My hubby & I, stayed at this boutique-style hotel (09/26/2023-09/29/2023), while visiting Paris for the 1st time to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary (yep, love is in the air!)
And because I'm such a kind human ;), I just wanted to leave a more recent review (last review is 5 yrs old) to share our experience while staying at Hotel Champerret Heliopolis (HCH) & also to share helpful info & FYI(s) for anyone else who is thinking about booking a room at HCH.
**** Helpful Info / FYI(s) ****
** Location **
Hotel is located in an area that felt very safe & quiet. And was w/in walking distance to several cafes, restaurants, small grocery store, a small outdoor "farmers market", & even a Paris McDonald's:)).
At night we did explore the area around the hotel & after a certain time, the streets were very quiet & empty because many of the surrounding businesses do close early.
We took an Uber from the hotel to the CDG airport & the total cost was $51. (Helpful tip -- reserve your Uber ride the day before, via the Uber app & give yourself plenty of time to get there because Paris traffic sucks big hairy toes & can take foreverrr)
** Room Details **
We stayed in a standard double room (double bed, very comfortable) that was small (normal for Paris) but was very clean (housekeeping will come daily & is very thorough!).
We stayed in room #108 that is described as being on the 1st floor but you do have to walk up a small flight of stairs to get to it (still scratching my head on that one). This room does have a window view that just gave all the Paris vibes. :)
The room decor was a bit outdated & boring but no biggie, I wasn't in Paris to stay in our hotel room admiring pretty decor.
Glad to report that the shower had hot water, however there was no shower curtain or shower door but instead had a small shower "partition" that was a funky design w/ only covering about a 1/3 of the shower tub. The other "eh" w/ our room is that the bathroom door was hard to open & close.
You really had to pull on it hard to slam it shut (very loud) & pull on it hard to open it up. I did struggle w/ this & it usually took me a few tries before I could open or close the door.
** Amenities **
(Included)
- WiFi
- TV - all of the channels were in French so we couldn't understand a thing. It really wasn't an issue for us since our stay was very short & we were out exploring & being tourists most of the time )
- Hairdryer
(Not Included)
- No AC - The rooms do not have AC but did have a small fan. Surprisingly, not having ac was not an issue for us.
We're from Texas so we can get "separation anxiety" if away from our ac for to long ;) so thankfully, the weather was perfect during our stay (late September) so at night the small fan provided was enough to keep us comfortable while sleeping (window closed) & during the day, we would open our window to let the breeze in & having the window open also added to the romantic feeling, that is Paris (see pic & video included in this review of our room window view).
- No iron -we bought a small portable iron w/ us
- No small face/hand towels (normal for Europe) we bought our own
** Breakfast **
Hotel does not offer free breakfast for guests but you can buy continental breakfast when booking your room (€11.50 per person daily). Breakfast options are cereal, croissants, jam, & applesauce, & a few other "grab & go item" (no hot options- bacon, eggs, etc)
** Room Key **
You do have to give your room key to the front desk employee each time you leave & get it back from them upon your return. Kinda weird & not our usual experience but since there was an employee always at the front desk, it wasn't a big issue or inconvenience for us.
We did ask why this was their key policy & we were told in case there was a fire, they would know how many guests were in their rooms.
To sum it up, this hotel is perfect for anyone looking to stay in a low-key, quiet area.
For those looking to stay conveniently located to a busy nightlife area, this hotel might not be for you.
Hope this info helps!
Till next time,
