principal because of something I did to a person, this had to be a horrible experience for your kids, the teachers and the AP's don't care about a situation your in, they just tell u to deal with it yourself and the students there wanted me to get beat up for no reason, and the teachers didn't do anything about it js bc they favored this kid who was popular but actually wasn't, in the future don't recommend parents to this school, instead take your kids to a school with better lifestyle and a good education, this school makes u behind everything. read more

From what I observed from 2022-2026, the new facility opened in 2025, and my kids did not seem to receive adequate care. Many teachers do not hold teaching certifications. There are shortcuts in the cafeteria, and while Fridays have club days, classroom instruction does not seem thorough. Grades appear boosted rather than reflecting proper learning, which feels like a systemic issue. I believe the school system needs improvements starting with leadership and moving to teachers and students. Overall, I do not feel this school provided the quality I was hoping for, and I would not choose it again. My daughter has been going to this school for about half a year now. I've spend thousands dollars on this school just for my daughter to be bullied. She comes home and tells me about all the God awful threats the kids at this school told her. I've spoken to the principal of this school just for him to tell me that my kid was the problem. He says that he is worried about my kid, but in reality he just wants my money. If he was truly worried, he would have already deal with the mess. I have taken my kid out of this school. The principal graduated from Stanford with a Masters in Education. I want my son to learn as much as he can from him and build a good study habit from a young age. I sent my son to Van Houston Academy because he's in gifted and talents program with HISD. The school has great certified teachers to work with my son at his level. The staff there are very nice and the kids love them. They pick up the kids from school to their learning center. I love that they offer the transportation service for my kid! This school is a very fun school to be in. We have different events according to the season such as Winter for Winter Show Case, Chinese new years for February, May/April for Camp! this school is a friendly environment and anti bully zone. Everyone treats everyone with respect and that doesn't change. The janitor also does her best to clean everything , so this school is very clean and this school is very fun overall. The teachers actually teach and not only give packets and tell you to do it. The students here are also very friendly and nice! read more

Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend this place. I observed cost-cutting practices that affected the quality of instruction and overall environment. Communication felt inconsistent, and the experience did not meet my expectations for a student-focused program. Because of this, I've decided to take my kids elsewhere. read more
