Just Hot Dogs is basically a little walk-up shack with a drive-through that's been sitting in the same parking lot forever. Businesses around it have come and gone, but this place is still standing. It's a true little mom-and-pop type of spot. I think it's a couple running it, and every time I've been here they've been really nice. More importantly, the food has stayed consistent. They're known for their Chicago-style hot dogs with the poppy seed buns, but they have quite a bit more than just hot dogs. I've tried the roast beef, which comes with the dip, and their fries are really good. They taste like they're made fresh and I'm pretty sure they're hand-cut. They also have things like chocolate-covered bananas and Balboa bars. I got a chocolate-covered banana this time, they asked if I wanted nuts, wrapped it up in foil and had it ready to go. One little thing I really appreciated was that when I told them some of my order was to-go, they actually asked when I wanted them to make it so it wouldn't sit around and get soggy. It's such a small thing, but that's the kind of care you get at places like this. I've been here a few times now, and the quality has always been consistent. The prices are also really reasonable, which feels harder and harder to find nowadays. It has that old-school neighborhood donut-shop kind of feeling where you recognize that it's just a couple of people running their little business and doing their thing. I hope they stay around for a long time. Places like this are getting harder to find, and I'd much rather spend my money here than at another chain.

I've always…read moreenjoyed the food, happy hour, and generally welcoming atmosphere, which is why this recent experience was genuinely concerning. The indoor temperature was uncomfortably hot--easily in the 80s. I was literally sweating while sitting inside, and even my bartender was using her shirt to try to cool herself down. That should be a major concern for management, especially when employees are visibly struggling with the heat. Even the beer glasses weren't chilled, and because of the temperature inside, the beer warmed up very quickly. The second issue was with InKind payment processing. I've really enjoyed the collaboration with InKind and have been using it regularly to pay for my meals. Unfortunately, something went wrong during my visit and my card was charged instead of the payment coming from my InKind account. I was told it was "just a hold," but that hold caused one of my accounts to go negative and resulted in an overdraft fee. I understand that mistakes happen, but when a payment issue directly causes a customer to incur a bank fee, it becomes a much bigger problem than a minor inconvenience. What concerns me most is that these are issues that could easily make a regular customer stop coming back. I'll definitely continue to enjoy Dog Haus, but I'll be checking my receipts and payment method carefully from now on, and I would strongly recommend not leaving a tab open unless you're watching the charges closely. I hope management takes the temperature issue and payment-processing problem seriously. I'd hate to see a place I've enjoyed for months lose customers over problems that should be relatively straightforward to address.

I ordered the Polish sausage with fries, and the Polish was juicy, flavorful, and just how I remembered it. The fries were good, although they didn't seem as fresh as I would've liked. Now, that strawberry lemon cake shake? AMAZING! Sweet, creamy, and the perfect balance of strawberry and lemon. The service was pleasant, and while I didn't get a chance to dine in because my son was asleep in the car, I've always loved the atmosphere inside Portillo's. The decor, the energy, and that classic Chicago feel always bring back memories of home. Overall, it was a great experience and definitely worth the drive. I'll be back!

It's a busy parking lot with high foot traffic, so finding an open spot will be difficult. Ambiance/Environment: My friends and I visited on a Friday evening, and it was very busy. Thankfully, we were able to find an open table. They have a large space with plenty of indoor seating and covered outdoor seating. Service: There's multiple kiosks that you can order from. Everything is basically self-served. Once you order, you'd wait for your food, grab your own cups, and seat yourself. We noticed our food took a while, so we went to the pick-up counter to inquire about the wait, and our food was actually sitting there. Our number or name wasn't called out. I'd like to be notified when my order is ready. Food & drinks: They're well known for their sandwiches, but I decided to go with the Famous Meal #2: Two Hot Dog. The meal came with crinkle fries and a fountain drink. The hot dogs tasted as expected .. nothing bad but I didn't think there was anything special. They were also topped off with fresh tomatoes, lettuce, jalapeños, and a large pickle. Pricing: I thought the prices were high for sandwiches, burgers, and hot dogs. My meal basically did the job. I'll just have to come back to try their sandwiches.
