If you are traveling and you want to stay somewhere that offers cool, luxurious vibes that you must stay at Sofitel. I recently stayed there in Rome and it was just marvelous. They are located just 3 minutes away from the top of the Spanish Steps and a short taxi ride away from the Coliseum. In short, they are in a very convenient safe location in Rome.
When we checked in, we were greeted in French* and English and shown to our room. This trip to Italy led us to Rome twice so we had two different rooms. The first one was massive and had a view overlooking the park, a bathroom with two waterfall showerheads inside and a the comfiest bed I ever did sleep in. The second room was similar but smaller though offered a charming view overlooking some trees and an older building across the street. Both rooms however were very technologically advanced: you could press a button to summon someone rather than call downstairs, or press another one to activate 'quiet time' and when in bed, the lights could turn off from there and there were, of course, ports for chargers, individual reading lamps hovering over the bed and lights at the foot of the bed that lit up whenever you got up.
The service is easily five stars across the board. Everyone is extremely polite, mindful and very skillful with how many languages they speak. In fact, everyone speaks English so well you would forget that you are in Italy if it weren't for the beautiful accents of the staff. Sofitel is a French chain though of course they speak English and I noticed someone speaking Spanish as well. On the top floor, breakfast is served everyone a la cart or buffet. Sitting inside at the tables or at the bar was like being transported to a very chic, tropical lounge. Sitting outside is an option too and offers endless views of Roman churches, trees and the most breathtaking sunsets. The food is so f____ good it's as if someone just transported to and from a garden or jungle just to give you the freshest, highest quality food. On our last night in Rome, we sat outside to watch the sunset, hear the church bells ring and devour the most fabulous food. I have to say as great as the cocktails were you are much better off coming here for a proper meal versus just cocktails. This Sofitel location is known for their rooftop bar but it just is not the vibe to come and party with friends (though you could!) and is more for those vacationing or traveling for work.
Each time we left the hotel, we were asked how we were and where we were off to. They were so courteous in the presentation of their questions so it never seems invasive and it was just being helpful and ready to spring into action if you had questions or needs from them. When taxis pulled up, they spoke in their native Italian to ensure the drivers knew exactly where to go. After arriving back to the hotel, staff always made us feel like we just came home. Though each stay was short, I would certainly come back to this location again purely for the service, food and location. This hotel is near perfection! read more
