We booked the Wales room this past weekend in January, the off-season, so it was quite a good deal. I also had a coupon from a book on Bed & Breakfasts which I'd just received as a gift. Breakers Inn was kind enough to honor it even though it was about to expire. The Wales room was very clean but alittle dull. In light of the recent royal wedding, it would be nice if they updated the framed pictures. None included actual royalty, just maps and places in Wales. The beds were comfortable but some sprung springs could be heard. The linens were adequate, not scratchy industrial sheets, but not high-threadcount luxury either. Hint: I'd pay more for that! The comfy chairs by the window were very nice, and we enjoye the deck and the view immensely. Our biggest disappointment was that housekeeping did not clean our room on the one day we put the tag on our door. Illness, short staff, forgetting we were staying an extra night, and struggling to cover the new restaurant apparently all contributed to that error. Being the one who does all the cleaning up at home, I was particularly heart-broken (raging mad) to have to make the beds, change the towels, take out the dirty mugs & cups & trash, and basically everything I like to get away from on a trip. The staff was very apologetic and made up for it with some very nice port and a free chocolate mousse with our room serviced dinner. It's important to note that Breakers Inn is in reality not a Bed & Breakfast, but more of a condo/hotel. So the rooms are much larger than a regular B&B.The bathroom we had just a little larger than the dorm room I had in college. The jacuzzi tub was lovely and the provision of toiletries very ample. Since the rooms are on top of eachother and next to eachother, I can understand how there might be a noise problem when they are at full capacity as noted in another review. We had no noise problem and slept wonderfully with our cozy fireplace, separate beds so my husband could snore away, and the wonderful sounds of the breakers to lull us to sleep. I still miss that sound, and keep thinking if I could open a door on my bedroom at home, I'd still be able to hear it. So, since it is not a B&B, you should note that there is no breakfast included. They have a very nice restaurant attached which they had just opened at the beginning of the month, and they were still struggling to organize who does what and so forth. We had very nice coffee, eggs benedict, oatmeal with walnuts and golden raisins, and very friendly, chatty service. I could tell they really cared about the service and getting things together. My husband pointed out a swinging door to the kitchen was squeaking, and they oiled it right away. We had a lot of fun there watching the service come together, since we are big Gordon Ramsay fans. Free wi-fi is included, but visistors should be aware that Mendocino has no fiberoptic cables, and so computer and tv is all provided by satellite. Consequently it is so spotty as to be non-existent, or extrememly frustrating at best. Even our cellphones didn't work. So if you want entertainment, bring your own music and dvd's - there's also a video rental place within walking distance, and a knitting shop too which provided me much needed hand occupation while we were stuck inside due to pouring rain. Fortunately we got one sunny day to drive up to Mendocino proper and Fort Bragg. It's all lovely there and an experience not to be missed in California. read more

Love the Japan Room. The decor is a simple and sophisticated Japanese inspired aesthetic. The dark wood and leather touches were just the kind of thing my partner and I were hoping for since the majority of the rooms here are a little to fancy and flowery for our taste. The earthy interior has rich warm tones that blend well with the natural splendor of Gualala. The view out ouf the window is breathtaking. A jacuzzi tub near the window and a fireplace made for a very relaxing evening. By far the best combination of amenities I have ever had in one room. Bring snacks and drinks so you can take advantage of the fridge, microwave and wet bar. BTW the pizza place across the street is a must do. Get it togo and enjoy the view from this incredible vantage point. One downside is the last time we stayed here we were on a higher floor and felt comfortable leaving the door open so we could hear the sound of the water throughout the night. Because the Japan Room is on the first floor we did not feel like leaving the door open while we slept. That said, being on the first floor also means you get to have beautiful stocks of flowered foliage right out side of the back deck. There are always trade offs and this is one worth making if you like the feeling of being nestled in garden setting. read more

