Stayed here while in Rome and did not have much of a problem. It was quite enjoyable, but it did have it's quirks so I had to reduce 1 star or it wouldn't be fair to those I gave perfect scores that were clearly superior.
First of all the location is very convenient. It is located by a metro station about 5-10 minutes walk. It is walking distance to the Vatican--depending of course on how long you can last walking. Location is a crucial part for many travelling, so I would say this is in a good spot while you venture and see Rome.
The surrounding neighborhood is also not bad at all. We always felt safe here during anytime of the day. There are a lot of stores and little restaurants around, so it is a pretty lively neighborhood although not super "touristy" compared to closer to say where Via Del Corso is (All the big brand shopping).
The staff spoke English so no problem there, and they have been helpful throughout.
The hotel itself is on a few floors starting from the 3rd floor and up. So you walk into a big building and either take a long flight of stairs, or use this super classic elevator that is only big enough to fit 4 people. Do you have luggage? Then change that to 2 people. It's cool, but anal people will probably complain about it. From the outside you may think, "Wow, this is our hotel?" But once you get to the lobby they really did an outstanding job making it a chic looking establishment. They REALLY made the most of the space.
As for the room, we got a standard room with 1 bed, and it was surprisingly more roomy then the rest of the hotel may have you imagine. IT had high ceilings and a big window to look out of. There is a flat screen TV on the wall, although not that big, it does its job and besides, unless you understand Italian you aren't watching. Or if you actually plan to make most of your vacation and not stay cooped up in the room you won't use it.
YES THERE IS A SMALL FRIDGE, but just like all hotel fridges, from here to back at home in the USA, it takes FOREVER to get cold. Don't consider your drinks to be cold until after you wake up if you put it there before you sleep.
The bathroom is plenty roomy, and the shower is spacious.. even for 2 if you plan to get kinky. There is a bidet so if this is your first time seeing one, and heard of the stories, ENJOY!
THERE IS NO GYM so think of doing your workouts in the room or take a nice run.
WIFI IS INCLUDED, but signal can vary. We stayed on the floor where the front desk is, and even then the signal IN the room can sometimes be spotty, but when you have a good signal and everything is working, speeds are pretty fast. Think 10 MBps.
BREAKFAST is included. Several pastries. More pastries then anything I would say. There are choice cuts of meats, and cheeses. Boiled eggs. An espresso machine, so take all those espresso shots you want. Cereal, yogurt (although it seems that in Europe they like their Yogurt room temp--not just here but in London and Paris as well) But the breakfast overall is satisfying. It does the job. Of course there are better, but you can't complain if its free right?
Overall a nice little hotel. I would definitely recommend it. Maybe if you had a family with kids, I would rethink it, but for a couple, it is all thumbs up from me. I had to deduct a star simply due to the internet being spotty, and although breakfast was nice, of course could always be better. But I am amazed how this establishment made the most of this space and turned it into a lovely little hotel. read more
