DO NOT USE THIS MOVER!! Everything that wasn't stolen from us was damaged. We moved over 4 months ago and Ricky (the owner) still has a large amount of our belongings and he won't respond to texts or phone calls. This has been one of the worst experiences of our lives. I wouldn't wish any of this on my worst enemy! We ended up paying Ricky over 10,000 and our quote was under $5000. We had to take out two loans to pay him. He only delivered half our stuff two weeks after we moved and almost 4 weeks after that he delivered a small load. I know we will never see that rest our our belongings and it breaks my heart because some of the items were family heirlooms. My husband had over $4000 worth of pneumatic tools stolen out of his tool box. He stole all of our Joeys for Dish and we are being charged for them not being returned Please don't even consider using this mover!!! read more

STAY AWAY. This has been a terrible experience. I did not even choose this company. United Movers (also terrible) hired them without my consent and now I'm paying an extra thousand dollars to get my furniture (a month late) because of either 1) a miscommunication on Unite to Houston First regarding what services I needed or 2) Ricky at Houston First knows he can hold your property hostage for a month and you'll have to pay whatever he asks. Both are probably likely, I started a new job in a new state 3 weeks ago. I have been sleeping on my floor with only a duffel bag of clothes and regular promises from United through Houston that my stuff will arrive "around the beginning of the week....for several weeks. It's unfortunate that this company hires people who excel in the credit card fraud industry. Imagine me checking my statement when i saw two charges for this company. Interesting since i don't live in Texas. When i tried to call to speak to a manager, i was told "NOPE" and was hung up on. Are you even a moving company?? read more

Houston First Movers is hands down the most unprofessional business I have ever seen. I had arranged for my stuff to be moved from Houston to another city 8 hours away and everything was supposed to arrive on Saturday at noon. However, the movers did not show up at the scheduled time and nobody would answer our calls or respond to our texts. So after 10 hours of waiting we finally got a hold of the owner who said that they hadn't even left Houston yet and weren't sure when they'd be able to. So at 10:00 PM I found out that I didn't even have a mattress to sleep on and had to arrange for a room at a nearby hotel. The movers didn't end up showing up until Monday afternoon and they were very rude and unprofessional. So not only did I end up having to pay for the move, I also had to pay for 2 nights at a hotel and I missed a day of work. And there was absolutely zero communication on their end. PLEASE do not hire these guys, there are plenty of more professional companies in Houston that will actually follow through on getting you your stuff on time. If it was possible for me to give them 0.0 stars on here I would. read more

They destroyed all of my belongings! I hired these animals to move my belongings. They were three days late to pick up my things. The driver vomited in my driveway and smelled of alcohol. The neighbors called the Omaha Police. They took my things and we're supposed to store them for 30 days and then deliver them to me in Florida. One week later they called and said they'd be delivering them right away. Then they were another day late after that and not storing for the agreed to 30 days. When they finally arrived all of my belongings were DESTROYED! I am beyond devastated. Family furniture, family keepsakes, family china all gone. Not only destroyed some things aren't even here. It looks like they did it on purpose. I just do not understand how human beings could do this to another human being. They are evil savages. I do not know what I'm going to do. I don't know how to go on. read more

The ABSOLUTE WORSE moving company I have EVER used!! They showed up late, took 4 hrs longer then supposed to, let all my furniture/boxes get soaking wet and destroyed and or damaged EVERY item they touched!!!! Ricky said to claim everything on their insurance, which us a joke! Offered me $100 when the claim I submitted was for $1,000. They ruined all my items and were willingly to give me $100!! CROOKS!!! read more

Ricky the owner committed Fraud and stole money from 2 bank accounts. I was charged $2600 for a 12 mile move that was estimated at $575. The 3 guys came 6 hours late, Ricky demanded another $1000 to start unloading my items or hew said he "would blow up the truck" I called the police, they arrived, Ricky was on the phone in Houston. His terrorist threats and total lack of ethics was hideous. My items were broken, and left in my garage, not moved up the stairs into my new home. This is not a business that should exist, it needs to be Shut DOwn and Ricky in jail. He stole money from 2 accounts and is too much of a coward to answer my calls. I have filed with the state of Texas and you will LOSE your license. read more

