There are a lot of perks to staying here. The price was comparable during our stay to other hotels that don't have quite the quaint feel, level of service, or room appeal. During your stay you can get complimentary passes to a couple gyms/pools in town. You either make the walk or drive to them however. I do enjoy an attached gym and pool. That was the only downside. You can also get a free pass for a yoga class! The yoga studio is two stores down and seems so fun. I would have scheduled a massage here as it was super reasonably priced for 60 or 90 minutes, but the last booking was nabbed by the time I made up my mind. Also, free bike check out if you happen to be here during nicer weather. Too cold for us. In the room you'll find quality bath amenities, free snacks and drinks, coffee maker, water kettle, teas, and a decent sized fridge. The bathroom had ample towels and nice shampoo/conditioner/body wash dispensers (simple human). There was a hair dryer (not the best) and a lighted makeup mirror. If you've forgotten something (toothbrush/paste, razor, etc) they have some convenient supplies at their front desk per the in-room info folder. The only thing you'll want to note is that our sink/mirror was outside of the shower/bathroom if that matters to you or your roomate. Very clean and appreciate that pets are not allowed here. Would definitely stay here again. Parking: Ample street parking adjacent to the hotel during our stay.

We enjoyed the proximity to the town and the amazing view of the water from the rooftop deck. The kids enjoyed the freedom to wander around town and look in the shops, and enjoyed the game store. We watched the parade that must have had everyone in town participating! We are not from a small town. This was fun for us. The king-sized bed was comfortable, and we had a room with a soaking tub and a giant shower. The pull-out couch was "ok" according to my son. One thing I will say that was missing was a common area indoors for people to meet up and socialize outside of the restaurant. We have traveled often with these families, and we like to find areas to play cards and spend time together. The food at the restaurant was good. We had a poor experience with one of the rooftop bartenders. He looked like he had been there a long time and really had no interest in answering questions or engaging with the town. His younger companion bartender was friendly and welcoming. Advice: In the evening, it cools down tremendously on the rooftop, so you will need blankets even though there are a couple of fireplaces for ambiance.

It is also very close to Richmond in Canada where we love to go for good Cantonese food. This last trip was the second time we managed to book a presidential suite with a private hot tub in the balcony. The unit is a bit dated, but spacious and comfortable. It's also very good to know that they send service personnel to check the hot tub every other day. The resort also has clamming equipment that can be borrowed. We got a lot of huge cockles and horse clams on the beach in the Birch Bay State Park which is about a mile away. We always have a great time at this resort.

This is the closest WorldMark to the U.S. Canada Border in Blaine, which is about 6.5 miles drive from the resort. We arrived around 1:00a, check-in was fast and we were given our key cards and parking pass. As all of WorldMark by Wyndham resorts the unit was clean with a fully-equipped kitchen including a microwave, refrigerator, and stovetop along with a separate living area. We had a studio unit (only one available at time of booking) and our room was on the 5th floor. As always during our trips we never get to enjoy the hotel amenities (pool, recreation area, etc) since we always start our day out early and arrive back late. Can't waste any adventure time while on vacation. For our last evening we walked across the street to Bay Breeze Restaurant & Bar. We had a pleasant stay at this Worldmark location even though we were out most of the time. Review #3623