Pros: The Vue restaurant is wonderful. Great views, food, and service. The Breakers room we had was fantastic view; but that was it. Cons: For the price paid we expected much more. When you call front desk, even during business hrs, noone ever answered. We had to walk to front office for our complaints. We reserved the Luxury Ocean View room. It had a beautiful bathtub in the room near ocean view; but there was no privacy. Bathtub plumbing leaked and caused puddle on floor. No curtains or blinds! The manager told us that room does not come with curtains or blinds. Really? I saw the brackets hanging as if blinds were removed for some reason. So we had to pin up bed sheet so wife could take luxurious bath. Room floors are heated which was very nice. Ocean view deck was filthy. The glass see thru deck walls were not cleaned at all. Bird poop all over. We had to ask for another room w/privacy. We took a stroll and saw other rooms that had blinds or curtains. Our second room was not as huge as first room D-4; but it had privacy. No outside table, so we had to use our garbage pail upside down as a small table. Overall the cleanliness was the worst part. There was no Covid-19 cleaning protocol used at all. We have stayed at this Hotel many times. It seems like maybe we have new owners.....again. No one was in the office, all locked up. We waited, a man said, "oh, my guy is in the Restaurant. I will go get him". We waited, waited waited. Finally I walked to the Vue and saw the man there. I asked about checking in and he acted like he forgot. I walked to the bathroom,that pissed them off. Told me I had to be a customer, i said I was, at the hotel and kept walking. 4 hr drive, sorta had to pee, like now! Walked back to the hotel, pushed the call button, waited another 10 min before a man finally came out the door and said HE was in the bathroom. Damn! For 35 min? WOW They raised the rates, even the deluxe room is not worth 250.00 a night. And they NO LONGEr give you a log for the fire. However, they boast of fireplaces in the rooms, never told us to bring our own either. We will try somewhere new now. read more

I have to say that I have been coming here for 6 years now and me and my husband love it! The view and the sound of the ocean is wonderful! It's a great getaway and we had a couple staying under us one time that just got engaged! They were so happy, and enounced it to us on our balcony. We have had always a good time here and regardless of other peoples reviews, I think it's what you make it to be. If you want to have a good time you will. Like, I said I have been coming here along time and I have stayed on the bottom floor and the top floor. If you want a tub in the room, stay on the bottom floor. If you want vaulted ceilings stay on the topfloor. I like to try a different room each time we come and just for a different feeling. The is quiet and the vaulted roof top gives it a bigger sense of space. The town is small and the beach is nice to walk on and one time we saw a whale and seals. It's just nice to get away and have peace and quiet and to be alone. When we arrived this weekend were offered if you stay two nights you can have one more night free. They have deals and in the mail we receive coupons in the mail for 25% off and it's great. Hope people have a great stay and like it as much as we do. read more

This place is fine but not great! It has a couple very redeeming qualities: 1. The view from the room is absolutely beautiful and I love the private deck! 2. The room was very clean - which I appreciated 3. The huge bathtub with jets is awesome 4. The breakfast was great for a continental free breakfast, definitely better than I expected 5. Big room and the bed was comfortable The problems: 1. It could use some fixing up. 2. The key to the door was really hard to use. I mean it. I tried, and my husband who is really good at that kind of thing tried and every time it took a couple tries to open 3. The decor leaves much to be desired 4. My husband and I packed a small bag and headed to Bodega Bay for possibly a quick overnighter. We decided to continue on into Gualala where we found this adorable Inn on the beach! Just two rooms left with affordable pricing, so we took one! It was absolutely such a charming Inn!! All the rooms have a beach view from the balcony. What a way to watch the sunset with a nice bottle of wine! Had an amazing dinner right next-door at the Vue. Cannot say enough about this place! We will definitely be going back! read more

