If you want a hotel really close to the heart of Amsterdam, this is decent option...if you're fine with a tiny no-frills room. Rooms are very small and the bathrooms are little cabins. The showers don't hold all the water inside, so make sure you don't put anything on the floor that you want to stay dry. Even with the bath mat out, the water was all over the floor of the cabin bathroom.
The beds are not very comfortable, and you get a fitted sheet and duvet. I know it's a European thing, but I was always either too hot or too cold, and never felt happy temperature-wise. Our air conditioner didn't work, and the service request we put in to have it fixed was never addressed.
It's a budget chain, so I wasn't expecting much, but it still was not as nice as I expected. We were overcharged as well.
I had a hard time from the beginning because they didn't honor our reservation as agreed. And then, they told us at checkout that we owed even more, which we begrudgingly paid. Our reservation was in US dollars, but they charged us in Euros, which made our stay 30% more than we expected. PLUS they charged us 35 euros extra per night because we had 3 people (and the website said that the room was for triple occupancy). On our second night, they were offering a special to say for 99 euros, and I took a picture of it, but we had to pay our original rate of 169 euros. They told us to talk to the booking agency for any price discrepancies. If we wanted the 99 euro rate, they would charge us directly, then we had to seek a refund from Priceline.
All in all, we paid about $200 more than we had budgeted for a subpar hotel. We could have stayed somewhere MUCH nicer for that price in the same area. I might stay at an Ibis somewhere another time if the price is right, but I feel very upset at the experience we had.
