The NH Collection is o d if the local upscale hotels in Rome. This specific location I found to be the most centered to transportation and some walkable restaurants. Most, not all of the staff that works here is fairly friendly, and they embrace the tourists. By European standards, this is a five star hotel. Based on amenities, not only in the rooms, but also the amenities within the hotel, I can see how European's would feel that way. The reality is that this is closer to a four star experience at the most. We were given a fairly spacious room, with a lovely living area, and the bathroom was absolutely huge. My picture doesn't depict the true size, based on my experience, the bathroom was super spacious. The bathroom included a bidet, a tub/shower , and they offered plenty of towels. The mini bar/mini fridge in the living area was a nice out of touch. Housekeeping apparently unplugged everything when guests are not using the room. The beds were fairly comfortable, but nothing to necessarily write home about. The entire living quarters was absolutely spotless and clean, and they offer daily housekeeping. We found this location to be one of the best in terms of it, being fairly close to a variety of local transportation, and some of the neighborhood. Restaurants offered some pretty delicious food choices. All from places that ironically did not necessarily show up on yelp. This definitely was a five star in terms of cost, so buyer, beware. If for some reason you end up, renting a car and driving, this would not be the hotel that I would suggest. Parking at this location, as well as, at many places in and around Rome, just do not offer parking accommodations. Travelers tip: you really don't need to rent a car while you're in Rome. Transportation is plentiful whether you decide you want to take the train, buses, or a car service. Enjoy your time there seeing things, rather than driving! read more

I just wanted a wash cloth. I asked several times and kept getting hand towels (the big ones). Idk if it was a cultural thing or not but it was annoying. 5 out of 5 I have read reviews about this hotel prior to our stay so I kept my expectation at the minimum. Is that why I am rating it 5 out of 5? Not really. I think for what I paid for, their services have exceeded the expectations. Service Based on our first impression during our arrival in Italy, the people seem to either avoid speaking with Americans or speaking in English in general (Americans will find this rude because we are used to being greeted all the time). The fact that their staff greeted and tried their best to help us in any way possible is well appreciated. Their staff at the front desk and every shift in their restaurant have been very warm and welcoming. Our junior suite is nice. Although my mom and requested for two beds, we were okay with just one during our stay considering that what we asked was a request. The bathroom is quite interesting here with two kinds of toilet. I've only seen something similar in the middle east. It's a little cramped here, but it works out. The tub is quite elevated. I find myself climbing up there to make it to the shower. That's one of my complaints, but it's not bad. It might be like that in general. We have a small balcony by our room which is really nice to have. I have no problems with the towels and bathroom amenities that we had like what I READ from other reviews. THE BREAKFAST BUFFET This is probably my favorite. We were greeted as soon as we walked in, and we were served with whatever drink we wish even if they are available for us to get ourselves. The staff is really nice and welcoming. The food choices is extensive! Definitely stuff yourselves before your journey in this beautiful city. The food quality is good especially for a buffet. LOCATION 10 minute walk from the Vatican Museum and St. Angelo's Castle. It's very close to shopping stores, a supermarket, multiple churches, and the areas of sightseeing in the city. Definitely wear walking shoes because everywhere you go, there's a view to enjoy. My mom and I walked around the city with no problem and definitely enjoyed our little escapade! read more

I've never been more disappointed in any hotel stay ever. I highly recommend not choosing to stay here. The front staff is beyond rude. The breakfast is some of the worst hotel breakfasts I've ever encountered. Customer service does not exist here. We booked this thru our Costco travel and was blown away on how bad the stay was. We did enjoy the location because it was quiet. Stay anywhere else. This also coming from staying at previous NH Hotels. Also, I am pretty sure they got the baby crib out of a dumpster. Not being familiar with Rome and the hotels here, I can only compare to other hotels I've stayed in. The hotel is nice looking and the room was spacious for we had chosen junior suites. Overall I found the room to be clean and spacious. The balcony was a plus, and maybe I'm not able to give this establishment a fare review as we only stayed one night. So I will rate it generously. This is the worst hotel experience I've ever endured. 3 of the 4 hotel concierge staff were incredibly dismissive and flat out rude. They seemed to have a problem with American tourists, but were terribly nice to Italian-speaking Europeans... On top of that: 1) Check-in took 30 min. at the counter because our room wasn't ready. 2) The bathroom smelled like cigarette smoke on the first night. 3) They only gave us 1 towel/robe and toiletry set -- but there were 3 of us staying in the hotel. (I see Christina M. also posted a similar experience.) 4) The hotel bar was supposedly open 24/7, but we only saw someone there once. The above is what we experienced on the first night. It's the last thing we wanted to deal with after a long flight. The subsequent nights were not much better. We booked this hotel only because it was offered through a Costco Travel package and had 4 stars. This hotel deserves 2 stars at best. The only saving grace was the excellent hotel breakfast, but I'd rather have no breakfast + good service. I highly suggest fellow travelers report their grievances to Costco Travel so that this hotel is dropped from the list of options in Rome. read more

