This is a super cute, antique, historical hotel. I wanted to love it. Here's the problem I had. The light shined HORRIBLY through the bedroom door all night. We had to rig towels and the robe hoping that would help light not come through. Nope it still did. Just be aware you won't get a good night sleep. Also, the bed is hard. Not super hard, but they need to be replaced as well as the carpets in the room. Time for hardwood floors especially for someone who has allergies. The restaurant is decent. The coffee sux. Tasted like burnt coffee. Worst then Starbucks.

This is what we got when we paid for a premium Mountain View room.

A bit rustic but certainly comfortable. Easy check in since we had prepaid everything online. Getting to the room is a little convoluted... depending upon which part of the hotel you are staying in. We had to take an elevator up to the second floor, get off, walk across a skyway to another part of the hotel, then take another elevator up to the fourth floor. The room we had was pretty spacious, fairly comfortable beds with so many pillows. The bathroom is also pretty good in size and big enough for two people at once to be in there. We didn't try any of the restaurants in the hotel but there seemed to be many options. The only real disappointment was the view. We had paid extra for a view of the mountains and I have posted a picture of what I guess they consider a "mountain view". I find it so unfortunate these days, hotels don't provide water, you have to ask them to clean your room or to get a change of towels. I understood why they did it during COVID, but that time has long since been over and it isn't as if you decreased your prices with the services. But when you charge more for a premium view and then don't actually provide it... well, let's just say there are other places to stay when in Boulder.

    Holiday setting from the mezzanine

We chose to have our Thanksgiving dinner at the Boulderado this year, on their hotel mezzanine where they have a beautiful buffet holiday meal. The restaurant off the lobby has a different, served set, of meals. It appears to me that given the size of the buffet spread, this must be done in their catering and conference kitchen, not the restaurant's. It turned out to be wonderful, in such an historic and well decorated venue. We did a different historic venue last year and though the other place had the advantage of being walkable from our home and served set meals, the main turkey meat option was a bit of a letdown. We mad a reservation weeks ago and this was such a poplar choice there were few time options than I had hoped. And though bit early for us traditionally, it worked out well. We have been to a winter wedding on this level of the hotel and to a university celebration also, but both were decades ago. It turned out that today was a perfect choice too. The 2 story lobby was decorated holiday season. The food was plentiful and though a buffet, was professionally served in various alcoves adjacent to the mezzanine. A pianist played through the meal. There were plenty of servers available too, to take and deliver drink orders, to clear tables 0f used plates and to be generally helpful. There were so many options so I am posting the printed menus. My husband and I selected whatever each of us preferred, Servings were substantial, refills or additional choices were always available. Our drink order was taken and served first, My husband had the prosecco, I had the pomegranate Alperol Spritz. It was beautiful to look at and to taste. The turkey was perfect, any choice of meat happily served by professionals. We self served the gravy and cranberry options. We both enjoyed the shrimp but there were several other seafood appetizers on a cocktail bar decorated with Ice sculpture. Neither us chose a salad though there were several options, but the other appetizers grabbed our senses first. There were dinner rolls and cornbread available. The dessert room was fun and though we were fairly full by then we each tried the pies as well as an ice cream sunday bar. But there were also cupcakes and waffles to decorate and personalize. Coffee and tea were available in this room. All in all, we so enjoyed and preferred this to last year's choice, now that our family and friends are no longer local, we have already decided to come here again next year.

PROS Nice, clean room, reasonable price (my stay $170+ tax AARP). Beautiful overall hotel. Spruce onsite restaurant was excellent. We only had breakfast and glass of wine in the evening. Servers Christie and Rose were both attentive and charming. Corner Bar onsite tavern had excellent service. Outdoor seating. Fun late-night bar (License No. 1) in the basement. Best location, just a block from Peal pedestrian walking street. Everyone throughout the hotel were very friendly. CONS We stayed in the new wing, and it is a maze to walk to/from the lobby. Expensive parking at $30/night (valet only), but I used a public parking garage a block away where SAT+SUN free. Cheap and very convenient. Only staff can handle baggage carts. Will return for sure!

I loved our stay here. This hotel has such a cool feeling to it. It seems like it has such history. It's gorgeous too. Apparently Stephen King had loved to stay here in the past, which as a fan that was cool to discover. The place has a presence and it tracks this would be a place he would be drawn to. The staff was extremely welcoming. The room very comfortable. I'd love to go back.

