    61. Kung Po Chicken

My girlfriend got twice as much chicken in the bourbon chicken than me. Friend rice and egg roll were good. Pretty quick for Thursday night at 7pm.

Okay I SOOO wanted to like this spot as it's close to the house; but it was bad. We got two orders of the large shrimp fried rice and a side of spring rolls. The rice was horrible- only had large chunks of onion and only a few pieces of shrimp! Better half said they should call it 'Onion Fried Rice' Spring rolls were average.

Good value for lunch. Only $5.75 for lunch special with fried rice. Unfortunately the price does not make up for the lack of quality. The fried rice was bland and the Szechuan Chicken lacked flavor and had zero spice. Szechuan Chicken is supposed to be spicy. Lol. My husband had the beef and broccoli. It was good but it was served warm not hot. We love steam coming out from our food. Lol. We also shared a wonton soup. The broth was delicious but again warm not hot. This is my second time dining here and each time was disappointing. Three times the charm? I don't think so. Lol. Not worth the drive over the ditch. Sorry.

Pretty decent Chinese take-out. Note 4 stars only in comparison to other Chinese delivery options, since those standards seem low. Would be 3 against all Asian cuisine restaurants without delivery. I'll be honest, I haven't tried much Chinese in the Hodges Atlantic/beach area, because the reviews generally aren't great and pictures less than appealing. But I really NEEDED some Chinese, and I decided instead of doing carryout somewhere that looked better, I'd try delivery from what appeared most promising that would deliver to me... Hot Wok. Overall I was pretty happy and will definitely order from here again (but will occasionally try to find something I can call great). Firstly I appreciate that they have dinner combos at a decent price (main, pork fried rice & pork egg roll... you can change rice or egg roll type for small upcharge) because otherwise I have to pay a ton to get a main and something other than plain fried rice. Delivery service unfortunately took 1hr 20min, when they said 45min... on a Wednesday night at 7pm. It was the "bad winter weather" day, so maybe lots of people were ordering delivery? Guy taking my order was very helpful as I had lots of questions. Ok, on to the food. Kung pao chicken really good, great flavor, not at all spicy though, included green peppers, lots of celery & carrots, peanuts, couple mushrooms And baby corn (I ordered no onion)... I'm going to ask if they can add zucchini next time and maybe more peppers. Or try the szechuan cocker which they said had more green veg. Sesame chicken disappointing primarily due to how breaded and fried, too much heading and parts were really hard and chewy. Also only 3 broccoli florets, but flavor of sauce was good. Pork fried rice good in that not greasy like many places, rice itself low flavor but the pork was yummy and sweet (tiny cubes), plus lits of peas and carrots. Chicken fried rice was disappointing as was just chicken, no veg. Egg rolls pork & shrimp really disappointing, almost entirely bland cabbage...but fried well and the shrimp tasted really fresh which was a surprise. Homemade sour & souce sauce good. Enjoyed the egg drop soup, a bit of that gelatin thickness but not too much, no green onions if you're wondering. Crispy noodles come with soup are good, but I prefer the ones made of wonton wrappers. Overall I'll come back but will probably avoid the fried chicken dishes and get singe other appetizer besides egg roll.

The server was friendly and very knowledgeable. They knew what ingredients were in each menu items and took their time to explain. Food came out in a reasonable time and did not change as the place grew a crowd. Highlights. We fell in love with the beef noodle soup and their signature pan fried min baos. These were full of flavor and what well def be coming back for. We also got soup dumplings, pan fried beef dumpling, and steamed pot and shrimp dumpling. These were very juices but lacked some seasoning. Now you can taste the ingredients really well. With the dipping sauce and chili oil they go really well. But it didn't stand out as much as the 2 we mentioned. I got too into the food and did not take the rest of the photos lol

The fried bao bites were flavorful hot and juicy. Mongolian beef was very tender. The service was friendly. Could improve- the server didn't seem knowledgeable on the menu. The beef pancake was a cold dish. This wasn't on the menu and the server didn't inform us. The pan fried dumplings just didn't look like any of the photos on any other review or on their menu. And the taste was "off." Trendy little restaurant that reminded me of restaurants I've visited in Japan and Korea. Worth the visit.

The side dishes were very flavorful, and I also purchased two drinks that were absolutely delicious. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and provided good customer service throughout my visit. The only thing is that they told me that they do not clean tripe in Korea which was hard to believe. I do want to share a concern regarding the preparation of the tripe soup. After beginning the meal, I noticed that the tripe did not appear to have been cleaned. At first, I wondered if this was simply the restaurant's style of preparation, but after researching further, I learned that improperly cleaned tripe can be both unpleasant and potentially unsafe to consume because tripe comes from the stomach lining of the animal. Uncleaned tripe may still contain food residue, digestive material, parasites, worms, bacteria, and strong bile or waste odors. This can potentially lead to issues such as foul smell, unpleasant taste, food poisoning, bacterial contamination including E. coli or Salmonella, and symptoms such as stomach cramps, vomiting, or diarrhea. Proper cleaning is generally considered an essential part of preparing tripe, especially in professional restaurants where customers would quickly notice if the cleaning process was incomplete. Overall, I appreciated the kindness of the staff, the quality of the drinks, and the excellent side dishes. I am only sharing my personal experience and concern specifically regarding the preparation of the tripe soup.

Yesterday was my first visit, and I ordered the Reuben sliders, the regular Reuben, a turkey slider, and the beer cheese soup. Everything was absolutely delicious! I also tried the key lime cookie, and it was so good that I had to go back today for another one. Because my first experience was so great, I returned the very next day to try something different. This time, I had the sausage and chicken gumbo, along with (yes!) another key lime cookie. The gumbo was flavorful and comforting--definitely a great choice. What truly stood out the most, though, was the service. On my first visit, my waitress--who was also managing--along with another server, were incredibly polite and courteous. Although I can't remember their names, they were both exceptional. Today, I had the best cashier/server who even brought me a sample of the gumbo before I ordered. I also met the kitchen manager, who was friendly and confident about the dish, and the general manager came out to introduce himself and was very welcoming. This place is a 10 out of 10! I will absolutely be coming back on my next visit to Jacksonville. I love this place! Kesha Bentley #MississippiGirl