This was our last leg of Rome trip. In Florence we stayed at the NH collection Porta Rossa and it was amazing. This location in Rome was not up to par. We had to change rooms as soon as we got here as the first one reeked of cigarettes. There was no iron in room. You had to go to the gym room to iron. Several times the desk did not answer the phone and the temperature could not be controlled. We opened and closed the patio door to cool down the room in winter. read more

This hotel would be a slam dunk, 4 star + review if not for 2 things - towels and a/c. I know what you are thinking towelsI? How picky can you get. Hear me out! We got the NH and were delighted with our room. Huge bedroom, comfy bed, great bathroom, armoires, gigantic TV - the works! Then we look in the bathroom and notice that it has exactly 1 towel in it. No biggie right? I try to call down to get more. No answer. I go down to the front desk (where another in my tour party is complaining they only have 1 towel!) and the front desk clerk nods and writes our room numbers on a piece of paper that looked like trash. We come back from dinner and still no towels. I call and go down again. Nothing. So my husband and I share 1 towel! Oh, then we notice that the a/c turns itself off after like 20 minutes and flashes an error code. So the next morning, I have had it and go down and tell a new person we need more towels. She nods and writes down our room number again. Then I try to tell her our a/c doesn't work and she doesn't believe me! That is until I say is flashing error code ### - she then says, oh OK, then I will send someone up! Really? Whatever, it gets fixed. We take some towels off the maid cart and that is that. They were weirdly rude and unhelpful. However, the room was nice. Really great location to shopping, restaurants and the vatican area. That can't be beat! read more

We called the front desk for room service and they told us to call the restaurant. We called the restaurant and they never answered. Called the front desk back and they said just come down to the restaurant and order. There is no bar and they claim they have one. They have a mini bar with one beer that requires a bottle opener and the person who delivered the bottle opener told me to open and then give back to him like I was going to steal it. Staying here on business. I have heard there are some beautiful rooms here. I didn't get one of those. I'm used to small European rooms but this one felt super cramped. The trash can in the bathroom was broken. The toilet made strange squeaking noises and the door must not be adjusted right into the bathroom. If it wasn't closed it kept hitting you. Not pleasant. There wasn't much counter space in the bathroom and everything felt really tight. The room was wonderfully cold and the bed was fine. Hopefully next time I'm here I'll get one of the great rooms I have heard about. read more

I was very disappointed in this hotel!! I'm not sure how they got a 4 star rating through Costco but I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! Here are all my reasons why I would never recommend this hotel: 1. They ONLY provide you with one robe and towel even if there was my husband and I. I had to take some off the cleaning ladies cart! 2. The bed is solid rock hard! I had to sleep on the small couch because the bed was so hard and after our stay here my back was aching for our entire trip. 3. The toilet seat is not even attached to the toilet!! I kept sliding everywhere being scared I was going to fall in the toilet bowl! 4. The shower bath tub is extremely high to get in and out of. Many times I almost slipped. What happened if I was elderly? 5. No free breakfast like the other nice hotels. 6. The air conditioner didn't work at all! It was like a sauna in our room. Had to keep the windows open just so we can get cool air come thru. If you're thinking of staying here then save your money and go elsewhere. Not worth it all. read more

We got this hotel booked through Costco. It's about 10 minutes walk to the Vatican and within walking distance to other attractions in Rome since we walked everywhere while we were in Rome. Our room was spacious and clean. The free breakfast buffet we had every morning was to die for. Even the croissants alone were worth the trip to Europe. There were at least 5 different types of croissants, each with different fruit filling inside. We especially love the ones with the apricot filling and another one with some kind of filling that I don't know but it was so good. There were many different stations with a variety of food: different types of bread that go with jam and butter, meats and cheeses, fresh fruits, yogurts, desserts, cookies, fruit juices, teas and coffee on top of the typical American breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon. They also had omelettes made to order. Best breakfast buffet in Europe. The people at the front desk are super nice. They gave us recommendations for nearby restaurants whenever we didn't feel like walking too far to grab a bite to eat. Overall we had an enjoyable stay and definitely would like to come back again on our next trip to Rome. read more