Regarding a recent local move in Baytown, TX. Ricky, at the company sent a written estimate by email, the city and zip code and our contact phone number was incomplete and incorrect, we contacted the company to correct the pickup address and other information. The estimate was for 1 truck, 2 movers, 1 hour. With travel time and fuel charge, the entire estimate emailed to us was $200. He did not call the day before the move to confirm as promised. When we called the day of the move, he said they were on their way. Later, when we inquired why they were running so late (and Ricky finally answered the phone), he said they went to the wrong city (he had not corrected the address as requested). To add to the problems, he sent 3 movers with a huge truck, to move a studio apt under 550 sq ft. We were also billed for 3 movers for a 3 hour minimum which he claims we verbally ordered. They refused to unload the truck completely until payment of $497. was paid- for a move of less than 10 miles, and less than 2 hours time; including one mover who was on the phone more than moving anything. This was a blatant ripoff. He refused to honor the electronic agreement, and has called us liars for denying the 3 men / 3 hour move verbal "plan". I have pictures of the total goods moved, it isn't even enough to make a dent in the 10' x 15' storage building it was put in. Agreeing to a 3 hour move would have made no sense whatsoever. We truly regret ever hiring this company- we were misled into thinking they were local to our area, and a reputable small business. Horrible experience! read more

BEWARE! Used this service through a broker (EZ movers) out of West Palm Beach, FL. They were there to pick up the load as promised. From there, it quickly went downhill. Shipper refused to send the load across the country. Still no furniture after a month after moving to new residence. Both shipper and broker are totally evasive. Holding your furniture hostage! Ricky (owner) is a scam artist. Currently pursuing legal action and fraud charges through the bank. Avoid this mover! The move was paid in full, now he has our money and all of my possessions. Won't be long before the BBB pulls his business license. read more

I completely missed the 3 reviews for this company. Complete disaster from the go. They failed to mention that they charge drive time for their employees to get to the job site. So the estimate at the time of arrival was already 1/3 higher than the over the phone estimate. I would have told them to leave, but I had already given them a one hour deposit on the phone and I didn't have any other options to get the truck unloaded. They were also 4.5 hours late. Do not ever use this company! read more

Zero. This company is a fraud. They took my deposit, confirmed my move date, and then the day before they called to say they had to cancel, over a holiday weekend of all things. I would recommend staying far far away from this sham of an operation! read more

This moving company started out great. Their secretary was incredibly nice and considerate. She set everything up and was extremely professional, she even let us pay by debit card. However, the day of the move the movers arrived three and a half hours late. When I called the owner to ask why they were so late he began to scream at me using choice words because he thought I was being "ungrateful". He then decided that our move had gone over on time, which it had not yet, demanded cash for the entire move, not just the overage of time. I tried to explain that he already had our payment via debit card. I even offered to pay the overage of time in cash. He seemed to think that a debit card and a credit card were the same thing and demanded cash even though they already had our full payment except the "overage of time". It was now almost midnight. He threatened to take the truck with our belongings back to the warehouse and charge us for storage. So we went to an ATM and pulled the cash. The movers did not speak English, so they could not write me a receipt. The company did refund the debit card eventually. The owner is extremely unprofessional, he screams and does not listen. I DO NOT recommend them. Also, the person who commented below, Ricky, is the "owner" who screamed and cursed at myself and my father in law. read more

First the movers were late, then they broke a glass on my antique china cabinet, then they lost a piece to another antique, then their truck broke down and they were 4, almost 5 hours, late delivering my furniture, then the owner, "RICKY" yelled at me because I told him the loader told me they weren't going to charge me past the load time because of the break down. He yelled and said that guy was not the boss and had no authority to tell me that. They charged me $705 for a 1 Bed apt. move of 20 miles. He told me the glass they broke was a $10-$20 piece. WRONG!! After all of the stress of that day, and him being rude and yelling, I had a mild heart attack and spent 4 days in the hospital. Thanks for nothing Ricky!! read more

