We stayed two nights in the Aquitaine room. The artwork and decorations were eclectic. The kitchenette with a decent sized mini fridge and freezer. With the available cooking utensils, we were able to make dinner one evening. A small grocery store is a few minutes south. We didn't use the fireplace but there are recliner chairs in front of it that were very inviting if you want a relaxing night in. It is easy to reach Diane and Damien via text. The day before we placed our breakfast order and it was delivered to our door in the morning. The ginger scone was my favorite but the biscuits were also huge and fluffy. Loved the matcha latte. The flowers and plants on the property were gorgeous. If you walk to the top of the property, there is a gazebo and sitting area. Perfect for a place to read. You can see the ocean and hear the Sea Lions. One night we signed up for an hour long session in the hot tub. It was very private, clean, and super relaxing. If you go after dark, the stars are incredible. The pathways were well lit for your walk back. Before visiting, I was a little unsure of what the electric vehicle charging would look like. There are two sections of parking, depending on which room you are staying in. They are well marked based on which room you stay in and don't require a long walk. I recommend to have directions saved and to look up ideas on where you want to go before you leave. There will be little to no signal once you leave the property. Had a fantastic dinner at Izakaya Gama (be sure to make reservations ahead of time) and went to The Record afterwards for a drink. There was a live band and so much positive energy. Damien and Diane were so friendly and welcoming. We can't wait to go back, try a different room, do a wine tasting with Diane and explore more of this gorgeous area. The room was clean and quaint. It came with a king bed and a day bed. The fireplace adds a rustic feel to the place. Breakfast - There is complimentary breakfast in the morning, make sure you put your orders in through text the night before. You must try the buttermilk biscuits. They arrived piping hot, crispy outside with soft delicate inside. Paired with jam or gravy, every bite is heavenly. They were so sweet and brought us cookies for our birthday. Wine tasting - we had wine tasting with Diane in the lounge room. she is very knowledgeable and a great conversationalist. A charcuterie board, nuts and dessert were waiting for us when we arrived. The ambience, the energy, the property, the hot tub, the stars, the moon, the sky, the trees, Miss cookie and Sir Nico really make this property feel like a dream!! The rooms are a vibe and so so clean!!! We loved the fireplace!! My whole family slept together in the huge comfy bed! Peacefully! We're so grateful we were able to stay here! My favorite part, It is a 420 friendly property! Lots of places to have a toke! Without having to worry about smoking in the parking lot like a shady drifter... The sheer beauty that Damien and Diane have created at Rendezvous is unimaginable unless one experiences it. The rooms are clean, each with its own eclectic identity, and the grounds are so well manicured that an arborist would be in awe. The good: our room at this B&B was well appointed and very clean. Not so good: we had a view of the rooftop of the other rooms, a local road where a truck often drives within 50 feet of the open window and we did hear the sea lions once but far more often the cars on the highway. After a year of pandemic lockdown, our family was looking for a special getaway, something serene and still full of life and wonder. Surrounded by trees and overlooking Highway 1 and the coast, Rendezvous Mendocino was the answer. Unparalleled warmth and genuine hospitality from our hosts Damien and Diane made our stay even more special. They were always right there (well, at least 6 feet away) to make sure we had what we needed, answer questions about the area, or just share stories about their adventure making this property unique. Their passion and creativity show up around each corner. There are steps behind the rooms that lead you up to a cute area with a small gazebo, perfect for enjoying coffee or a glass of wine and just taking in everything around you. Our room ("Evergreen") was not only spotless, it had all sorts of little touches like antique bird drawings, a fireplace and giant windows with a view of the ocean. This made it magical place to spend wrapping up a long day of hiking adventures, and also waking up and watching nature come alive around you. Speaking of good mornings, Diane's biscuits and gravy are phenomenal, and we debated just eating these three meals a day. Overall, we had such an ideal experience, we began planning for our return visit on the ride home. This place deserves a lot of kudos. If you drive an EV, Rooms #5 & #6 parking spots have the chargers. The directions to the place is spot-on. The room - #5 is spacious! The bedding with it's multiple layers is heavenly. Pillows- unlike at the Airbnb I stayed at in Fort Bragg - is substantial. The towels are plush. The soaps are quality. (I bring my own hair care.) The bed is big enough to share with my sister. The toilet paper definitely not those cheap products. So nice to enjoy the hot tub & see all the trees. There is a lounge with kitchen facilities. The breakfast - so, so wonderful! Coffee & tea choices available. And the internet which is so spotty between Point Arena & Gualala that it drains my iPhone battery so fast - strong, great bandwidth. My husband and I originally met Diane while wine tasting in Boonville last June. We had so much fun with her and were so impressed with her knowledge of wine that when we got home, we made