This place was pretty cool...maybe my girlfriend and i are not always easy to please but we stayed here for 2 nights and had a great time. we had booked the San francisco room but when we arrived, we were told that the room smelled ''funky'' by the friendly desk staff. props for the honesty and not trying to just put us in the room anyway. we were offered a comparable room, the Oregon room with a 10% discount for not being able to give us our original choice which i almost feel bad about now because the oregon room was a better choice being that it's balcony is on the downwind side of the building offering some protection from that nor-cal afternoon wind. the view is beautiful and it's nice to fall asleep to the sound of pounding surf. the room was clean and the bed was comfy and everything worked as it should. jacuzzi tub, dvd player/tv and the wifi signal was perfectly adequate. my only real complaints are, 1, that the balcony needed to be swept, there a bunch of cute little birds that hang out but they also leave poop on the balcony so having to put shoes on to hang out there was kind of a bummer but not really, hey, it's the beach. and 2, having a fireplace in the room is great, but you're only allowed to burn duraflame logs. no real firewood allowed which was a bummer because we brought a few nice pieces of firewood from home in the trunk of my car for nothing. over all, it was nice and not too pricey for a big room with a view. we will be back. read more

They haven't invested any money into this place in years. Carpet is disgusting and reminds me of the nugget. The balconies haven't been washed off in weeks. Cigarette butts all over and I have little kids. I dont know why I didn't stay at the sea cliff again like last time. Big mistake. The only thing top notch about this place is the price. read more

It's up on the coast of California, north of San Francisco a ways. Not a big place. But, you know, once you've been to Gualala you'll never forget the wonderful time you had there. You'd love it. Breakers inn "Pioneer Room" great view ...catching the sunset.... Really Priceless. (I know cheesy but true) I can smell that clean salt air and see the seals and pelicans... I don't know what it is about that area that always seems so calm and natural. I came home feeling like I've found a special private retreat where I can always go when I need to just relax, kick back and have fun. Me and the beach. Note* the WiFi is free but hard to get on the ground floor. I really didn't need to be connected to the world ... I was on a 375 mile motorcycle ride ...weekend get away. Great place... We stayed in the Canada room, which was the best available on short notice. It was cozy and romantic. There are some cute shops and several places to get food, including several grocery stores and a decent pizza place. If we can again I'd try to stay in the Japan or California rooms which offer a jacuzzi overlooking the ocean and steam saunas in each room. read more

What a wonderful place; the town of Gualala is an awesome getaway and this hotel is a slice of paradise! I intended to stay only one night - then I discovered my room had a hot tub and a fireplace right by the window and balcony so I could soak my tired bones and soak in the sunset view over the Pacific with a fire going. Are you kidding me? IT WAS GREAT!! Stayed four days in two different rooms and am already planning a romantic getaway trip with my wife. The drive from San Francisco along the coast is spectacular and when you get here, you really are away. I stayed at the breakers inn a few weeks ago with a friend. We were in town for a wedding and got a suite there. It was perfect - great views of the ocean, clean room, jacuzzi in the bathroom and our own fireplace - everything was totally relaxing. I would definitely recommend staying here. The woman at the front desk was also very friendly. On top of our great stay, I left a pair of earrings in the room and they mailed them back to my home!! So sweet of them. Fell asleep last night to the roar of ocean and the glow of a cozy fireplace! Pure luxury at bargain prices! We are staying in a large, immaculate and tastefully decorated room RIGHT ON THE WATER! Spacous sitting room and deck overlook amazing views of the Pacific! A handy step ladder helps you crawl into your very comfortable four poster bed, with gorgeous and elaborately carved posts, leaded glass window and transom. 9Huge tiled bath with shower and enormous jacuzzi, fireplace, microwave, fridge, coffee maker and wet bar all combine to create a welcoming retreat. The lovely lady in the office is accommodating and adorable! I am surprised by some of the other reviews. Obviously not everyone has enjoyed the same experience. But our incredible stay at The Breakers Inn has, so far, been perfect! read more

