After doing a lot of research, I found this venue as a rehearsal dinner space. It is a beautiful space, the food is fantastic and dealing with their event planner, Jaycie has been an absolute pleasure. Unfortunately, due to Covid, we've had to cancel the wedding. But I have to send thanks for their being so flexible and willing to work with me. Not the case with all vendors. I know when I have another event I will definitely be reaching back out to them! read more

We bought a pass to hang out at their pool. It's TINY! They provided towels and bottled water. They offered a few food choice including a burger and were serving us wine at the pool. They have speakers to play music, but they didn't have it on until we said something. They have wifi and you'll have to get the password from a worker. Around 17 bucks will get you a burger and fries. Nothing spectacular going on here, but a good, quiet spot to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. If you're coming for the pool, be prepared to encounter valet assistance. read more

Room stares at a length of white wall, downright claustrophobic. Looks like a snowbank in Siberia is facing the room. Place is cramped, there's no vanity area to speak of... If they remember to restock coffee, it's the decaf kind. The next day the coffee is caffeinated, but creamer is out. Not the kind of annoyances i want to deal with first thing in the morning on vacation. read more

Beautiful but disappointing. Horrible experience due to construction noise/appearance. This review wouldn't be so poor if we had known about the 2 major construction projects immediately flanking both sides of the hotel. For $500/night I would expect to be informed of the 7am hammering, drilling, sawing, etc. We were hoping to getaway and enjoy our first visit to Austin in a tranquil and relaxing hotel but unfortunately, and at no fault of the staff's, we are avoiding the hotel from 7am-7pm! I spoke to the front desk to find out about the construction and they informed me that it would be continuing throughout the weekend as well. All they could offer for my discomfort was some earplugs. For the price of this hotel I think you can do better than handing me some earplugs. So disappointing. read more

Beautiful boutique hotel. Great location. Great bar and restaurant. Will definitely return!

I had high hopes for this hotel when we first arrived late Friday night for the weekend. It was a hotel that was on my radar for the past couple of years and I was excited to try it. The front desk person was very nice and welcoming to us. I immediately noticed the carpeting was worn and frankly quite dirty as we made our way to the room. The room had great quality towels and sheets but it was not laid out very well and the sitting area had a very uncomfortable couch. The carpet was dirty here also. There was a lot of dust on the drapes and lamps and the curtain in the bathroom was dirty, wrinkled and should have been replaced years ago. The worst part about this hotel was the noise. I really didn't sleep well the entire weekend because of constant noise of varying types. A lot of talking seemed to get transmitted right into the room. At checkout the front desk person never asked us how our stay was and also never notified the valet we were waiting for our car. I don't recommend this hotel, it is exorbitantly priced for the experience. read more

We set up a happy hour event for clients at Hotel Ella and we heard nothing but great things from our clients about the event. They loved it! We loved it! We are definitely coming back and look forward to going back. The service, Robyn the events coordinator went above and beyond, the food and the bartenders rocked. This place is a gem. read more

Perfect place to stay in Austin. Staff was friendly, and attentive. Room, pool and food all exceeded expectation and you can walk everywhere from Hotel Ella. We will be back. Thank you! read more

I cannot say enough good things about this hotel! We loved every minute of our stay there. They were very accommodating. The room was huge & even with a roll away we had plenty of room to spare. The staff was helpful & bent over backwards to make our stay a good one. The hotel is beautiful & we loved hearing the history behind it! We will be back! read more

Unfortunately, I was married here on New Year's Eve and do not recommend this venue. As many others explained, Hotel Ella has high turnover with their staff, which leads to absolute chaos. A few specific lowlights about my wedding: - I reviewed the cocktail hour food stations many times, and not only did they not serve the food as we requested, the overall presentation was horrendous. - The dinner was mediocre at best; half of the guests had no dressing on their salads and others had copious amounts. My mother commented "it looked like they threw salad on the plate." - The "donut bar" was the saddest thing I ever saw in my life. The presentation was wretched and looked nothing like our request. - The night of the wedding, the on-site coordinator had no idea what she was doing, and was referencing an old timeline my terrible wedding planner (Jen from Pearl Events) gave her, despite me spending hours at Hotel Ella days before and reviewing the timeline minute by minute. - The valet staff was incompetent and rude; they had no sense of urgency and were not professional to me or my guests. - The front desk stated that they could accommodate any request, especially delivering gift bags to the room, yet my first few guests did not get their gift bags and I had to call and remind them. - They incorrectly billed parking and valet costs, even though we reviewed exact costs that should be billed to the master account. - When the new events coordinator came in, she asked me if I really needed to have confetti since "they weren't thrilled" about having to clean it up. I literally picked Hotel Ella because they could accommodate that request for my New Year's Eve wedding. - Negotiating for room blocks was awful and we still got ripped off. However I will admit, they were flexible with our attrition rate, which I was very appreciative of. Two highlights: - They customized our menu very nicely - Allowed our vendors to come the next morning because it was New Year's Eve - The architecture is beautiful for wedding photos - When I reached out with my grievances, they waived a few line items, Overall, we paid a significant amount of money for a terrible experience. read more

