Somehow, I learned about a children's production presented through their educational wing. I'm not sure if their education & engagement was this strong in years past or perhaps I simply wasn't dialed into their offerings, but that's definitely changing now. We went to see Splish Splash. This was a 50 minute long story about a blue heron and friends who are seeking to repair the moon after it fell into Lake Michigan. There were songs, there was play, and it was highly interactive. The kids--fellow "sailors", along with three of the cast members--learned a song to sing along at various parts of the show. There were several times when the kids were invited onto the "stage" (it was in one of their lab/classroom spaces, so there wasn't a raised stage) to help or participate. It was so well done, and kept the kids engaged. I really loved how this experience was designed. Upon arrival we were checked in and pointed to one of the classroom spaces. I was surprised because I wasn't sure how actors could be safe there, but it was actually a room for the kids to color and read books or play with toys and stuff before we were taken into the room where the performance took place. I've only seen something that was meant to keep kids busy like that before showtime is at Filament Theatre, and we've gone to kids shows at two or three other theaters by now. It was a great touch. This production was specifically geared toward children aged 0-5, which is atypical and felt so special that it was written with the littlest theatergoers. One of the important pre-show reminders was for adults, reminding us that it's a no-shush zone! I'm so excited that one of the most important theaters in the city, and the oldest non-profit theater still in operation in Chicago, is so committed to developing young audiences in an exciting way and meeting them where they're at. We'll be regulars at their Theatre for the Very Young programs.

With just one day left before the event, I was desperate and had no idea where to turn. Out of sheer panic, I asked ChatGPT (no eye rolls please, lol) what to do--and when I inquired about a concierge-level, white glove ticket broker, it recommended Dan Finkel at Gold Coast Tickets. Let me just say: ChatGPT nailed it. Dan took really good care of me on price and walked me through the process step-by-step. It was seamless, and the money was in my account the moment he received the wristbands. But what happened next absolutely stunned me: Two of the four wristbands weren't working properly. I happened to be on the phone with Dan when the issue arose--and I overheard him calmly reassuring the new buyers that if anything didn't work, he'd send a courier immediately with replacements. And then... I heard him do exactly that--dispatching two new wristbands to the buyers on the spot. Even though the issue was on my end, Dan handled everything with grace, speed, and total professionalism. He protected the buyers, took responsibility, and made sure everyone was taken care of. This is exactly the kind of Midas-touch, high-integrity, concierge-level service I had asked ChatGPT about--and I got to watch it unfold in real time. If you're looking for someone who handles both buyer and seller with care, fairness, and human kindness, Dan Finkel is your guy. Whether you're in Chicago or anywhere else--go to Gold Coast Tickets. I'm still stunned. And yes... apparently ChatGPT really does know everything. And no--ChatGPT didn't write this review. I did. ;)

The costumes were a whole moment! Bright, bold, colorful, and creative--every scene felt like a visual celebration. Just beautiful to watch. And the dancing?? Whew! High-energy, sharp, and so fun. This was my first time at this theater and O. My. Gawd. The elegance hit me the second I walked in. The entire place is like stepping into a glamorous time capsule. Think ornate, gilded ceilings, rich and flamboyant architectural details, and walls that look like they were decorated for royalty. Massive, sparkling chandeliers hang overhead like they're showing off -- and honestly, they should. Everything felt extravagant in the best possible way. Now, a small downside: the women's bathroom on the second floor only has three stalls. During intermission the line was long, like "please don't let the curtain go up yet" long. I heard there's another restroom downstairs, so if you're a planner like me, maybe scope that out before the show starts. The staff and ushers were wonderful -- super attentive, helpful, and very observant. They kept everything running smoothly and made the whole experience feel welcoming. Definitely make sure you plan ahead for parking or valet, since downtown can get a little hectic, especially on show nights. Overall, this is a gorgeous, historic theater that knows how to make a night out feel magical. I can't wait to come back!

I immediately received a confirmation email of the purchase to wait for an email with details for the electronic transfer of the tickets. Mind you the show is 4 days away so after 19 hours of no further word from the seller, I worried and found all these frightening reviews so I called my bank to see about disputing the charge which included the insurance in case I needed a refund. By the way when I reached out to the insurance company using the link they sent me, it said they could not locate a policy number with my name and number. So don't bother with the insurance in my opinion- just a way to give them an extra $25. The bank suggested I try to reach out before I perused the disputed so I emailed them using the same email I got with the confirmation number. I was polite, brief and asked for an update. I received a very professional and friendly email reply within 20 minutes suggesting I wait and explaining the process a little better about waiting for the seller to contact me via email. Then not 30 minutes later I received an email with the ticket transfer from Ticketmaster and after I signed into Ticketmaster I was able to transfer the tickets easily and quickly. Maybe it was luck but all worked out splendidly for me despite many of the other horrifying reviews. Just be patient, courteous and give them a chance because once they have payment your best bet is to use kindness as your weapon of choice and see how much further you will get like I did the very first time. Hope this helps some folks but I might stick to purchasing straight from Ticketmaster in the future but if you made a purchase and don't hear back quickly just send them a nice note to ask and you might be surprised at the outcome!