We have stayed at the Breakers twice. Both times we were quite pleased with the accommodations. There are a few quirks, which I will address below, but I still give it five stars because the minor problems do not really detract from the overall enjoyment of the stay. We come here to get away from the daily grind, and to decompress. For those purposes, the Breakers is just perfect. The town is quiet, the view is fantastic, the management is friendly, and welcome motorcycles. The Shoreline restaurant next door has excellent food at reasonable prices, it's a great place to have dinner. There are several good places to have breakfast within walking distance. Minor issues: Some of the plumbing is a little loud, and you can hear the jacuzzi running in adjacent rooms. Does not bother me, but if it did I would use earplugs. If wi-fi is important to you, make sure you stay at street level or above. The lower levels have spotty coverage. The rooms have radiant floor heating. If it is cold, be sure to turn up the thermostat as soon as you arrive. It takes a few hours for the floors to come up to temperature, but once they do, it's a wonderful experience. If your feet are warm, everything else is warm :-). Standing on the warm floor, looking out over the back deck with the cool ocean air in your face is alone worth the price of admission! read more

Rolled into town without a reservation and got lucky when we stopped at the Breakers Inn and they had one room left. We walked down into the D block to find a good sized room with a great view of the ocean, warm radiant heat floors, fire place, deck and a nice big spa tub. The king bed was dated but comfortable. The decor was also dated but pleasant enough. Its real quiet down there, all one hears is the ocean, real nice. If and when they update these rooms they will be a real gem. Be sure to catch the sunset from the deck. What we didn't like was, there is a trail right outside the deck and people walking buy can pretty much see right into the room if the blinds are up. Suggested they install top-down blinds. This would provide privacy from the trail but keep the ocean in view. Also the desk clerk recommend their second restaurant (Cove Azul) as the main one (Sandbar) was closed that day. Problem is Cove Azul was mostly a local bar with a grill and had pretty horrible food. They really should not be recommending that dump, makes them look bad. The Sandbar looked pretty nice so we assumed the Cove would be similar quality, boy was that a mistake. read more

This was probably the worst hotel experience ever. Very run down. Unprofessional, unorganized staff. This place needs a major facelift. I have allergies to mold and I understand it's on the coast where it's damp majority of the time but it got to the point I could not breathe. We had to check out early on our 2nd night, I felt bad about it but my health was at risk.. we went and stayed at Seacliff for the reminder of our week in Gualala. It was wonderful. Breakers Inn Owner-- Please close your facility and take care of your issues. We were here and met you and the lovely innkeeper in July, When you took back over, the innkeeper was gone and your current staff is absolutely atrocious. I think that, if you are passing through Gualala and need a place to crash for the night and move on in the morning, this is OK. Bed was fine and the shower was good. The front desk person when we checked in was great. If you stay around for a day you begin to notice just how much maintenance has been deferred and how little care has gone into day to day management. The deck outside our room was dirty. Stairs, halls, common areas have not been swept in a while and all of the furniture - especially around the common areas - looks old and worn. The "breakfast" is simply a joke - why bother advertising this? The coffee was undrinkable so I tried tea - the water for the tea tasted terrible - tossed it out. Bagels seemed like the typical frozen variety and there were dispensers of the usual cereals. Better to walk down the street to Trinks if you want breakfast. Wouldn't go back - I am sure there are other places in town that would do better. read more

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Breakers this weekend (Mid September) in Gualala. The hotel is right on the water and every room has a patio overlooking the ocean. From our patio we could see harbor seals, birds and in the far distance whales, and at night we enjoyed watching the sunset stargazing. This is a great vacation for a getaway to disconnect. Cell reception is spotty in the area (but the hotel free Wi-Fi worked really well. There is a small TV in the room, but it wasn't very high tech and we found it mostly got news and sports channels, but that was fine as we were not really there to watch TV. Even though the property is on the main road, when in our room and on the patio we felt very secluded and relaxed. There were some minor cosmetic issues in the room as mentioned in other reviews (but some of the reviews may be outdated, as our room no longer had carpet) but truly nothing to write home about. It is clear they are updating the rooms, (our room had an updated linens and paint than what other photos here show) and we could see they were doing structural work on the neighboring patios. Felt it was a great value for the price, everyone working there were so pleasant and kind and we had such an enjoyable time, I can't find anything real to complain about and look forward to going back. read more