I liked the Hotel, but when I asked for a late checkout Andrew at the front desk was incredibly rude and refused. I have never been refused a late checkout at any other hotel. The management should reconsider this young gentleman being the face of their hotel. I won't be staying here again if he remains on staff. read more

Came here for Austin Beauty Brunch for yoga and vendors. The hotel is beautiful and I really enjoyed doing yoga overlooking the pool. Definitely would recommend someone to stay here! read more

This place is so cute and our room was so cozy! The young ladies at the front desk were very nice, professional, and knowledgeable both at time of check in and check out. My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and the staff took the time to make sure our stay was special. It was! We look forward to returning again soon. We appreciate the hospitality we received from the staff at Hotel Ella. Thank you! read more

Super disappointed in the Ella. Waited 1.5 hours past check in time to find our room has a lovely view of a fence. Also, I chose this hotel 1 mile from downtown because it has a car service. Upon check-in we learned the car service is not in service due to maintenance. Also, this hotel is $300/night! read more

Hotel Ella - Hotels Near Me - Austin, Texas

Loved the charm of this hotel. Pool was like as spa. Courtney and Chelsea were awesome. So helpful!! The rooms were super clean. Loved having free bikes to use. I'd come here again in a heartbeat. Plus 1/2 price happy hour was delightful. read more

This hotel was so charming! The folks that worked there were SO NICE AND BEYOND ACCOMODATING! Anything requested was met with such enthusiasm and done so quickly! The bridal luncheon I attended on the upstairs veranda, it was sublime. The food was beautifully presented and delicious! This is a special place with an exceptionally attentive staff. I didn't want to leave! Great experience! read more

Love this place. Small, quite, and close to everything UT. The small amount of rooms coupled with the slow paced atmosphere make this a great location in Austin. The art gives for the feel of a small European hotel. Great place. read more

This hotel is swanky and fun! I love the art work and the staff is so nice. The restaurant is wonderful and they have a lovely menu. My only drawbacks were this my room was located towards the back on the alley and the trash trucks were not fun to wake up too. The view of the next build wasn't so hot either. I also didn't like the isolation of the gym as I was traveling alone. I gave this a 4 but that was because I couldn't give it 3.5. I think if you get a pool side room you will enjoy your stay more. read more

This hotel was super cute!!! The staff was very friendly and quick to respond to emails prior to my stay. I loved that the gentleman checking me in walked over to the hallway where my room was to show me where to go. You don't get that with the big chains. Oh and seriously comfy bed and best pillows ever. No seriously, I need your pillows in my life-every day. read more

Just stayed here two nights with my girlfriend. I wanted to take her away for a little weekend getaway. We arrived late (1 am) the first night. The person working the desk was super friendly and eve parked the car for us! I booked the room on Expedia and was given a free upgrade. The bed was super soft and comfortable. I'm not used to such a soft bed, maybe I need to upgrade my bed at home! Location and history of this hotel give it a fantastic feel over the cookie cutter style of chain hotels. We had an amazing time here. Highly recommended this place if you are looking for a quiet And relaxing getaway. read more

We got married here in November 2016 and were so happy we chose this venue! We worked with Robyn on the planning, and she was so organized and on top of everything. We were constantly updating or changing items, and she was so flexible and easy to work with. We bought out the venue and if you have the group size for the hotel rooms, I would definitely recommend this. Having the whole hotel to our group not only made it feel more intimate without other guests, but the staff was so attentive to all of our needs. At the time, they didn't have the wedding packages they have now, so I can't comment on that. We got raving comments from our guests on the food, the room quality, and the overall beauty of the hotel! read more

This hotel seems like a tourist trap. The history is interesting, but it's a big letdown. The location is only good if you are visiting a college student in a dorm or other housing. No restaurants other shops within short distances. The place is covered in a layer of old dust and dirt on the drapes carpets, etc. They surfaces behind the bar look like they haven't been cleaned in years. The furniture in the rooms is strange. The beds have nice linen, the towels and wash clothes are nice as are the soaps. The shampoo, conditioner and body wash are in large dispensers so you know prior customers have had to handle them and it just seems really unsanitary. The noise level from the parties, after parties, and dining areas make the make the experience horrible customers not there for the events. Totally unacceptable experience for the price. We spent $700 for 2 nights and didn't rest well or feel comfortable walking an the carpet in our room without socks or shoes on. I would not recommend this place. read more

We had our wedding here in July and it was wonderful! Hotel Ella's staff were fantastic, they treated us and our guests with such professionalism and hospitality! The food was amazing - people are still raving to me about how great it was. The ballroom was beautiful and the whole energy of the hotel made the day go off so smooth! Would definitely recommend as an ideal location in Austin! read more

Thank you Hotel Ella for a wonderful stay over the Christmas Holiday. I was sitting in a house surrounded by moving boxes after a failed close with a local builder. DEPRESSING! I didn't want to just sit around staring at boxes so I packed up and headed to Hotel Ella for the holidays! The people were fantastic. The bar area is awesome with great hand mixed cocktails. The restaurant Goodall's was fantastic. I highly recommend the charred carrot salad and the gnocchi entree...... off the hook good. We ordered room service several times and were never disappointed. The hotel even upgraded us to a king suite with a pool/courtyard view. Just cannot tell you how much better you made my Christmas. Thank you!!! read more

