Needed something extra special to brighten a friends day and was lucky enough to find this little chocolatier. Even though I live in Arizona, the delivery was local so ordering online was super easy. Sent a follow up email question after I paid and they responded right away yay! Off to a great start so I had high expectations that the goodies would be as delicious as advertised... and they did not disappoint! Thank you for putting a huge chocolate eating grin on my friends face...she said the truffles were the best ever and the little frogs were just irresistible! The customer service is the best! The chocolates were packaged with care and delivered by courier the very same day, plus I got a call and email to make sure everything was received in good order....fantastic! The truffles are of very good quality and delicious. It's nice to see a store of this caliber in a smaller city. My only complaint is that I wish they had a legend available when you get a box. I get enough of a variety when I purchase them, that I find it hard to recognize which one I'm going to bite into. However, I still think this is always a good gift to give and even better to receive! read more

This place is adorable. I didn't know where to look or what to order first. They have an assortment of fancy vinegars, fancy coffees, fancy chocolates and fancy gelato. Everything looks so decadent! My family and I went with gelato and coffee. The Chocolate Truffle Gelato is to die for. Just what I needed for my chocolate fix! There are interesting flavour combos in addition to the usuals and you get 2 samples per person, so try something new! The coffee had a rich, nutty flavour that made you want to try their other coffee creations. Next time I'm in Courtenay, I'm definitely stopping by! read more

On one side of the store - Cakebread Artisan Breads - on the other, Hot Chocolates. Having taken over my friend's house, drank her wine and eaten her cereal, I felt it best to say thank you - and what better way (than a couple bottles of vino) to say it than with some chocolates? Hot Chocolates sells boxes of preselected offerings, but knowing my friend, and not so sure about her nut allergies, I decided to go straight to the counter. It sounds rather silly, but I felt like a kid in a candy shop, pressing her nose up to the glass and saying "I want that one" - so the idea of selecting a box of 24 chocolates by myself seemed so much more fun than letting someone else do it for me. And the choice they have! Chilli-stuffed truffles, Kahlua, Courvoisier, French Vanilla, Coconut, Salted Caramels, Blood Orange... I could keep going. When I started out, I thought - 24? I'll run out of choice! But it turned out to be much harder than I thought. Trying to put myself in someone elses' tastebuds - and cutting out all of the nut options - made it so much more difficult. The lady who helped me pick - and made plenty of recommendations - was so helpful and made the whole selection process even more fun than it was in the first place. Saying that - when I got them home, and the box was hastily ripped open, I felt that the choices I had made were just right. Turns out Hot Chocolates is the place in Courtenay to go for chocolate - and the smiles on everyone's faces just made my day. Vino? Who needs that when you have Hot Chocolates? read more

Delicious! This little Belgian handmade chocolates shop is amazingly delicious! Their amazing staff makes great suggestions and all the locals say you MUST go into hot chocolates when you are in the Comox Valley. I absolutely recommend getting a Belgian chocolate mocha. A small one is perfect because the cup of mocha is rich in chocolate and caffeine. The staff will actually ladle in melted Belgian chocolate into their chocolate flavoured drinks. read more

Coffee is good but the chocolates are what they're known for. For the price, they're amazing. Some of the best in the Valley. But they will ring you up a pretty buck. I always come here for the Iced Americano, and it's pretty tasty. The cakes and pasteries are good, but the gelato is second to none. Come here for the gelato, you won't be disappointed. read more

I was walking down 5th ave shopping before the wedding I had to attend to down the street when I was followed by a large white rabbit...yes followed. He was holding a basket full of chocolates. Of course I've naturally been taught when I was younger that I'm never to take candy from strangers, however, nobody ever said anything about a white rabbit. I followed the white rabbit into the chocolate store which looked like Willy Wonka's living room. So many arrays of chocolates all wrapped in pastel foils for Easter. Different flavor truffles and bars. The far left hand side of the shop is a bakery and coffee shop with desserts that look like something out of a magazine. They even have some sugar free syrups to take home beyond your basic raspberry and vanilla. It's sad that one of the best chocolate shops I've been to (not counting real chocolatiers in the Vancouver city) in a long time is all the way here in Courtenay. I even had the white rabbit escort me down the street arm in arm to my date who was waiting for me at the end of the street in his rental tux. Case in point: on a recent visit I accidentally left a bag of fudge I had paid for on the counter, when I contacted them they mailed the fudge down to me in Victoria, free of charge, with the typically friendly attitude you'll encounter on any visit to the store.