This business seems like a one crew show. This company was not dependable. Please go with anyone else. Their prices are comparable to all the other moving companies so really you are not missing out.... Go WITH ANOTHER COMPANY, seriously. Do not bother with this unprofessional company. We had a timeframe between 8-10 in the morning. I got a call from Ricky at 9AM saying his crew had a late move the day before and didn't get back until 4:30AM. He told me they would be 1 or 2 hours late... I said I understood. My family and I continued to move boxes and clothing and things we could still expecting he would show up... needless to say, you can read the quoted text messages below with typos and all... to make a long story short... he claims his crew was still sleeping... and then he lied at 11:56 stating his crew was getting ready.. then by 3:12pm he stated his crew woke up. I would have totally understood if he said early in the day, look I will make it today, but not until later afternoon. Will that be ok? I would have been amenable to that... I would have understood... I pretty sure he just double booked in case of a cancelation and didn't want to be honest about his shotty business practices... Me: 11:12: Ricky I'm checking on your crew. DON'T HIRE THIS MOVING COMPANY. I rate them NEGATIVE. This company lost 2 of my TV sets, lost my headboard, and broke my furniture and kitchen wares. There was a delay with the delivery of my stuff from Texas to NY so that clearly broke our contract. They are very unprofessional. It is difficult to communicate with them. They cost us a lot of money, stress, and they don't care about anything other than making money. They need to be put out of business. read more

Do not ever use this company! I should have read reviews ahead of time, but only needed help unloading a POD so didn't think it was a huge deal. From reading the reviews, I now feel lucky that they just never showed up because multiple people have written reviews stating that their belongings have been broken or stolen. After multiple phone conversations because they were "running late", they ultimately just never came. Now Ricky won't even answer my phone calls in order for me to get my deposit back. I am absolutely appalled by the lack of business ethics from this company. I would choose zero stars if that was a choice. I did finally get a refund for my deposit but only because I called from my work number. I can't believe this company is still in business and they should be ashamed of themselves. read more

Completely unreliable, never showed for the move, never called to tell me they weren't coming, did not respond to my calls or emails. I made a reservation and paid the deposit three weeks in advance. This was a small move and "Rickie" had no problem taking a deposit and telling me that this was no problem for them or their schedule. He gave me his number and was very responsive the first day I called. I received a paid receipt for my deposit and everything seemed to be okay. I started calling the day before the move for a confirmation and estimated arrival time. I called 6 times between the day before the move and the day of the move. I have used movers before, and it looks like that movers have trouble moving between states. Ricky gave me an estimate via email. But, as soon as he got to my apartment, he said that the "cubic feet" was way more than he expected, and had to charge me more accordingly. In addition, we had said that we needed my things by a certain date, which was another $1000, for guaranteed delivery, because he had to use a different truck. This was complete new information to me. Needless to say, his driver arrived ten days later that the "guaranteed" delivery date , because the driver had to come from California. I was moving to South Carolina. When his truck driver showed up, he slapped on some extra fees for going up stairs, also the fee was delivery changed from $100, to $300 and so on. Overall, the experience was very poor. The only good point is that all my things were delivered, and they built everything for me, which is why they get two stars. However, it is very very unlikely I would recommend this business, or use them again in the future. read more

Sadly I have to agree with the other posters. TOTAL DISASTER. Worst experience. Movers were VERY late (hours - not minutes). Messed up our invoice with someone else's. We tried to call to get an estimated time of arrival - nobody answered. Movers finally arrive. Tried to speak to the owner, but he was very insulting and condescending. We ended up paying them just to get them to leave. Do not use this company unless you want to be over-charged and treated poorly. read more

