Amalfi Coast - Enroute to Positano - you can see the winding cliff side road carved into the mountain

This is heaven on earth. A spectacular stretch of southern Italy with cliffside towns, turquoise water, lemon groves, tiny beaches, and windy coastal roads. It is absolutely stunning and ridiculously beautiful here! My recommended spots - in order of preference. Also a crowd meter 1-3, with 3 being very crowded. * Positano. The iconic, glamorous town cascading down a cliff. Beautiful but steep, 2.5 crowded. * Ravello: A peaceful hilltop town famous for gardens, villas, music, and panoramic views. 2.0 crowded. * Maiori and Minori: Flatter, more practical towns with larger beaches and generally better value. 1.5-2.0 crowded. I really like it here. * Amalfi: Too touristy, but why not - you're here. A lively historic town with an impressive cathedral and convenient boat and bus connections. 3.0 Very crowded. Enjoy your time here at the Amalfi

YES! Rude folks? INDEED! But overall, that was to be expected especially during our time we visited. I did enjoy the boat ride there with beautiful views of cliffside homes. The folks were pleasant, but some of those other tourists, well that's an entire other story... All in all, I'm glad I got to check it off my bucket list. Would I ever return? I really can't answer that...

The staff here is incredible -- from the front desk to housekeeping, to the restaurant staff. We enjoyed a fabulous view from the balcony of our spacious and spotless room. Breakfast was wonderful and the omelets just perfect, along with many other selections. Dinner was also excellent while enjoying such a lovely view of Positano to accompany the excellent food and service. The common areas of the hotel are inviting and spacious and the pool area is wonderful with a bar and bar menu perfect for lunch while taking in the view. There are several other inviting restaurants and shops close by as well that we enjoyed during our week long stay. The hotel staff was very helpful and informed when we contacted them prior to coming with our COVID concerns. We were somewhat reluctant to resume travel during this time - but the staff made us feel very comfortable with reasonable precautions. We are so glad we decided to travel to the Poseidon!

Dash was an excellent server and very attentive. The snacks they gave with our cocktails were also delicious. The cocktails were good. Of note, in Italy, cocktails are just basic mixed drinks but they were still well made and tasted delicious so that's what matters. They also had an extensive cocktail list which was nice as most of the Amalfi Coast doesn't have an extensive cocktail list. The view here is gorgeous. It is a really nice romantic place or also just a place to watch the sky change colors as the sun goes down. It's a phenomenal view.

The front desk staff were so sweet and accommodating.. they booked me a last minute room and it was for a solo traveler, since I was single, so it was small but adorable and luxurious and with the most incredible view of the ocean and pool. You can see all of positano from your balcony. I love the cool, clean and crisp ambiance here. There is already so much ancient architecture and history in Italy so it was nice to stay somewhere newer that felt clean and fresh. The all white is very calming yet there are pops of super cool art work and coffee table books around the hotel. We loved hanging out at the pool.. you can order drinks to the lounge chairs. And the restaurant next to the pool I went to everyday for lunch. I do wish they had more gluten free / vegan options actually on the menu.. seeing as it's a hotel with lots of travelers of different diets.. but they gave me a delicious fruit plate and fresh gluten free rolls with a side of avocado which I appreciated, and luckily I'm a light eater so this worked fine. The location was great right between Praiano and Positano. And they offer free shuttles to get around since there are no Ubers and rarely taxis on the Almafi coast.. so this was very helpful. The staff went above and beyond with every detail of our stay. I've stayed in world class hotels around the globe and there is always somewhat of a snobbery or just people who aren't friendly but here they were amazing, so kind and made the whole experience perfect so I would definitely return.
