I've gone to Hot Nails for about four months and have been happy with the services until my very negative experience today with extremely unprofessional staff.
Today I came for an acrylic fill and toe polish change. I had an appointment for 2pm and could see with the waiting room full that they had overbooked appointments.
The Boss Lady who did my nails rushed through buffing off my gel polish and shaping my nails. She never added acrylic for a fill but since my nails looked shaped well and were relatively smoothed out, I didn't say anything and I knew she was trying to move quickly to get to her next client. She painted my nails with gel and they looked fine--I never had the fill so expected to get changed for a polish change.
She moved her next client in to the seat and I moved to have my toes painted in a different chair by someone else.
I sat at the dryer for a while with my wet toes and chatted with another client. When my nails were dry, I went to pay.
At check out, the Boss Lady charged me for the acrylic fill service that was not done. At that time I said, I thought I would be charged for a polish changed, since I never did actually get a fill. **Cue the unprofessionalism**. At this point I was told that I was lying, that so many women try to "pull this". I was told that if I didn't have a fill, my nails wouldn't look smooth. Then the Boss Lady started asking random customers who were seated if it looked like I got a fill and that I was lying (which made everyone very uncomfortable). Eventually she said we have a video camera, should I pull up the footage?! I agreed! Yes! Please do, to prove that I am not lying and that you are behaving extremely unprofessionally.
This get ever better folks. At this point I'm standing with two employees looking through footage and yelling. Eventually, she holds up a screen that is a video of the floor and a part of her back and says, "see, that's me doing it". I said, "I can't see your hands or my hands in this video at all. Let me just pay and leave. This is ridiculous and I know I'm not lying. You're trying to bill me for services not preformed." I also asked if I could please take a photo of the video and they said no I was not allowed. I paid the fee for the services not preformed and left. Really for me, the issue is the unprofessionalism. Yelling that I'm lying, asking random customers who weren't even next to me while I was getting my 'polish change' and using a video of the floor as evidence that I was lying. I am disappointed in the staff and will not be returning. read more