Beautiful view of the bay and a nice balcony to sit on for morning coffee and evening wine. The bed was SO comfortable and the sheets and blanket soft. Normally when we rent a BnB it has basic spices, foil and plastic wrap are usually available. There was nothing to wrap Leftovers in. We have stayed here a handful of times over the past 10 years and enjoyed the experience. This last visit was incredibly sub par. The room with water view, top floor unit we requested was not available as the owner decided to use it at the last minute. We were switched to a different unit that had multiple problems. There was black mold in the shower, swarms of ants in the bathroom, blood stains on the sheets, cracked areas on the microwave, stains on the carpet, a dishwasher that came out from under the counter when opening the door, bathroom fan that sounds like a jet engine, and a fire alarm that shrieks if you forget to close the bedroom door when taking a shower. The innkeepers (hotel staff) led us to believe that the owners of this suite number 203 were aware of the problems but hadn't gotten around to fixing anything and hopefully they'd take care of things during the off season. The staff said the rooms are serviced after 4 nights (we were there for 5 nights). We did request fresh towels for each day and were assured that would not be a problem, however it didn't happen. On the 4th day when I took a shower, there was no hot water. The black mold in the shower was grossing me out. Then I tried drying off with a damp towel (even though we hung them up the damp weather did not allow towels to dry from one day to the next) and I had ants all over my feet from the dead and live ones on the floor. Becky the housekeeping manager was very helpful and inspected the ant infested area (even after using traps they'd given us) and discovered holes between the baseboard and floor that she caulked and fixed the problem. Becky wanted to resolve our problems and did what she could to help. She was the one person that actively helped the situation and conveyed her concern for the issues. We felt the innkeepers were already aware of the issues but did not feel like they could remedy them, never came to the room to check on anything, and indicated we should accept the room as is. And although they did offer to let us out of our commitment for 5 nights, we could not find other accommodations in Eastsound and did not want to cancel our entire vacation. We are very sad that this property that once made us so happy has fallen so far. We will not stay there again as it seems that the management cannot require owners to properly maintain their units and we'd have no idea if the unit we'd be getting would be in good shape.

Room/Hotel & Staff: 4 out of 5 Stars. PROS - Literally every single person I came across was so genuinely nice and helpful. The hotel itself is way nicer in person than online. They need to take new pictures maybe. The room was surprisingly spacious and very clean. Loved that there was SO many towels and a nice little coffee machine. Overall very nice and cozy. CONS: We did love the big tub right in the room but was a little sad there's no actual jets in the tub. They call it a jacuzzi on their description so with that I assumed jets in the tub. The bed wasn't great, I didn't sleep very well and felt my hips hurt a little in the morning. Blankets felt very thin and cheap as well, I think I'd just bring my own blanket next time. No biggie. Casino: 4.0 out of 5 Stars. PROS: lots of great slot options, all the machines seemed very clean and maintained. If we ever had a slot that wasn't working properly it wouldn't take an attendant long at all to come right over and fix it very quickly. All casino staff seemed to be SO friendly and helpful. The Taco/Mexican restaurant is AMAZING. THE BEST carne asada over ever experienced in my life hands down. Also amazing frozen margaritas. I would go back just for this food. We ordered a lot from the express eats as well and everything there was great too. CONS: No table games at all was the biggest downside to the whole casino. And I think the only downside as well.

We lasted here about one hour and that's because I wasn't trying to be a jerk... this place was disgusting. There were spiders in the corners of the doorways, spiders on the bathroom floor & there were mosquitoes all over. After killing off countless mosquitoes we were ready to go. Oh AND there were people outside chatting it up right outside our window past midnight. No idea what they were talking about because I only know English. This place is terrible! When we informed the guy at the desk, he claimed they have a "BUG GUY" come every 2 weeks. First of all the window closure was broken so it couldn't be closed completely. The window blinds also couldn't be closed so no blocking out the light from the outside. The bathroom faucet had a steady stream that couldn't be stopped. The air conditioner barely worked, was noisy as f@!k, and since it was warm outside the room was like a sauna. And, because our room was right above the restaurant, and the window wouldn't close, it smelled like old grease. As much as I'd like to say this place has potential with some renovations, the location is seriously lacking. Yes, it has a partial view of Mt Baker but beyond that there is little " mountain" in this lodge. It's located in a flat open valley with no trees, lots a pavement, and and only a few businesses, half of which are closed. Seriously, the town of Sumas is pretty sketchy and feels more like it could be the setting of a PNW version of Breaking Bad than a mountain town. Next time we come up here we'll look into Airbnb options in Maple Falls or Glacier, not going to Sumas Mountain Lodge again.
