The staff is always helpful and knowledgeable about their offerings. Despite being a small store they really do a good job at trying to make it cohesive and make sense. Their mini backpack and purse wall is truly something to behold. Easily 50 to 70 different bags. The trick to hot topic is going for their sales. Full price tends to be a bit much, (except their tshirts which are about right). I'm considering a bit "old" for hot topic these days but I still enjoying it. Went in last week to shop with my daughter. We were having fun day cause she just got her braces off. We were in Reno for the day from Gardnervile. Now. I used to work at the mall before. As a manager. While shopping in this hot topic location on 09/30/2024 it was extremely uncomfortable. The manager at the location followed us very closely. Uncomfortable close. The hot topic manager was sure we were only in the store to steal and the manager is not good at looking for shop lifters. This woman stayed within 2 feet of me and my daughter while we were in the store. From the front door to the jewelry. Ended up storming out because I got grossed out by this woman following so uncomfortably close. She was so sure that my daughter and I came in to shoplift. making it obvious was we are shoplifters. Just because you're manager doesn't mean you know every customer is up to in your store. You cannot judge your customers based on what they look like. Used to also make a point to came to hot topic. We even have an account. We used to spend money here. But I will not spend in a location that likes to follow teenagers around that closely and is that rude to people that are looking. Yes I saw you standing next to me pretending to work when you were clearly staring at me and my daughter with a nasty bitch stare on your face. I get it it's Monday but not bitch day and chase customers out f the store day. Almost like she was tired of having people in the store is this is her way to chase them off. Usually buy something, have an account, but hot topic is not a friendly store to shop n. They will access you of stealing even when you not. Try smiling you work in customer service ". Great place to find stuff for my Disney, anime, and fandom obsessions. The staff is always so welcoming and friendly. There is always so many deals going on, so it's nice that the staff lets me know so I don't miss out on saving. The store is almost always so tidy and organized so when I come in I can find what I'm looking for. They also just recently updated their registers, now they have pin pads! So much easier to pay my credit card bill! read more

It is amazing to me how successfully Hot Topic has flowed with the trends over the years. I remember the pseudo punk and metal gear, the goth and nerd years. And now they have my BT21 KPop toys. With so many retail spaces closing, I love that I can still go to Hot Topic. The strong customer service is a major factor in their success. I was warmly greeted and made aware of special prices without being sold to. They have great sales and I always find something I want or a gift item for a friend. read more

Hot Topic -Meadowood Mall When I walked into this location at the mall, I seen some new Funko Pop figures for the New "Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom" so I only seen about 2 of them so I walked up to an employee and asked if they had a certain figure and instead of saying I'll look, she says to me without stopping everything. She said "No!" An when I ask about looking in the back she cut me off an walked off. The only reason for two stars is cause there is only one girl there that goes out and beyond to help a customer, if she was there I would've talked to her, I think shes a manager or something. But I didnt see her maybe next time. I only see myself going back when shes working, if shes not I will not be shopping there. read more

I have a teenage daughter who loves anime, so hot topic is her favorite place for shopping. I ordered several items from online for her BD and one dress we picked out was too big for her. So I went to the store to exchange to XS or S size but they didn't have it. I called the customer service and they didn't have any smaller size online either. So I picked another similar dress and called them back to get a replacement. This gentleman who I talked to from customer service noticed I was having a very hard time to get an exchange, so he wanted to help me as much as he could. He was going to ship the dress to my house and allowed me drop the dress that wasn't fit to the local store. I went to the hot topic in the meadowood mall and explained. The manager was letting me drop it off but didn't ask me anything or didn't scan the barcode or didn't look at the computer. How can the customer service know I returned the item? So, I asked her if she needs any information from me such as order number or my phone number and she said no. At that point I was alarmed, so I asked if I can have anything showing that I dropped the dress off to the store even her name. It was my protection in case things go wrong which happens a lot. She refused all of them even giving me her name and said I am not supposed to drop it off to the store and mail it out to the online warehouse. Then why did she even take the dress in the first place if that is not how it is done? Why was I sent here by online customer service? Everything was nonsense about her. A few minutes later she called the customer service and said that if I can return it to online. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. She says she is a manager. Instead of helping customers she was literally doing opposite. It was quite a surprise to know the person who has that kind of sour attitude and ignorance can be a manager. She shouldn't be even working in the store at all even as a regular staff. This store has lots of unique items and if you love anime you will love this store. I hope one person doesn't ruin the reputation /quality / customers of hot topic. read more