STAY AWAY. I wasn't aware the company I hired was a broker company (Road Runner Moving & Storage) who hired Houston First without my knowledge. They arrived and loaded everything at my Texas address. It took about 10 days to arrive at my NY address which included 3 days of them telling me "we'll arrive today at 6pm" until they finally arrived after some incident with the truck and the police (police apparently took the truck and they couldn't come until they got the truck back). I made it clear I was moving to a walk up apartment on the top floor so I paid the extra walk up fee. Two guys arrived to move all of my things up 6 flights of stairs - which was wild to me. I was assuming three guys were needed for this job, but whatever. Not only were several of my items damaged or missing, my new apartment walls were completely scuffed. Brand new furniture I bought for the move, completely damaged, TV screen completely broke and base cracked, my grandmother's picture frame of the city was shattered and dented, some shelves and boxes had water damage, I could go on. Ricky, the boss, answered my initial call on how to replace or move forward with filing an insurance claim, and then I never heard from him again. After reaching out to Road Runner, they were very apologetic and are helping me expedite the insurance claim which I appreciate but I'm still annoyed they hired them without my knowledge in the first place. They said they will no longer be doing business with Houston. Worst experience ever. read more

Stay far away from this crook. Man uses a professional front on the phone and is nothing but a slime ball behind the scenes. This man arrived and tried to change and renegotiate the price and when we told him never mind he changed his tune... HOWEVER!!!!! Once he loaded the truck he changed his tune again and tried to hijack our furniture and up the price and makes threats and wanted cash and kept saying our credit cards were Declined and that's not even possible. We called our card company and the cards were not ran - he kept hiking the price on us and bullying my wife ....... The crew doesn't speak English but we were able to speak with them in Spanish. his own crew says he does this with everyone and has even stolen items . Is there anyone that has a lawsuit against this company. Nightmare dealing with them! Was hooked up with them who I did not know was a broker! Then when they finally arrived (3 daus late which cost me hotel and more rent!)they wanted 3xmore then I was quoted after they loaded my stuff! I moved from WA to TN...the movers took 3 weeks to get my stuff too me and everything the movers packed (and charged me for the privilege)was either broken or damaged and I am paying for replacements!!! I called and tt owner Ricky who was on vacation in Israel with his family...so he asked for me to call the following week. I called...emailed...no response. Finally got a hold of him today and he told me he is going out of business and wanted to know what he wanted me to do about my things? I told him I wanted to be refunded at least $1000.00. He said he has no way of paying me and hung up on me! This has been one of the worst experiences I have ever had! The broker is Moving Forward! Do not deal with either of these companies! My parents used them to move their entire house from Houston to Georgetown. The company broke the TV, washing machine, large fountain, and their stuff sat in a broken down truck for 6 days. If someone only answers the phone "moving company", DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! THEY ARE CON-ARTIST!!! If I could give zero stars I would! I am utterly disgusted w/ how this company can still be in business. I called & spoke w/ Jessica whom was friendly. I was glad they were able to do a last minute move request after calling quite a few other companies that could not. On my first call, Jessica stated there will be a 1 hour charge of $149 as a deposit which I agreed to. After receiving the quote confirmation and acknowledging it, my mom noticed that the "Deposit" turned into a "Service Charge". After calling back, I spoke w/ Jessica again whom claim she had her manager take off half and would only charge me $72. After reconsidering (feeling something wasn't right) & reading the reviews I had just found, I called back again to cancel. Now Jessica placed her manager, Ricky on the phone who tried to sell me a bill of goods, making all kinds of promises and sweet talking me. He said the reviews were not to his company but to a company with the same name & he was currently pursuing legal action to have them removed. He promised me that he will make sure all of my items were delivered and intact. I still felt leery, but agreed to go through with it due to lack of other companies availability during the holiday weekend. He also promised that I could call him personally to cancel if I still felt uncomfortable later in the evening. After coming across more horrible reviews on another website, that named Ricky specifically and his con-artist tactics, I called back to cancel; however, I was dumbfounded that I could not get through. They blocked my number!!! I then called from my mom's phone. Jessica once again placed Ricky on the phone, after I told her $72 refund was unacceptable and I expect to receive all my money because no services was performed! Ricky then proceeded to threaten me that I signed the quote and they will not give me a full refund because I should have cancelled within 48 hours of the move request. It hadn't even been 24 hours since I placed the initial request, and that was not stated in the quote. After arguing back & forth, I eventually hung up & called my credit card company to dispute the charges. They are taking care of it. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! read more