We stayed here three nights and enjoyed it. We had a spacious suite at the end of the hallway. The hotel decor is fairly generic but everything is new and works well. We especially appreciated the powerful air conditioner, which has its outlets conveniently located over the bed (there was a string of 90+ degree Fahrenheit days while we were there). The bathroom was a little cramped and had a tiny amount of counter space next to the sink, so we ended up leaving most of our toiletries outside and carrying them inside as needed. The hotel is well located in the old town, near the Vatican and Castel Sant'Angelo. There are lots of little restaurants and shops within 2 or 3 blocks. There's no ATM in the hotel but there's one outside the post office next door. The included breakfast buffet was yummy and had a wide variety of foods. The sweet pastries were especially good. We ordered room service one night and it was pretty good and not ridiculously expensive. The restaurant is advertised to be open late but actually only the bar is open and you can eat there. There was only one waitress/barkeep serving the whole area, and she had to run back to the restaurant part for any non-drink items, so service was slow. It took us about and hour and a half total for a simple meal of bread and pasta. read more

This little sanctuary is in a wonderful location. Easy walk from the Lepanto metro stop, and really walkable to most other places as well. Definite 10 minute walk to the Vatican, and you can be across the river in no time as well. I'm a walker but had no problem getting to Trevi Fountain and most of the standard tourist destinations from here on foot. Prati is a lovely walkable neighborhood. Tons of fun shops, fresh markets, bakeries and dining options in the area as well. Front desk staff was warm and friendly, although minus one star for the long wait. We got there before check in time, and I was surprised that they did have a room available, albeit not one with the two twins I'd requested. That room wasn't available until after 4, an hour after check in time, which was mildly irritating. No issue with holding our bags though and we used that time to scout the area. Room was spacious and very clean. Likewise for the bathroom. Excellent water pressure in the shower to boot. Nice linens, one set of towels. Call to housekeeping quickly brought two more bath towels, but not an entire set. Boo. Lots of closet space and a mini fridge. Score. Also a nice balcony: overlooking a wretched interior view. Guess why there were no chairs out there. Breakfast buffet was a great treat- lots and lots of options. I even saw some gluten free treats, alternative milks, tons of breads and pastries, lots of beverage options and two coffee machines to cut back on the wait times. Lots of wait staff making everything look pretty, but don't expect to get your dirty plates cleared quickly. All in all, I would return. The location can't be beat. This is a basically a standard business hotel. Don't expect any special charms or uniqueness...if you are looking for a restored monastery or exquisite old architectural elements, this isn't your place. That's not a negative btw. After a week of tiny elevators, odd shaped rooms, and other quirkiness, I was happy to enjoy the sterile clean order of a well run chain hotel. We stayed here for 3 nights during our tour of Italy. Our first night here the AC didn't work and when we went to complain the next morning they didn't seem to believe us until we told them the error code that was on the display. When we got back that night everything was fine. They also refused to give us more than 1 towel per day for our stay there (for 2 people).We complained several times our first day and they finally gave us another one, but then the rest of the time we only got 1 towel. The bed was super comfortable. The hotel is in a great location, which is really about the best thing I can say about it. read more

This is a very nice hotel in a perfect location ... right between the Vatican and the Historic area ... we walked all over Rome and didn't need to take taxi. The suite room, even though was very big and nice, it didn't have enough drawers for 2 people to put their clothes, and the bathroom, even though has 2 showers, didn't have space to put all the bathroom supplies you bring with you. The breakfast buffet was amazing ... it has somebody for everybody, pastries, hams, cheeses, eggs, fruit salad, yogurts, etc etc Totally recommend this hotel. read more

Second time in Rome . First time stayed close to coliseum and decided to stay near Vatican this time. This was a great choice for us. The hotel is perfectly located. I stayed here for 5 nights with my girlfriend for new years. It was a good location close to the Vatican. But wasn't surrounded by tourists when you wanted to just walk the streets. The staff was friendly and helped with anything I asked. I didn't speak any Italian other then " good morning, thank you, and a beer please" and it was no problem. Plenty of good restaurants nearby. The hotels food was ok as well just a little overpriced. The woman who cleaned our room was fantastic and professional. Overall a great hotel for a fair price in a nice area.