Just wanted to update- went back again and stayed in the Japan room, which has a beach facing hot tub. Incredibly luxurious. We spent the night looking at the stars and the following day enjoying kayaking on the river and painting the view from the balcony (with a million soaks in the hot tub in between). I agree with prior reviews. We hadn't stayed here before, but it looks like it's seen better days. I planned our vacation as our 'babymoon' and my husband's 40th bday weekend. When I called for reservations, we got what she called "the best room" (the Denmark). The little things weren't so bad- like the broken curtain pulls and the missing shower door handles. We were a bit irked by the unreliable WiFi. (Google even warned that it couldn't run well at that poor connection speed.) The worst, though was that in this "best room" we were woken by the surprisingly loud pipes whenever neighbors filled their jacuzzi bathtub. I guess we wouldn't have been so upset, if the manager hadn't said, basically, sorry, but that's how the room is. I spoke with the manager "Rachel" and of course nothing could be done. She even came to our room and verified how loud the running water was. She offered us lesser rooms, but not a lesser price and never did more than say there wasn't much she could do. I DEFINITELY would not stay here again. I was so disappointed especially since this was suppose to be a special occasion and there are nicer places near by. Stopped in for one night with no reservation about a week ago. One of many stops on two week road trip beginning in the Southern Sierra. My traveling companion and I wanted to split the bill by either paying cash or use two credit cards or whatever worked for them. The young lady at the front desk couldn't have been nicer but because she was brand new at her job she wasn't sure exactly what to do. We gave her one card and she said that it wouldn't be charged until morning so we could settle up with the morning person...all well and good. We had the Connecticut Room it was cozy and comfortable enough the view was beautiful...all was well...until that is when the phone rang at 8:30 in the morning with a very irritated sounding woman on the other end who identified herself as the manager. She said we had to come to the office immediately to settle the bill. She said that the young lady who checked us in was new and shouldn't have made the arrangement for payment as she did. I explained that my friend was still asleep and that we would be down as soon as she woke up. Literally five minutes latter the phone rings again with the manager telling my traveling companion that she had charged her card. Ok...not the end of the world but a really irritating way to be woken up when you're on vacation. Quite honestly I can't for the life of me figure out why she couldn't have waited until checkout time which we didn't even stay for because the vibe was so uncool! I'd pass this one up and head next door...on either side! read more

My family has been coming here for past 7 years, I've come twice and paid for my parents for a vacation 5 times. My parents enjoy it, and I enjoyed my last stay, but I really feel the need to discuss the horrible customer service I received on my stay this past weekend. Last time I stayed here I had to leave early due to my GF having a 104 temp, so we left 3 days early, they said they'd send me a voucher, well I moved and never received it(not their fault). I called a month ago and asked if by any chance my credit was still available and the girl said yes and the 2 night stay I was booking was free. I was happy and didnt expect them to have something on file from 6 years ago. When I got there to check in, that wasn't the deal. The lady told me $188/night, and I explained my previous story and the manager came in completely rude, and said there was no way I was told this. I WASN'T MAKING IT UP. Her rudeness was beyond anything I've encountered. "So you came here expecting to get a free stay we us? This weekend?" With extreme attitude to me, and even somewhat aggressive. You could see how angry she was with me. I said, no, I was told I would, weeks ago when I made reservations. She was totally offended by all this and said there was no way I was credited for my past times, that they would have credited my card (6 years ago it didnt work this way as there wasn't refunds, just credits/vouchers) but the lady on phone pulled my info up and said it was in the system. The manager didnt believe me and said there was no way that would have been offered. She said she would make me a deal and only charge me $88/night , and she made sure to claim how much of a steal that was for me. After 15 minutes of this I just said fine, and took that price. It was never about money. We will not be coming back and I will be spending my money for my parents yearly vacation in Gualala, somewhere else. I was in customer service for 6 years, and I am appalled by the way I was treated. She offered me another free voucher, but she never gave it to me, ad I surely wouldn't ever expect it to be in their system, or for them to keep their promise ever again. 2 stars since past experiences have been good, but this one will never have us come back. Horrible, rooms are dirty, disgusting dirty. In our group the tv didn't work in room, the hairdryer was broken, couldn't get toilet paper, the staff was not helpful or responsive and the place is falling apart. Our family has been going here for over 20 Years & we have never had such a bad experience. The new owners are not taking care of this place. So sad, so many memories but guess those are in the past. **HIGHLY RECOMMEND** My husband and I chose to get away from the Bay Area to celebrate our anniversary. We wanted a place along the coast that was nice and relaxing. I called to make reservations at Breaker's Inn and they were beyond accommodating to our budget and needs. When we checked in, we noticed how helpful Ashley and her staff were to the elderly group checking in before us. This group had been here before, as they come every year from Art in the Redwoods, and seemed so pleased to be greeted with smiles once again. My husband and I stayed in the Japan room; I definitely recommend this if you're looking for a beautiful view of the ocean and river from the porch and in room jacuzzi. Gualala is a quiet, adorable little town that met all of our needs. We can't say thank you enough to the staff at Breaker's Inn. read more

