I just ordered shrimp padtia and combo plate and the food was so good flavorful rice brown not yellow or orange was brown!!! When I called to order I should have known by the interaction that it was going to be a bad experience. He asked how much I was going to spend. It's a weird question. Gross and underwhelming is the only way to describe this. We got 2 meals with general gau, pork fried rice, crab Rangoons and chicken fingers and 1 with beef broccoli, pork fried rice, chicken wings and boneless ribs with The general gau was so overly sweet. It tasted like a cafeteria version of Chinese food. They serve the broccoli dry on the side. The crab rangoons were ok but the wrapper was weird and not quite crisp like they should be. Chicken fingers had a great texture but needed salt. The beef broccoli was edible but was so under seasoned. The chicken wings were dry and tasted old. The bbq ribs were weird and again super sweet. The worst of all was the rice. It tasted old and had the flavor of play-dough. We couldn't even eat it. It was nasty. Even the duck sauce is sweeter than usual. In summation everything is either too sweet or lacking seasoning. The rice is not edible and we actually are worried we may get sick from the bites we took. If you enjoy hospital food you may think this place is ok otherwise drive the extra few minutes and get anything else. read more

We have eaten in so many Chinese restaurants that finding good food is very difficult because the bar has been raised so many times. That being established, New Hot Wok is outstanding. Always always cooked perfectly. I suggest trying the Black Pepper Chicken and the Moza sticks. Yes, Mozzarella sticks!! Normally, I am happy with their food. However, at least two times I've received reheated leftovers that were dry and tasteless. This last time I actually found leftover french fries in my fried rice. I was very disappointed. read more

Ordered from a few times and always get much more fresh tasting food than other Chinese restaurants around here. They never skimp on food and really pack in a lot of rice in their container and give extra shrimp. Not drenched in grease or too salty. Always loved their chicken wings which is never dry but very tender. Definitely notice a difference with their food. In a good way that is. Inside has a table or two from the last time I saw. Heard it's a good place to hang out after class for high schoolers. Looked nice, pretty clean as well. Definitely recommend giving it a try! read more

We had high hopes for the 1st Chinese Restaurant in our pizza joint heavy town. Our 1st visit today left us wanting more. We brought our take out home and immediately learned the styrofoam containers are VERY thin and when trying to pull the 1st one out of the paper bag it sat tightly in, the container bottom folded under the weight of the contents inside. Luckily this portion of our $30 order was caught by the styrofoam container under it. After tearing the bag open to relieve the death grip it had on the tender vitals remaining inside of it, the 2nd container folded just like its buddy before it. The contents were deposited in the remaining torn portion of the bag. The goodies were everywhere but we managed to kind of get the orders separated. We then began to sample the goods. The chicken fingers were soggy. I assume it's from being in the steam trapping styrofoam box instead of a separate bag like other places. The crab rangoons were a victim of the same treatment but were smaller than expected. The rice was a bit chewy and slightly under done. The beef teriyaki was not quite what is traditional. It was more of a soft lump of beef and not on a stick. I really wanted this place to be as good as King Jade. They are very good but a bit of a drive. Guess we'll keep driving. read more

Man at the counter was a little snippy with me. No spoon like I asked. Some mystery liquid spilled out if the side of the container, I still can't figure out what it is. Must have been some grease from something? Chicken fingers are too well done, almost burnt. Pork in fried rice is white, not well done enough. Duck sauce is almost straight apple sauce. Should've gotten it as a drink instead of a dip. I'll give it six months. read more