plans to stay at Rendezvous Mendocino in the fall. The entire experience was fantastic! Diane and Damien are wonderful hosts! The property is beautiful with an intimate hot tub, fire pit and gardens. Our room, "Aquitaine" was lovely. Super cozy with a comfortable bed, day bed and recliners in front of the fireplace. Cutest little kitchenette ever! And lots of fun décor. There's even a porch with Adirondack chairs where we sat in the sun. Breakfast was amazing, biscuits with jam and honey, lemon blueberry scones and even vegan options - almond cherry scones and vegan biscuits! Home made and hot out of the oven. Perfect vanilla lattes and mochas too. Oh, and the cookies! Beautiful caramel chocolate chip and vegan chocolate smores cookies. Diane is a sommelier (among so many other amazing skills!) so we booked a private tasting. It was so lovely! The tasting was in the lounge so no driving was needed! The tasting included a beautiful spread of classic charcutier fare and wonderful vegan options! It was such a treat! As a vegan, I don't often have many choices but Diane really took care of me! The wines were great, from two very small producers. While we drink a lot of wine, we aren't experts. Diane made the experience very comfortable, she's so knowledgeable without any pretense. It was a great opportunity to learn more. Diane gave us lots of dining and wine tasting recommendations -- all were excellent. We'll be back and next time plan to coordinate a salon appointment with Damien! read more

The biscuits are the best we've EVER had and the attention to detail here does not go unnoticed. Room is immaculate and charming (Aquitaine) and the bed is luxurious, beautiful linens and the best mattress (I am a princess bed snob and it passes muster with flying colors!) What a magical place be right amongst the Redwoods and within earshot of the sea lions. Dianne and Damien were amazing hosts and the calzones for dinner and biscuits and gravy with delicious coffee for breakfast were so amazingly good I had them every morning I stayed! They are within a short drive to restaurants and cute shops as well as forest, ocean and rivers all within minutes of you. You probably won't want to leave your room though because it is so beautifully decorated and there's a spa bathtub and they give you a bottle of wine! We were there only three weeks ago, but we liked it so much, we went back again. I also recommended it to a friend and her husband, and they loved it also. Here is why: First of all, it is very reasonably priced. Second, the rooms we stayed in are beautiful. Super clean, also. Room number one, "see urchin room", has a little kitchen and a beautiful wrap-around veranda. A lovely fireplace and fun furniture and artwork. Queen size bed. A nice shower. It is overlooking the California number 1 Highway, but the traffic didn't bother us at all, because there isn't a lot of traffic. Room number five, "Southwind" is closer up to the garden. It has two gigantic windows with a wonderful view of the ocean and the trees. We don't even see the highway from there. It had a super comfortable king bed, a fireplace with gas. No kitchen, by a coffee maker. Every morning, the host brought freshly made breakfast. It was delicious! Perfect for the 1st cup of coffee. All the way up the steps, closer to room number five, they have a beautiful garden. Sitting out there having coffee, sitting out there kicking back, sitting outside watching the sunset... The owners and hosts, Damian and Diane, are a young couple with great visions and skills. They work very hard, only took this place over beginning of 2021. Even 2 1/2 weeks after my first day, I could already see improvements. Not that I thought it was lacking much... But Diane definitely has a knack for decorating. Each room is different and very nice. Depending on your needs... They also are extremely friendly, kind and always trying to make your stay perfect. So, as you can see, we are completely taken by this setting, hosts and location. It is a 6 minute drive to Gualala, an 10 minute drive to the Gualala point park for hiking, a 13 minute drive to Sea Ranch. Until COVID-19 will not be an issue with traveling any longer, I think we will get back there again soon. And even when international travelers available again, we will Be there least once a year. Maybe more. It's only 2 1/2 hour drive from San Francisco where we live. read more

What an amazing getaway! I picked this place based on photos of their scones and biscuits and the whole place just kept surpassing my expectations! Let's start with the bed...we always enter any place we will be sleeping and test the bed...and oh my goodness, that was this the MOST comfy bed I've ever been in! We love our bed at home, but this bed had me feeling like we need to step our own bed game up. The blankets were layered in a way that felt like a hug..the padding was smooshy but firm in a way I have yet to experience, even at the most expensive hotels. Think of a cloud and think of it being sustainable to sleep on - that's this bed!! The view - not just ocean view alone but, redwood trees AND ocean! It's like being in a treehouse near the beach. Ravens kept circling above and it was just beautiful! You can hear sealions barking in the distance!! We stayed in the Southwind room..it was super clean, nicely decorated... my only concern was the entry code to the room...I'm a paranoid freak and kept thinking folks who had been there prior might come back and open the door on us & murder us in our sleep - my husband reminded me it's not a super straight-forward place to get to, but, I have anxiety & watch True Crime shows on loop so, my imagination got the best of me! We left alive so, all was well. OK