A hidden gem for vintage style clothing, who knew?! As a hoarder of vintage fashion I am always trying to get the goods with minimal spending. This is a good place to do that and I've decided not to keep it a secret any longer! They carry some of my favorite reproduction vintage brands at reasonable prices. If you are looking for cardigans, pencil skirts, or dresses with full circle skirts this can be a great place to find them! Being a Disney nerd, I love the variety of items they carry with various Disney characters on them. They have wallets, purses, jewelry, clothing, blankets, etc. Since we don't have an actual Disney store in town, this is the next best thing. The downside- though the website has plus sizes, the store very rarely carries them. I hate that because I need to be able to try on my clothes before I buy them. The staff was helpful without being overbearing and though I left without finding what I was looking for I was still glad I stopped in. read more

Today's experience has definitely left a sour taste. Very poor customer service!! I have stopped in to this store many times over the years with nothing bad to say about this location but the young woman who rang up my purchase today needs to learn some manners. Trying to guilt trip your customers into signing up for your 'rewards' isnt going to get you far. And dropping my items on the counter like it was week old garbage was amusing. Was it because I didnt want to sign up for your program? The previous customer seemed to get a completely different attitude, maybe because I'm not Female? I really dont know. I love this location! All of the employees are very accommodating and helpful, and I'm always welcomed when I walk in and told whatever deals they are having. Even though the clothes may be a bit overpriced, they are absolutely worth it. I've had one of their shirts for about 2 years now, and it's still in perfect condition. I own a lot of their items and I don't regret buying a single one of them. The store is always very clean, tidy and well organized. They get new stuff all the time, too. Ever since ive been coming to this location theres only been one Staff member who really goes out of her way to say "Hey" and tells me about deals going on. Most of the rest usually stays quiet but it's fine for me. I usually am shopping for lanyards because the tees there are a bit over priced. But usually I love the unique things that Hot Topic offers. read more

Have always had a great experience until today. Girl with weird eyebrows and dark purple hair and bangs let me into the fitting room. When at the register, she asked if anyone had helped me. I said "no." She responded with "ummmm I thought I let you into the dressing room, didn't I help you?" in a VERY rude way. Very disappointed in this customer service. read more

One of the worst customer services I've ever experienced! I won't bore everyone with all the little details, lets just say Keristy, I assume she's the manager since she obviously act as if she own the Hot Topic brands there, has no business being in retail. Every time I'm in there, if she's around, she just gave off this attitude that if you don't like it leave, even when I am paying for something. I've been there plenty of times recently because of the Funko crave, and when she's not around, most of the staff works were fairly friendly and helpful. But when she is around, I dont even see too many of them smile, and she always give me this attitude that I'm begging them for favorites, especially if I had to return or exchange for something. I've buy and returned plenty of the similar products with GameStop, Target, Barnes and Nobles and Best Buy, no one EVER acted the way she does, and it has been fairly consistent. During today's very unpleasant experience at that store, not only she continuously gave me disgusted looks and attitudes, but when I politely told her I do not appreciate this kind of attitude, she had the audacity tell me they don't need me being a customer there, and gave me her district manager to call. Wow, she must have a super tight relationship with that guy, I just never see any retail staff treat their customer like this without any provocation. If I was being unreasonable or rude, thats a different story, I was simply asking them to do something within their store policy! If this is kind of company culture they encourage, I hope they will go out of business soon. read more
