My husband's and I popped in because he needed a new coat. The sales clerk was incredibly helpful. There were several options that he looked at, but one really caught his attention. It wasn't his usual go to leather, but rather a polyester/ spandex with a light lining inside. The sales person suggested that he should zip it up and sit down. I asked why (I didn't know) and she said that just because it zips while standing up, it might pop open when you sit and redistribute your body mass. I love all the options there with shoes, p.j.s, screen tees, polo shirts, and suits. There's even a tailor that can help customize an article of clothing. We arrived around 10:30 and were warmly greeted by Trish. A tiny petite woman that upon first glance looked out of place at this" big man's"store. But she knew her stuff! She measured my guy, looked at my Pinterest site, understood the color scheme and pulled it all together beautifully. There were some extra shirts we wanted that she had to order, and a formal one we needed trailered, and we were still out of there in an hour. I finally got sick of my shirts always shrinking. This realization came after years of dealing with shirts that were always too short and not comfortable. This epiphany came 39 years into my life and was a result of a fluctuating waistline and being 6' 2" tall. I am a big guy, but not big. Hard to visualize until you shop at DXL. I am just tall enough and just well endowed to achieve the status of a shopper at this store. The clothing fits me well, looks good and I can be comfortable. Brands like Reebok and normal looking pants make you feel like everyone else. Overall the selection is pretty well rounded (pun intended) and they have sizing from XXL-7XL and Tall versions as well. I wish there were more colors and a bit more variety. Seems like big guys and clothing manufacturers of big guy clothing prefer solid dark colors to keep things looking under control. I would actually like to see some brighter colored athletic shirts and polo shirts to compliment my wardrobe. Pricing here is out of control! You would think I were buying a pair of skinny jeans in a European marketplace as they assign a premium price to each article and have you by your naughty bits if you "need" to shop here. I know there is more fabric, but does $60-75 bucks for a shirt or pants seem reasonable? I like the shopping experience, as the employees (all of which are small stature) are always friendly and willing to help out with finding or coordinating outfits etc. they are quick to offer the upsell to add on items with high markup at the close of your sale. Think of it as asking, would you like fries with that? Of course we would! The store is always clean and well organized. I think it is funny that they bring your purchase around the counter and register instead of reaching over the counter with your bag. The itty bitty water to go is a nice touch on the way out, but maybe ask people while shopping if they want a water to keep them comfortable in the store longer and possibly spending more. Being a gentleman of rather stout proportions, I have been a customer of DXL (Formerly Big & Tall Casual) for decades. Did that have any bearing on their decision to make a one-time exception for the exchange of a clearance item that failed on its first wear? No. Not only did they keep the torn pair of trousers, but they also forced me to pay full price for a second pair. I needed a black pair of dress pants to wear for an event. I shopped around for sales. It turned out that Ralph Lauren was doing its seasonal stock rotation, so I was fortunate to find a pair of pants for 70% off. Great! So I went to DXL. During the try-on process I received no help to determine whether the pair was the right size. They seemed a bit fit in the seat, but I figured that had to do with the style. I purchased them and went home. I hemmed the cuffs and set them aside. Two days later, I put them on and walked to the event at Wingfield. An hour into wearing them, I sat down in a chair and was astounded to discover the pair of pants came with built-in on-demand ventilation. Yes, from my waistband down to the knee the wool shredded into multiple long fragments. This happened in front of hundreds of people. Whee. The following day I had another event to attend, so I called up and explained my emergency to DXL. They said they would not exchange because "You wore them." and because "they are a clearance item." No store credit, no returns. They would not make an exception. Instead they offered their tailor services "on friday." They knew I needed to get to the next event, and they also were apparently blind because the wool was shredded, and entire back leg panel would need to be replaced. No tailor would be able to mend these. Since they know they're the only game in town for corpulent men such as myself, I guess they figure they don't need to retain high customer satisfaction. I had to buy an entire new pair of pants at full price. This, plus considering their items are marked up higher than the average clothier and shoddier materials for their in-house brands, plus the constant barragement of emails I receive every time I make a new purchase even though I opt-out of their marketing materials every time, I'm sorry