We've ordered here several times, and they've always gotten our order wrong. I really don't think we could be much clearer about our order. Today was the worst; like always we ordered the Singapore style noodles with no shrimp, no egg and definitely no other meats.. It arrives with both chicken and pork, and when we call and tell them, they fail to fix their mistake. So now we have this serving of noodles we paid for just sitting here with no promise of a new order we can actually eat.. You would think they'd try and keep their customers happy! My family loves New Hot Wok! Hard to believe that great Chinese food can be found in the middle of nowhere, in a little hole-in-the wall. The vegetables are always fresh, the portions generous, and the sauce is not too heavy. The review that called it "over-priced garbage" is completely wrong. THEY SCREW UP YOUR ORDER EVERY TIME. It seems that every time i order is something new. ordered 5 different times giving them the benefit of the doubt. the first time, they forgot my chicken wings, the 2nd time i ordered fried rice no vegetables, obviously i got the vegetables, then the next time the rice was under cooked, called the restaurant the owner couldnt understand me then after waiting for an hour and 20 mins for my order i get the wrong size and when i go pick up the food they give me a large but the wrong type.. over all getting worst by the day and the kid there he is very unhappy working there and his attitude shows it.. read more

UPDATE: We've now ordered 3 times -- first two orders we picked up, third order we had delivered. 1st order was fantastic -- see longer review below. 2nd order everything but the dumplings was a bit off -- the sauces on the sesame chicken and the ribs were too sweet (and just too strong/hypertonic on the ribs), the fried wontons were tough -- maybe the regular chef had a night off? 3rd order -- fantastic again, same flavors as the first time -- bravo to the chef. Arrived in under 45 min (3.6ish miles away), everything was as hot and crispy as it should be. Still the most crispy sesame chicken I've ever had, delivered or in-house! The chow mei fun (thin vermicelli-sized noodle dish) was tender but not soggy and FULL of pork, egg, and veggies. The chicken fingers were a little greasy but, hey, they're deep fried chicken. We'll keep ordering! I was pleasantly surprised! We just moved to Douglas and I've lived all over the country, traveled a decent part of the globe, and have experienced a wide range of [American style] Chinese food. I wasn't expecting to find much here in Douglas since there aren't a lot of choices, but almost all of the items we ordered were surprisingly delicious and super fresh! The steamed dumplings were tender and flavorful with a great sweet/salty/vinegary sauce. The Sesame chicken was still super crispy even after my husband drove it 15 minutes home and we took our time opening it -- it was, in fact, still crispy the next morning, and not at all mealy like so many others have become from elsewhere. The garlic string beans were, unfortunately, not garlic -- I ordered them specifically because they weren't marked as spicy, and I wanted my kids to eat them -- but instead they came in a dark brown sauce flecked with red pepper flakes that I enjoyed, but the slight spicy action was too much for my kids and I didn't taste any garlic. The boneless spare ribs were pretty delicious -- not the absolute best I've ever had, but good -- although they did have a few bits of gristle. The only thing I was truly disappointed in were the crab rangoons. They were more like cream cheese rangoons -- I couldn't even taste or feel a hint of crab, but they were very crispy and my husband enjoyed them. I liked that the sauce was not fluorescent pink or orange -- it seemed like it may have been homemade with some element of fruit juice (pineapple maybe?). Overall, a great first experience. They are quick. We placed a very large order on a Friday night and it only took 35 minutes. The prices are decent. The food was ok. Beef terriyaki was just in a box not on a stick, which is ok, but I prefer the meat on the stick. We will give them another shot. Its nice to have an option other than pizza in town! read more

We ordered from here for the first time not really knowing what to expect. The food looked pretty, I'll give them that, but it was pretty bland and standard fair, which is normal for most Chinese restaurants, but what really got me was the crab ragoons. I bit into one thinking it'd taste like a crab ragoon and got a horrible shock when the flavor hitting my taste buds was that of a wet dog! It tasted exactly like the smell of a rank old wet dog. This grossed me out so badly I spat it back on the plate which is something I pretty much never do. I know this place is new and had it not been for that ragoon I'd probably try it again in a few months to see if it's improved but don't think I will be doing that now. Me and my husband are Douglas residents & we're very excited to hear about a Chinese place opening! We ordered out once last week. My complaints are - the beef teriyaki, they were so bland and not even on sticks & the pork fried rice, it was not very good. My compliments are- delicious beef lo mein & I loved the chicken fingers! I am also unimpressed with the advertising outside, their sign looks awful :/ we will try it again in a few months read more