Nothing. Over 4 days I spent 1.5 hours on the phone, plus time searching the web and fiddling with the app. MLB customer service reps said there was nothing wrong with the app. You (BoxOfficeTicketSales.com) said you re-sent them. I waited more. The Guardians box office didn't find any record of the tickets, and finally said that BoxOfficeTicketSales.com was a 3rd party seller. Your web presence is highly deceptive: I would have checked out reviews before I purchased from you had that been clearer. Your customer service hours are seemingly built around when you want to staff it - the heart of work days are not ideal times to hang out on the phone for 20+ minutes to solve a problem you created. But I called again after trying over the weekend at 9 AM Monday 4-13-26 to find you're not open until 10AM when I'm in meetings. I arrange my schedule to set aside my lunch hour to call, and finally get a person. We're on for 29 minutes (ending at 1:48 PM) and he finds the tickets were successfully loaded, but into SeatGeek, not the MLB Ballpark app as your e-mail says. We can get into SeatGeek on the web (he initiated the account), but the SeatGeek app - which is required - will not send an e-mail to JEB224@georgetown.edu to verify. So, still no tickets actually available to me. My BoxOfficeTicketSales.com customer service rep then says he can't do anything about this particular problem (like actually delivering them to the MLB Ballpark as the e-mail said you would), and I have to call SeatGeek myself to fix the issue with the app. Incredible: delivered to the wrong location and then left to fend. I go back on the SeatGeek website to see what I can do, and find I can transfer the tickets. I tried that, and at last there are the tickets in my MLB Ballpark app. Only took 4 days, 1.5 hours on the phone, plus time searching the web for fixes, plus ... But wait, there's more. Now that I have them, I look up the seats right next to them on the Guardians site. You have literally quadrupled the price. At this point, I want a refund. I'll turn the tickets back and my wife and I will simply show up at the ballpark and buy tickets on Friday. This whole process has been deceptive, with horrendous service, flat out wrong in what I'm told where/how the tickets would be delivered, and leaving me in the lurch to solve the problem. And I'm overcharged grossly for the privilege. I have a close relative who has a decent social media presence, and one of the things he does is help friends and contacts with MLB tickets and recommendations - quite a bit actually. At this point, I'm ready to forward this e-mail to him to post so he doesn't mislead the folks in his network. I don't write often - ever, really. But this was just an awful experience that has left a very bad taste in my mouth.

It's basically a cabaret - a combination of fine dining and interactive Cirque Du Soleil-style entertainment in an intimate setting. The elaborate décor will blow your mind. It's absolutely gorgeous. The quality of the food far surpassed typical dinner theatre fare. Each of the four courses was artfully plated, served at the proper temperature, and downright delicious. The goat cheese bell pepper scones app was more of an amuse bouche than a true course and no other bread was served (unless you order Parkerhouse rolls, an à la carte add-on that costs $16. Indeed!). After that, though, portions were ample. The bourbon peached glazed salmon entrée, plated with inventive side dishes, was perfection. Other à la carte dishes and entrée upgrades are available but no one in our party felt the need to order those. The service was impeccable. Variety acts were interspersed between courses - singers, dancers, a juggler, a comedian, an aerialist, and more. There was a lot of talent but it was comic actor Joe who stole the show, portraying several roles. Totally enjoyable and well worth the ticket price.

Looking on their website, there are other torture museum outposts in Florida, California, Branson (MO), and Berlin, Germany in addition to Chicago. The Chicago location is on the compact side, but packs over 100 medieval artifacts into dimly-lighted, macabre space occupying two levels. My timing for visiting was right around Halloween. I purchased tickets online (can get a very slight discount buying online) for a friend's belated birthday. He had always wanted to see this space, and we had scheduled an outing here, followed by happy hour libations. My interactions with the front-desk/check-in personnel (a younger gentleman and a woman getting off of her shift) were pleasant and professional. The young man mentioned that he was studying art. I'm sure this museum gave him plenty of inspiration. To the side of the check-in/welcome area there is a souvenir shop. I didn't really see anything that grabbed me, but there were a couple of promotions taking place and the displays/signage were memorable and lighthearted, considering the grim subject matter. Before making our way to the exhibit, we cued up the audio guide on our phones. The guide is easily accessible through Apple and Android, although I wish I had brought headphones, as I quailed at blasting the sound through speakers with other patrons around. Fortunately, this is more of a selfie and photography-geared space, so there were no dirty looks as I would have expected in a traditional museum or gallery. This museum has something for everyone, whether one is an avid reader of all of the informational material around the exhibits (raises hand) or prefers a more interactive, hands-on experience and photo-ops to capture the thrills and chills. Among the most arresting items are a torture rack from 15th-century Spain and a life-size replica of Joan of Arc being burned at the stake. Over the sound system, occasionally dramatized screams and creaking chains play to heighten the creepy ambiance. All told, it took around an hour to peruse the space, sharing impressions and taking photos.