Zero stars if i have to. They came and picked my luggage not on time. They made me wait whole day until late night at 9:30 pm they came to pick. When the guy came, he was alone while another guy was just sitting inside the truck. My friend had to help this guy put all the luggage inside the truck. What is the use of such a service if we have to put the luggage inside. I kept asking for receipts, but never got it till date even after delivery. I am sure they have something written wrong inside to save on taxes. They don't accept cards and only cash..which sounds fishy but I had no choice as I already paid advance through card in the beginning to a broker in between. Suddenly after 9 days this guy calls in the night and tells me that my luggage will be there tomorrow at 9 am and i have to pick it. I am so much shocked that this guy threatens me to take my luggage or else he will charge more extra or take my luggage with him elsewhere. I kept telling him that how can you give me such short notice but he never listened. I even had opted a 30 day storage service which I had already told the broker. And broker told me everything is in place and truck guys will come and pick it up. And now suddenly he tells that he wont store it because i never mentioned in contract. I do not understand where did this contract came from. My talks were with the broker. It was so much frustrating to argue with him. He was bluntly threatening me that he won't give my luggage unless I pay them before unloading. And he told me that if i do not get luggage by 9:01 am which is 1 min after 9 am, then also he would charge me. That's such shit !!! I can;t believe there are people like this who treat there customers in this way. I don't know what else to do as my luggage was hostage to them. Finally when luggage arrived, everything inside truck was so untidy, nothing in place, my boxes were lying here and there, some on top and some at the bottom of someone else's furniture. I had lot of my things broken, my boxes were torn and some were even badly molded. I lost two boxes and when i asked those guys there faces were clueless. They do not know how to even speak in english. I was not able to communicate with them and they lost my TV and another box. Even now I am trying to get my lost boxes even after 2 days. They do not respond well. No one is showing interest and even the broker who did this whole deal do not help me properly. I am tired of this whole drama. The whole reason i opted for this move was so that I am comfortable. But looks like this is way more headache for me than if I had done the move by myself renting a truck. Today I again messaged the truck guy and asked him if he found the truck and his reply was - "Not yet. I'm not a superman yet". Wow...I am speechless but yet i gave him my answer - " Please reply politely. I am not here to fight with you. Let's not behave immaturely". So this is what happened. And rest assured I definitely won't find my boxes. My next steps is to claim hopefully if this broker(http://www.ezmovingvanlines.com) responds. read more

Absurdly non-reliable. Called them 3 weeks before the move and called them many times to confirm. Every time they confirm the move date without any doubt. This is the worst mover. They came a day late after a 3 day window was given, they dollied the furniture down the steps hard landing sound on each step charging us $300 more to do that to each box, they wanted to charge a $400 fee to use a credit card. Finally accepted a check and set delivery for Tuesday after the Sunday pickup. They called on Monday demanding cash to deliver furniture so since we were expecting delivery the next day did not have the cash so we were told to go to an AMT machine which have no knowledge how to use them so he said no delivery and blocked all our calls. 6 weeks later owner calls and says he will deliver soon but he requires us to go to Walmart to wire him money and he is charging another $275 for storage of furniture for 6 weeks. Another 8 days later furniture arrives with lots of damage and missing items. Had some of someone else's items too. This company is irresponsible and not customer friendly. He accepted no calls until he wanted to and was ready to deliver. He appeared greedy since we had a one bedroom and he was able to get more money by moving large homes. read more
