Welp! Looks like I've found another "kitchen" that'll go to often now!! Breaking out from a 5-day fast, most people are advised to have a: 1. Bone Broth Soup 2. High Protein 3. Healthy Fats Before coming here, I have been looking for a place to have a simple bone broth soup, no fancy ambiance, no over-complicated menus, & no loud music, just a straight to the point meal. Out of all 5 that I've searched, this stood out for me the most, simply because of their approach and customizability. And I'm very glad I did!! Loved the quiet ambiance, the cleanliness, and the atmosphere. The staff are so helpful explaining everything and the simplicity of the place makes it perfect! Think of this place as an "inverted" hotpot place. Usually, a hotpot place that you may be familiar with is that they bring you the ingredients, then YOU cook it like your typical K-Pop/J-pop BBQ joints. This one is the other way around, here you grab a bowl & tongs, pick the ingredients to your liking, and then THEY will cook it for you!!! What an awesome idea, and innovative in my honest opinion!! Then the meal, OMFG! My custom bone broth soup (the light-hazy broth) is close to perfection! The texture is on the milky side similar to your usual Tonkotsu Ramen, but the taste is sublime. Since I'm breaking my fast, I picked almost every protein that I could find! And surprisingly enough, they have (artificial) crabsticks!! I love those suckers! The only thing that I can knock it down a notch is that, it's a bit too spicy for my liking (I'm definitely NOT a spicy food eater), spicy enough to make me sweat tight away! My only suggestion is that they should offer a spice level for the BBS as this will likely be a bestseller if they do it. My aunt sukiyaki (the clear-dark broth) looks very appetizing, although I haven't tried it myself, she told me it was surprisingly good. If you want a customizable hotpot place without the cooking part and no BS, then this is your place!! A definite recommendation from me!!! read more

I was looking for a new restaurant to try for mother's Day & came across Hot Point Since it was our first time here, we didn't really know how the order process worked. The host that served us, younger fellow with glasses, he was informative and explained how the process worked. He made us feel welcome to inquire and ask questions and offered samples of the different broths. Some places make you feel rushed or can make you feel dumb for not knowing how to order, but not at Hot Point. We really appreciated the walk through and kindness from the staff. The food was delicious, fresh ingredients, when there were ingredients running low, the server quickly refilled. My 4 different broth options with mild, medium, hot spice options. Several veggie options, tofu options, meat and seafood proteins. Variety of noodles and sauces. As a plus they offer free lemon water & sweet tea! They keep the heat in the kitchen, so when you're enjoying soup in the summer time, it's not hot in the restaurant. The music they play is upbeat, was singing along to a lot of the jams. The host stopped by at just the right times, not too son after receiving food and not too late where we might have needed something else. When we had left overs, the host kindly packed our togo bowls & separated the noodles from the broth for my auntie. Service is top notch. Theyve only been open for 3 months, if you're looking for a local business to support Hot Point is a great choice. With 4 people at Happy Hour, 3 of us got big portions & 1 smaller portion. Small mom and pop shop that definitely deserves more! I was lured in by their 50% deal that is currently going on for the next couple weeks on Sunday. Although the place was clean it didn't have much decor or aesthetics. However the food was tasty! We were greeted by the owner (I think) who took our order. He even offered samples of the 4 broth options he had! I ended up getting one w/ tomato soup and one OG broth. The tomato broth was a bit thicker with a sweeter note while the OG broth gave me oxtail bone flavor that was a tad spicy (it only came in mild or spicier). The selection there is not as much as other places that I've been to before but it had everything I liked. This was prob the only place that had the fishball with 'fish roe' which is my fave. The inside is a bit more watery than most but it's packed w flavor. There was also a sauce bar on the side that was self serve. There were various options like bbq sautee, soy sauce, sesame/peanut sauce, etc. I would definitely come back whenever im craving something warm :) read more

Really nice customer service even though it's a self-serve style restaurant, they're always checking on you as you dine in. Clean space and lots of seating Pretty standard ingredient bar with lots of different options to choose from. Nothing that really stands out as unique but that's not a bad thing. It has all the staples, same with the sauce bar. All broths are really flavorful, we especially loved the signature bone broth and the hot & sour golden which they let you have samples of before choosing. My only gripe is that everything was kind of overcooked. Before even digging in I noticed my napa cabbage and bok choy were all soggy, wide yam noodles soft, fishcake bloated, and brisket already tough and dry. It's straightforward and lets you control exactly how protein-heavy or vegetable-forward you want your bowl to be. We tried two broths: the Signature Bone Beef Broth with spice and the Sukiyaki soup. The bone beef broth was creamy with controlled heat: rich but not overwhelming. The sukiyaki broth leaned darker and slightly sweet-savory, giving the brisket and pork belly a deeper, almost braised flavor profile. Our selections included brisket, pork belly, lotus root, quail egg, spinach, and tofu. The tofu held its texture well and absorbed flavor nicely. My fam wanted to eat hot pot/shabu shabu at Mikiya, but they don't accept reservations and the wait was over an hour, so we went to Hot Point right across the street because Malatang is like hot pot but cheaper and faster! We didn't get wagyu, but we did get fresh ingredients, delicious broth, and immediate service. The owner, Calvin, was very helpful in helping us choose broths. My Chinese husband absolutely raved about the signature bone broth, which had a slight kick to it--he said it was the best he's ever had. Even my baby loved the food. The bill was surprisingly cheap for what we got, but they do have a grand opening special right now (normally $14.99 a pound but it's 20% off). My only wish is that they have a bigger selection of things, but it wasn't bad! So go check out this new business! read more