Nice, quaint hotel. Parking - only have valet parking where they park your car in a lot within walking distance from the hotel. You can park in a slot near the front of the hotel for a few minutes to check in. Check In - Staff were very friendly and efficient. It's easier to check in if you have online reservations. One of the staff members even showed me the old "safe." Ambiance - The hotel has a nice stained glass ceiling. It is cozy with sofas and armchairs. The carpet though is showing its age. Otherwise, the area was clean and inviting. Rooms - the room we stayed in was clean and comfortable. The sheets were soft. The restroom was functional. Check out - The process was seamless, took only a few minutes then the valet had our vehicle ready near the entrance. Highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in Boulder. It's also within walking distance from Pearl Street and all the restaurants and stores.

First time having a staycation in Boulder and it definitely won't be my last time after staying in Hotel Boulderado! I'm floored by how beautiful the hotel is, and the staff is super accommodating and kind! I felt like I was in Twilight Zone riding in one of those mega old elevators but it was a neat experience. The atmosphere and interior design is just so lovely and cozy, I definitely plan on staying more days the next time we visit. The room itself was so spacious and just as pretty as the lobby. Their bed is one of the comfiest. Definitely one of the best hotels I've visited. Wish I remembered to take pictures of our room. The aesthetic is top notch here.

    Love the Victorian touches.

Fantastic stay of 5 nights. We were in historic side and the folks at both front desk and valet stand were so responsive and responsible!

The historic charm of the Hotel Boulderado is undeniable. We enjoyed our stay in the historic wing with touches like an attendant operated elevator. The Spruce was a great place for an evening snack and cocktails and for breakfast in the morning. The staff, from valet to front desk, were welcoming, warm, and efficient. On our way to our room we noticed a sign in the hallway, "Renovations in Progress". How bad could that be? After all there was no mention of it when we booked our reservation nor when we checked in. Well, we found out when the power tools started and workers were discussing the day's logistics outside our door at 7:00 AM. So annoying to be woken in that manor. And it is disappointing that a hotel of this caliber would just shrug this off when brought up at check out. A great hotel. Just be sure to inquire about the noise level at your room.

Does not give an upscale vibe - not crazy over design, but that is more of a personal preference. Everything about it is just ok. The ballroom design does not work and the food was inedible. Getting a drink at the Lobby bar is a feat of patience. All the seating including rooms is not comfortable - again bad design choices. Lo and behold, Tab Benoit (a terrific blues singer and guitarist) was performing Saturday night! Although it appeared sold out, we lucked into 6th row, just off center (on the aisle). At just under $70/ticket it was reasonable. Tab and his bandmates (drummer and bassist) put on a nonstop 90 minute show that really highlighted Tab's extraordinary guitar playing. He also crooned a few ballads in his signature raspy voice (though not enough in our opinion)! In terms of living/performing blues artists, Tab is among the elite. Checkout the 3 video snippets for a glimpse at his versatility. The quaint venue is amazing. At over 125 years old, t's officially listed as historic. And, despite being 50+ feet high, it is made almost entirely of red wood. That yields really warm acoustics that never harshly echo. A quick glance at the calendar and it appears there's something going on 5-6 days/week. Lots of free parking, though you might have to walk a bit, and likely uphill. They sell snacks and drinks at the venue (no bringing in your own). All purses do get checked. The concession prices are high ($6-8 for a single can of beer or a vodka-seltzer) but consistent/average for concert venues. Seats are reasonably comfortable (old movie-house-style, fold up/down, lightly padded) with a nifty cupholder on the back of the seat in front of you. Restrooms are off premises - yep, you gotta exit the auditorium and walk about 75 feet to a small structure that houses the men's/women's bathrooms. Your wrist band that you should have received upon entry, gets you back into the auditorium (don't exit without it)! Oh and maybe don't forget your ear protection - I brought some decent small ones from home and was glad I did, seeing how close we were. Upon exiting the venue it is a little dark along the various walkways to your car and your phone can light the path. Things are congested for about 15-20 minutes but it all moves slowly/surely because it's not massive like an arena or stadium. I can see why so many big names come here!

I played in wind ensembles and symphony orchestras as a youngster, but definitely fall in the category of amateur, at best. I do love a good night out at the performing arts, though. The orchestra this summer, led by Maestro Peter Oundjian, is exceptional. I can't remember a symphonic performance that was more intricately perfect in ensemble and intonation than the three I have heard this summer. That each individual performer could be put into a large group and perform as one in such an exceptional way is truly awe-inspiring. I'm going to hear the Dvorak tonight, and simply can't wait! For those who don't know, the Colorado Symphony is now fortuitous in being led by Maestro Oundjian, and under his leadership, I can only imagine that the sky is the limit! That said, there is something very special about driving into the Boulder country/mountains to this little auditorium in Chautauqua Park, with exceptional acoustics and an orchestra composed of some of the best musicians from around the country. What an absolute treat! While the Denver Center for the Performing Arts is a national treasure for us in Colorado, I promise you won't miss the traffic and parking fees of downtown Denver!
