On our way out of Courtenay, we made one last pit stop to check out Bigfoot Donuts. They're located across the street from Pizzeria Guerrilla. We dropped in on a Tuesday morning (around 10:15am). There were a couple of groups inside but service is prompt and efficient. 9 donut flavours to choose from along with a few savoury options (pizza pretzel looked tasty). Donut prices are reasonable ($2.00 to $3.00) and you save a bit when you buy 6/12 donuts. For drinks, there's coffee & espresso, tea, milk & more, seasonal drinks and their houseblend chai. All prices already include taxes. - Classic houseblend chai ($5.00 medium) - better than your usual chai but we could have used more punch in flavour. - Mixed variety - Bigfoot half dozen ($15.00) - we opted for the O.G. (original glazed), glazed crueller, apple fritter and three seasonal (pumpkin pie old fashioned, blackberry apple pie and pecan pie). The blackberry apple pie was fantastic; excellent texture and the filling was perfect. Just like eating apple pie. You can't go wrong with any of their monthly specials. BD's a must stop if you're a donut fan. Good quality, reasonably priced donuts! 4.5 stars.

We were driving through looking for a fun place to eat with the Kids and stopped in at Big foot! What a great experience! We got several different kinds and all were delicious! I had the Big foot and shared the Apple Fritter with my daughter, she had a chocolate cookie type one. All were great! Highly recommend stopping by and trying! Besides the wait to get in, it was a great experience!

We had such amazing donuts and coffee here. The breakfast sandwiches are amazing too, definitely recommend checking this spot out, it's so good! The staff are super nice too!

Delicious donut, one of the best I've had! However, found drink to be a bit bland so I took a star off.

A sour cream donut (below) and a apple fritter donut (above), half eaten of course.

Friendly atmosphere, and although the hours aren't really accessible to me (I work nights), still flexible if you're a morning person. Also, the donuts they serve are tasty, filling and a fresh take, since they have monthly flavours. Recommend as an alternative to Tim Hortons, if you're looking for a solid, home grown donut shop!

Awesome place, great owners. Always buy a bakers dozen when I'm around to being to clients.

So-so on last visit. Donuts weren't fresh in the afternoon. Took a bite and left it. Very disappointed.

We like really dense moist sourdough and took home a multi grain and a cinnamon raisin. The multi grain was good but the cinnamon reason was outstanding. Toasted with butter. You will thank me later!!

The best part of the pizza here was the dough, light and crisp. Considering it's a bakery that's to…read morebe expected. The place charges and presents itself as a gourmet pizzeria, so I had high expectations. But when I saw the pesto being used coming from a Costco jar and other ingredients out of zip locks, presumably also from Costco I was quite disappointed, offended even considering the price and pretence of gourmet. Aside from the dough and cooking technique, I could put those combinations together myself with my Costco pantry items... The pizzas did come out very cheesey and filled the hole. Oh and 3 out of the 6 listed on tap craft brews were out. The only reason I'm not going with 2 stars is mostly due to the small nature of the business. I'm sure if you're looking for a bakery item or bread specifically, this would be fine. On a holiday with limited meal times I'm disappointed I didn't go next door...

This place is absolutely a tourist trap, and that's okay, because if you are here, and you know…read morethat it is, and yes, there are Goats on the Roof, then you are going to love this place. Firstly, if you come here "late" like after 10am, then it might be a messy bit to find parking, but there is both parking behind and down along the drive into the property, or across the street also. Once you park, I recommend just heading to the Old Country Market itself, find a space a few meters back, and look on the roof, The roof has a rotating set of goats, which live up top. They are the attraction, and that is it. You got a place with Goats... on... the... roof. Once you have accomplished that, time to head inside and check out the offerings. First, if you are just rushing through, it's just going to feel like some random grocery market. Yes, lots of things are mass market, but when you SLOW down, and look around, you may start to find some lesser known, and okay, still Made in China, but local flair nevertheless. I recommend heading to the meat counter (assuming you like meat) and getting some Jerky, or other items.. because those are made locally. Then as you meander through the trinkets, you are going to find a mix between local and imported things. As you wonder back toward the baked products, you are going to see piles of loves of bread. I didn't try them, so can't recommend, however head past that, and you will find delicious case of based goods, including their house made Sausage Rolls, which are darn tasty. Go with their original one, then branch out. Again, meat lovers here. As you slowly, go around the store, being bumped by everyone around you, because there are too many people here, in this little shop, take in the fact that ABOVE YOUR HEAD, on the roof, are up there. So look, it's a trap, to be sure, and don't doubt it's going to be a mass of people, but honestly, you came here because it was a tourist trap, so go early, and take your time. Also, highly recommend the used book store nearby, once you free yourself of the money you are going to spend here in the market.

I did not see any Goats on the Roof. It may be too hot. The shop has plenty of goodies from…read morepastries to sandwiches. There were also home goods and kids toys that were sold here. It was super busy inside and there is back area for parking. Protip - buy some cheese and sandwiches and eat on the grassy area by the parking area.