We just finished a 8 state 4 week motorcycle trip. We have loved this place and looked forward to finishing our vacation here. However, this time it was the most expensive & worst place we stayed the whole trip. Missing window screens, missing knobs on worn out furniture, dirty, dirty porches i.e. butts & old bird dung.stayed 2 nights & 2nd day porch still not cleaned. Sinks "filmy" Complained to Mgr but they don't listen with their ears...They need to get off their duffs and check out the rooms and make repairs. Other places to stay in town next time with same views, fireplaces, spas, and patios and better values. Very disappointed in a past favorite. read more

My husband and I only live 60 miles away in Bodega but we come to the Breakers Inn for our 30 hr. getaway about 4 times a year. Soaking in hot water while watching the ocean, river, birds, and the setting sun is the ultimate relaxation for me. We can rent DVD's in walking distance and have a movie night. This time we went to the Surf grocery store, next store, and decided to eat in our room. It was so relaxing. read more

When my honey and I were looking for a room on the coast, we decided we wanted the following: an ocean view, fireplace, bathtub, and king sized bed. Such places in Mendocino were well over $200, and in Fort Bragg just under. Seriously, for $135., this place is a jewel. The radiant heat is a major plus, since there is nothing to dilute the sound of the waves coming in through the window; the decor is charming, the hosts friendly and helpful, and the views amazing (at least from the Connecticut room.) This isn't a fancy or high-end place, but it's exactly what we were looking for! read more