I booked a room at Hotel Ella for a Josh Groban concert at Bass concert hall in Austin, TX. Josh Groban cancelled 24 hours before the concert due to illness so I no longer needed the room. The hotel's unbending 48 hour cancellation policy stinks. I paid $640 (incl taxes) for a room I didn't need. I called twice to discuss this and nothing could be done for me. That's poor customer service in my opinion. Couldn't they have offered to knock SOMETHING off my bill? It was a Formula 1 weekend and UT had a home game. Surely my room was utilized. I will never book Hotel Ella again and I, unfortunately, never even had the chance to step foot in the hotel. VERY disappointing. read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Staff was very unkind with a booking error on my part. Very disappointed that they could not make an accommodation for an error on a hotel when they were clearly not fully booked. Be careful. I have never had such poor customer service. I was offended at how horrible the staff treated me for even asking such a simple question. read more

Be aware that this is an older, historic hotel, but it is very romantic, clean, and updated. Staff were extremely serving and friendly. Jacob, our bell man was very helpful as was James, the bartender. Close enough to the action, but far enough away to be relaxing and quiet. My wife and I came here for a weekend getaway during ACL, and we were very pleased. We especially enjoyed the second floor outdoor deck and the indoor/outdoor cocktail lounge. Our room was very large, but lacked a full length mirror which a minor inconvenience for my wife. The complimentary car service was a nice surprise. We would definitely stay here again. read more

I stayed here Friday and Sunday nights of last weekend. The hotel manager and the rest of the staff were super friendly and accommodating. This place has so much charm and character. Came during SXSW for free drinks. This place is beautiful. Gorgeous lawn out front and everyone is super nice. Did not stay here so I can't speak to that experience. Hope you give it a shot and enjoy it read more

First off; the front desk staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the area. They walked me to my room which adds the perfect touch after traveling all day and having a nice lite conversation. Secondly; the bar at this hotel is top notch. The two bartenders working both made some of the best drinks I have ever had. I have been to 27 countries and enjoined cocktails all over the world and the fresh ingredients that are used at the Ella bar make all the difference, this bar is definitely in my top 5 places to have a drink. This hotel and bar understand that the small details turn a good experience into an amazing one. Thank you to the friendly and superlative staff for everything. read more

I was at Hotel Ella for a fundraiser last night as the photographer. It was beautiful and the staff was beyond accommodating.

My mom, sister and I were excited to try afternoon tea during our girls' weekend in Austin. We made a reservation within the required 48 hour window and submitted the credit card authorization (which said to return at our earliest convenience) late the night before our 4 PM reservation. We arrived on time and the hostess immediately goes to get another girl to speak with us. The second girl tells us we need a reservation and when we tell her we have one, she awkwardly pauses and then makes up some shady story about not receiving our credit card authorization on time, needing 24 hours to prepare the chef (keep in mind this is tea with pastries and tea sandwiches) and says she's been trying to call us all morning and emailed us. We did not get an email other than the first one with the form and did not receive or miss one phone call from their number, and on top of that, had called from the cell phone they "had been trying to reach all morning" earlier in the day to ask about the dress code and nothing at all was mentioned about having been trying to call or an issue with our reservation. There was something very off about the whole situation and we not only felt like we had been lied to, but there was also no empathy or attempt to keep or reschedule our business. The tea room had maybe 3 tables seated, so it's not like they didn't have the space for us. read more

I only stayed here one night but what a cute hotel! I pulled up and valet quickly assisted me with my luggage and check-in. Within 10 minutes I was in my quaint little room and Iggy was incredibly helpful and friendly while getting my luggage there. Because it rained I didn't get to enjoy the outdoor area very much but from what I could see they maintain the space very well. read more

Lovely boutique hotel. The hip vibe is great. It's in a historic mansion that is updated with every amenity. Cool pool and great bar.

I purchased a day pass for the Hotel Ella pool while I was waiting for other friends to arrive in to town and it was amazing! First, I can't say enough about the friendly and attentive staff. From greeting me at the desk, walking me over to the pool, showing me where to change, bringing me ice water (without having to ask)- all the staff were incredibly nice. Maybe it's just southern hospitality but it definitely didn't go unnoticed. The water was warm and I spent pretty much the entire day in the pool because it was 100 degrees. The pool is small, but perfect for cooling off. The atmosphere in the pool area feels upscale and peaceful. Also, I ordered the spinach salad with chicken for lunch and it was AMAZING! One of the best salads I've ever had! (Seriously). Thank you Hotel Ella for a wonderful, relaxing pool day. If I ever come back to Austin I will definitely be back! read more

The hotel is lovely and the staff is gracious and helpful. It's conveniently located near campus and has beautifully maintained grounds. The downside of being near campus is that there are LOUD parties right next door. May not be the best place to stay if you want to get some sleep in your hotel room. read more