to say that they are now on the low end of the retail experience spectrum for me. I brought my son in yesterday for the first time to buy a shirt and tie for an upcoming high school competition. My son has always hated shopping because he has never been able to fit in "normal" clothes that they have in other stores. I found your store while doing a web search and decided to try taking him there for his competition attire. I have to tell you, this was the best shopping experience ever for him (and me as well) and we will definitely be shopping for him only at this store from now on. We were welcomed immediately upon arriving and asked what we were looking for by the store manager, Trish Gertsma. We told her what we were looking for and she directed us to the proper department and proceeded to get measurements for a proper fit. She was friendly and engaging and extremely helpful. Her assistant, Mia, also came over to help, and both were a pleasure to speak with. As my son was getting measured and speaking with the staff, he looked so happy. He didn't feel "odd" or "fat" or anything else. You could see it in his eyes. He felt important and like he was good enough just the way he was, and I have never seen him feel that way in a shopping situation. There was none of that prejudice you sometimes find over being large. Just a desire to help and get him looking just the way he wanted. Because of this, I decided to not stop at just a shirt and tie, but to purchase an entire suit for him, with additional shirts and socks, a belt, and a pair of jeans as well, because we haven't been able to put him in jeans in the mall for years. He has just worn sweat pants or chef pants. The way Trish and Mia treated my son was just amazing and the gleam in his eyes when he was all dressed up was something I will never forget. He actually felt like he looked good. You can't put a price on that. People are always quick to complain, but not enough people take the time to let someone know they are doing an outstanding job and making a huge difference. I told both Trish and Mia how much I appreciated them while at the store, but I am hoping upper management will see this as well. Just came here to return some shorts my dad bought. The pocket ripped on them. The man that was helping us mentioned they had a tailor on site if we wanted to wait a few minutes while they sew it up. He also checked to see if there was another pair-- for an exchange. There was and we did an exchange. Super easy. No questions asked. The customer service here is GREAT. I saw some tees my dad may be interested in. He tried one on (the walking dead tee!!) and we were concerned about shrinkage. The guy helping us said machine wash cold, don't dry. Well my mom dries everything so we sized up. If it still shrinks in to a belly tee guess what? You can return it. Lots of great stuff here. Pricey, but it's a specialty store. We have seen this store change names a few times over the years and it seams that with every name change the store gets better. When they because DXL they acquired the rest of the building and expanded. Which we were very happy for! My husband is a big guy and find stylish clothes that fit him is hard. And good luck finding a t-shirt with a character on it at any retail store to fit a tall guy. We have been able to pick up button downs that fit perfectly, a few polos, and countless band and other t-shirts. They also have a great selection online! What we cant find in store we can usually find online. I go here for birthdays, Father's Day, Christmas or any time I want to spoil him with a new band or character tee. Sometimes, being a hungry guy in a delicious world means that the ole waist line is a bit expanded. So I found myself needed a jacket in a hurry and no time to order online like I prefer. In a normal department store, I find myself trapped between normal and their big and tall section. Somehow, everything that fits my waist means I should be 6" shorter. Macy's and the like just REFUSE to acknowledge that I can be a tall and stout man. Well here at DXL, they get it. Pricing is certainly a bit higher, but it is worth it! The clothes fit nice and don't make me look like a box. The staff is also VERY friendly. The young lady treated me like I was the only person in the store, making recommendations, pairing shirts and jeans, and finding the perfect jacket. I confirmed that even as I slim down, I should still fit on the small end in their store which is GREAT. Horrible customer service and do not stand behind their merchandise. My husband bought a pair of shoes for work for almost $100.00. After 3 days the stitching was coming out and they refused to exchange or refund him because they couldn't resell the pair that was falling apart. First and last time going to that store. read more

I stopped in with a friend because we couldn't find the right inseam for his pants. We did not end up getting what we needed because he is not a big guy, but the service was absolutely top-notch. We were greeted, listened to, and guided directly to the section that held the size we needed. I wish I could remember the saleswoman's name to give her credit for a wonderful example of how customer service should be offered. Leslie? Not sure, we were shopping all day.