We used to LOVE Breakers Inn. In fact, my wife and I have gone EVERY year for the past 12-15 years. We always stayed in the Japan room or the Denmark room for 3 nights at a time. We would sit in the tub, relax, get a massage, and watch old movies. It was a tradition that, sadly, will be no more. They hired a new manager....a lawyer yet! I had heard that this new manager would not allow in-room massages anymore...supposedly due to liability reasons (what do you expect from a lawyer...and how much liability could there be from a massage?) We immediately called. The manager was VERY rude, yelled at both me and my wife, and told us they did not want us as customers. A few minutes later we got an unsolicited email informing us that our reservation had been canceled! Wow! He also apparently has chased away some massage therapist and drove her to tears. Now keep in mind, this is a romantic place and they should encourage in-room massages. Liability is the reason they have insurance. At $300/night, I would think they could afford this. Why eliminate one of the major attractions of the place? If you are worried about liability, just close the place down...that will solve all your problems! I have never heard of this very stupid policy being applied elsewhere, and believe me, we go to many romantic places like this. So instead, we are now going to go a few miles north to Whale Watch Inn where they welcome in-room massages. To the owners: What made you think a lawyer would make a good manager? There have been other complaints about him also; so it is not just us. If he had been nice about the whole thing, sympathized, and said that's just the way it is, then we would have been disappointed, but still would have gone...and then gone to the local spa for our massages. Update 3/26: OK, since the manager replied, I would like to straighten out a couple of things he said. When I called from my work, I was transferred to the manager as soon as I mentioned in-room massages. There was absolutely no name calling, although I do admit that when I later called back to obtain contact info of the owner, I did used a somewhat derogatory (but appropriate) term. Unfortunately, I did not realize I was talking to his wife. Oops! They refused to provide any information, but I found it myself anyway. The fact is, my first contact with him was confrontational from the very beginning. My wife later called from home and did not know anything about our conversation. She is not the type for name-calling either, but hung up with the same impression I got. The look-the-other-way comment was a curiosity question about how a hotel could be held legally responsible for something they had no way of knowing. At no point did I say I was going to do that...and I never got an answer. I can't make any comment about the therapist in tears since this was, in legal terms, hearsay. I have no doubts the Spa mentioned is great, but this is not the point. There are only three points to this whole mess. 1. Why is the manager of romantic inn so rude and confrontational, especially to long-time customers? 2. Why would a romantic inn bar in-room massages? These rooms have a nice two-person tub. It was wonderful to have a nice massage and then get in the tub without having to get dressed and go out in the cold and/or rain. This was to be the highlight of our vacation. 3. Why is this the only place that has this policy? Could it be because the manager is a lawyer? The WW Inn does not have this policy, and neither does ANY other place I called. We ended up making reservations at another romantic place a bit closer to our home in Santa Rosa. There we will have a couples massage and then soak in the tub immediately afterwards....all with management's blessing. We are still, however, devastated that we lost our long-time tradition. read more

Beautiful location for a hotel. Every room is an excellent way to get close to the water and sky. Porches have veiws of everything you'd want to see of the ocean. In its not going to murder your wallet. Fire place is nice on foggy days and bathtub is better then yours at home! read more

The view from the balcony is almost worth the trip alone! We stayed in the Connecticut room and the decor was pretty kitschy, but hey, who cares about the decor when you have that staggering view of the ocean on your balcony? Be sure to really make the most out of it and watch the entire sunrise and sunset with your loved one; it's truly memorable. And the 2-person jacuzzi was the perfect treat after a 6-mile run along the bluff trail in Sea Ranch which is just a few moments away. Can't wait to come back here again! read more

Stayed in the Oregon room for our 1st anniversary in August. Had a fantastic time! Gualala is a true get away. My cell phone did not have a glimmer of service the entire time- which was great! Fireplace in the room, hot tub, balcony, ocean view. Quiet. Brought snacks and champagne back to our room and just relaxed and enjoyed the balcony. Visited the lighthouse and a couple restaurants in the area (which close early so beware!). Wonderful weekend, wonderful place to get away. Very personalized and classy service. Definitely going back. read more

Romantic with a beautiful view from every room. We've visited twice, the first time we got a regular ocean view room, the next time we got the next step up and it didn't seem all that much better. So I say go with a regular room or splurge on one of the theme rooms. We used to go to Gualala to relax and read and basically do nothing but enjoy the scenery and eat good food. Now we tend to take vacations that are a little more hectic and you feel like you need to sleep for days afterwards. Gualala, and Breakers Inn, are for peace and quiet. read more

The buildings and grounds were in horrible condition. The parking lot was filled with containers, the yards stairways and condition of the exterior of the buildings including the decks and rails were dirty and unsafe. The furniture on the decks should have been thrown away years ago. The junk under the decks is a fire hazard. The windows were so dirty you could barely see the ocean including bird droppings. The bedding had burn wholes and the pillows and sheets were unacceptable. As for security there was none. A couple were near fornicating on the deck next to us without clothing against a very unsafe wood rail two stories up. Workmen were walking around with their pants half off there bodies. The overall experience was very poor. The young lady at the deck was helpful and polite. read more