can we get back to the food?.. First night there we had their calzone and I was super impressed. Cheesy, good crust and sauce.. super good! Morning came - first morning we ordered the biscuits and goddamn, they know what's up with a biscuit! Super fluffy and crunchy at the same time. 2nd morning I had the scone of my dreams - Pecan-ginger with a maple glaze. Ordinarily, scones are too dry for my taste, but this scone was moist and delectable! Coffee selections were great, I really enjoyed the cappuccino with soy milk.. perfect amount of froth! I'm more of an iced coffee chick, so luckily we had a flexible ice tray in the freezer and I was able to make my iced coffees with Splenda right there! When we come back, I think I'd bring fridge-friendly foods like salads and fruit and never leave the room! There's not a lot to do near this town besides maybe hike [which I don't do]. We left the room to go to Mendocino Botanical Gardens and all I could think about was getting back to our comfy treehouse in the sky above the ocean and cozying up in that heavenly bed all day. Really, it's a place you don't ever have to leave and it's the perfect destination for unplugging and tuning the world out. No TV in the room, so bring an iPad or laptop if you want to watch a show in bed. It was cool to not have a TV because we likely would have had it on with back to back episodes of Naked & Afraid like we have at home and that's no way to get the heck away! Seriously, Diane & Damien, you guys have created SUCH a special place for us up the coast and I want to keep it a secret, but at the same time I want to shout it from every rooftop that we have found our slice of Xanadu on the coast & it's such a special place that makes you feel surrounded by love and nature. read more

From the flowers, to the stairs that lead to a beautiful gazebo on a hill with a view of the stars, to the rooms that are each unique and incredibly cozy, this inn will make you feel like it's ok to slow down and take a breath. Stayed here for my wife's birthday weekend. We found that it is a magical place. The grounds are beautifully kept. We stayed in the Evergreen Room. It has the most comfortable king sized bed I've ever slept in on a vacation. The unique decor made the place even more amazing. We kept the curtains and the windows open the whole time so we can enjoy the view of the trees and the water and the sound of the sea lions. For breakfast, we enjoyed Diane's biscuits, mine with gravy, and my wife's with jam and honey. I have never had biscuits better than these! A couple of good friends who have never led me astray recommended Rendezvous Mendocino. They have 6 rooms and each one feels like an individual cabin. The decor is rustic and carefully appointed; very clean and has everything you'll need in terms of dishes and linens. The bed is good quality and very comfortable - I slept really well. Each room has a fireplace and they give you a duraflame log to burn the first night. They sell them if you need more but I brought a bunch of them with me. The breakfast that they bring to your room in the morning is bakery quality. One of the owners (or both) is a baker extraordinaire!! I think Dianne makes the morning baked goods and Damien makes an impressive calzone, so I hear! If you need some serious 'down time' to relax, you will be totally happy even if you hardly leave the room. There's plenty to explore along the coast, but if you're like me I just needed a little solo retreat for myself!! If you want a place to truly get away to for a simple existence and forget about work ~ you can't go wrong here! How can you hold onto stress looking up at the high beamed pine ceilings!?? Must be able to climb stairs because the cabins are in a tiered arrangement. Up above most of the cabins is a guest lounge with games and books. There is a guest hot tub that you can enjoy - sign up is in the lounge and they offer towels. I highly recommend this very sweet place; and the owners, a married couple are lovely, warm and welcoming! read more

I called today to make a reservation with a prepaid gift certificate that had no expiration date only to find out since the gift certificate was originally purchased the property has new owners and gift certificates purchased prior to the owner change will not be honored? I was told the new owners purchased the property 2.5 years ago which was when Covid was in full swing. We had the absolute best time staying here! My fiancé took me here to surprise me for my birthday. The hosts greeted us as we walked in and even told me happy birthday upon our arrival! Inside the room, there were two huge delicious chocolate chip, caramel, and sea salt cookies with a note that read "Happy Birthday!" It was very thoughtful. The room was cozy and every little detail was thought of. The breakfast the next morning could not have been easier to order and it was DELICIOUS. Overall, just a wonderful experience! Our very spacious room had a high ceiling with beautiful knotty pine paneling; gorgeous with the natural daytime light and at night as well. We were also blessed with having a view of the ocean in the front as well as a lovely grove of pine trees and a lovely little upper meadow, just steps away from our front door, out back. The smell of the fresh mountain and seaside air was so wonderful. Breakfast was homemade and delicious and hand delivered! The room itself was tastefully decorated with vintage antiques that really brought in the feeling of the surrounding Mendocino county area. The hosts were both very gracious and very attentive to any requests and needs that we had. The bed was very comfortable and the oversized bath towels were a luscious and comforting treat as well.
