All I can say is, thank goodness we were only staying in Amsterdam for a night..
Walking through the narrow 1 person entrance in April of 2017, it seemed like they were doing a whole renovation/tear down of the place. The tiles were torn up so we were just walking on concrete and fragments of tile left behind. We were a bit early for check-in so we left our luggage at the front desk. Came back at 11:30am and the lady handed us our keys (booked 2 rooms - 1st room was 2 person and 2nd room was 3 person). When we opened the door to our room, there were beer cans all over the floor, the beds were unmade and a mess, etc. Yes, they handed us the keys when the room wasn't even ready. We let them know and left our luggage in the other room, which was a tiny room that could barely fit 5 people in.
Came back later in the day and our room was "cleaned". I would not recommend walking barefoot in the rooms. Small and tight, I guess you can call it "cozy". The bathroom felt filthy, but the biggest complaint was the light in the bathroom automatically shuts off if there is no movement within the facility. So..if you are showering, the curtain is drawn..and yes, you guessed it..the lights shut off and you have to come out and wave your arms around as the chain to manually turn it back on is at the entrance of the doorway (the lights shut off on me 3 times during my 5 minute shower).
Not sure if it was because they were renovating..but it was NOTHING like the photos we saw online. This stay was an absolute nightmare and I would not recommend booking this hotel, although it was cheap..go figure. read more
