We enjoy staying here because it is very clean, very quiet and comfortable. Additionally, it is less than a 2min walk to Lepanto Metro and a major bus stop, so it is convenient as well. Another Rick Steve's discovery . . .
Nestled in a quiet neighborhood along a tree-lined street, Casa Valdese seems to attract German tourists (at least during our 2 visits). Free breakfast is good, and typically European (e.g., breads, meats, cheeses, pastries, cereal, etc.). They also offer dinner, though we have never tried it. Two things we really like: an honor beverage bar allows you to choose from a variety of bottled wine/beer/water. You simply log what you take, and settle at checkout; the 4th floor covered terrace is a great place to sit and relax and view the city (don't miss the side stairway that takes you up one more level--St Peters looks wonderful).
Casa Valdese is simple and relaxing. A perfect place to stay for any couple, any age, that want to spend more time exploring Roma from dawn-to-dusk, than laying around a hotel room.
Salut!
