This place is soooooo shady, I ask the guy what's cheaper 2 bagels with veggie cream cheese $9 or half a pound of cream cheese and 2 bagels. Guy tells me the cream cheese and bagels proceeds to charge me 12.25.... so now I can have a half container of cream cheese to throw away and spent another 3.25. I really hate going to this place, it's only becouse the line at Carlos is soooooo long. We need another decent bagel option in Hawthorne. read more

This place has the worst service, and the prices are never consistent. Each time you go the food is a new price and there is no clear signage that shows the price you should be paying. The man with the NYU hat that takes order is also extremely rude, the lady at the register is okay but never knows what is going on. I'm not even sure she knows what prices to charge seeing as how one day a sandwich with an iced coffee is 12.74, but the next day the sandwich by itself is 12.22. Probably one of their regulars that recognized me every time I walk in the store. Most of the time it's the same thing, a plain bagel and a couple of wedges. A couple of wedges you say? What's that? It's an everything or sesame Flagel (you have to see it to believe it) cut in fourths, smeared with scallion cream cheese, tomatoes, purple onions, jalapeños and to top it off is a healthy supply of Lox! If you're going visit - at least give the flagel a try and order something from their vast menu! read more

In my opinion, this is one of the best bagel spots in the area. We used to go all the time when I was a kid and I try and get in a visit whenever I am in the area. Their bagels are fluffy on the inside, with a nice crunchy crust. They have a good variety of spreads and full deli sandwich menu. Service is quick although you should expect a line on the weekends. There is some seating in the shop but it's mainly a to go place. read more

The one star here is for the food - it is decent. However, the service is beyond terrible and therefore I cannot give more than one star. Every time I've been there (and it's a few times) they've messed up my order or forgot something and I had to wait longer for them to fix it/complete it. They need to establish a writing down system so they don't forget simple orders. If you can't remember two bagel sandwiches on a calm Wednesday afternoon, then you need to reevaluate how you do things. The recent experience I had really made me reconsider ever going back. There were four people working and I was the only customer in the place. I had some guy helping me and when one of his buddies showed up, I was completely forgotten about and pushed aside. I was left to wait around for someone else to help me because this guy couldn't wait to help his friend out. So if you are a friend of the employees, you will be treated like a king. If you are just some passerby, they will forget about you and treat you like nothing. read more

Maple Ave Hot Bagels is the place to go! Their bagels are always fresh and delicious. They make a full sandwich and make it worth the $. The staff is always friendly and you'll be in and out pretty quickly. They have tables to sit and eat, but I always take my food to go. I've also loved their lox on a flagle. Bagels are fluffy with a nice crust and the cream cheeses - vegetable and the lox varieties I tried, have always been excellent. Can't speak for the other folks who talk about bad experiences but I've never had a bad experience or rude server and have been here many times. The place is a bit plain vanilla because of the mostly takeout business, but at least they have chairs and tables if you want to sit and take a break. If you are looking for a solid lunch meal, the cheese steak sandwich is very well done - not greasy and great tasting beef on a roll loaded with onions and peppers. Great job. read more

Ordered a lox bagel on Uber eats for delivery because we can't take the risk of going to the store but wanted a delish breakfast from them. The lox bagel apparently comes in fours, not as a whole. This was not specified on Uber eats nor on any menu we've seen. Called to explain to the manager that this was an incredibly misleading, and unfortunate incident. I was met with hostility and utter disregard for the issue I was trying to raise. Would highly recommend the manager who talked to us go though some customer service training, as she was not helpful and was hostile to a customer. Picture added for size. read more

I just can't give this place a good review. The food was no good. I got a egg sandwich complete with tayler ham and cheese. I was eating and there was a crunch and then another and another. I checked the Taylor ham which wasn't burnt, there were crunchy chunks though. Almost like left over old bacon they didn't scrape off the grill? Maybe chunks of pepper? Either way I was not loving it and didn't eat it. They have muffins, but it was cold. Like refrigerator cold. The prices are way high, and the service is below average. I also just feel that the place is a little dirty, and everything seemed rushed. They asked more than once what was going on the sandwich, and they messed up a few of the people ahead of me. read more

Friendly helpful staff. LARGE bagels; fluffier and less dense than at some other bagel shops. Huge variety of salads and spreads. I'm sorry this is not the first time I've had an issue with this bagel place yet I continue to go back which is on me. I went in on Sunday after the morning rush noonish there were 5 people working, grill guy(busy) younger man(busy) filling an order, woman in mask filling Cream cheese in front, tall red beard guy by register (not sure what he was doing) and a woman walking back and forth from back area! There were two young guys waiting for food and me, I was the only person in the store wait to order. not one person asked me if I needed help or be right with you, NOT ONE! They all noticed I was there with eye contact, even the grill guy made eye contact! I waited 5 minutes and then walked out! Customer service in my experience is not their strong suit! read more

This place is definitely a Meh. Out of all the bagel stores I've ever been to this place is by far the worst. I used to go to this place alot, but I'm guessing they either changed owners or the place just doesn't give anymore. Service: I walked into the place there was a person in front of me that was waiting to be helped. There was one guy who was counting the money with gloves on and another that was putting chairs down. The guy that was counting money was finally done and decided to help customers luckily it wasn't me because he did not take off those gloves after he counted the money. Just nasty. Then I had to wait for the other guy to finish putting down the chairs and not wash his hands to finally take my order. I wish he washed his hands after touching the legs of chairs, but I might just be picky at this moment. The attitude on all the staff is just pitiful. It's like they don't even like working there. The manager or owner didn't even seem like he enjoyed working there. Food: I ordered a bagel with scallion cream cheese and one with cc and butter. Both bagels were subpar at best. There was no fluff the cc didn't taste like their was scallion in it. Decor: Just like any other bagel store. I've seen better even the owners didn't care, I've seen better. Called in an order to make life easier during this pandemic, I'm waiting in line because I see my bagels sitting there and no one helped me for 20 minutes. What is the point of calling in an order if 5 people just walked out with their bagels while mine are sitting there. Absolutely horrible service. The girls who work there are SO rude it's actually quite unbelievable. Everyone seems annoyed when you are just trying to give them business, and honestly the bagels aren't good. Honestly one of the worst breakfast sandwiches I've had in the area. I ordered Ubereats and it was cold(not their fault so I gave an extra star) but I ordered it on an everything bagel and instead received it on a plain bagel. There was SO much pepper that the inside of the bagel was black making it completely inedible. I tried to salvage it by putting it on another bagel but the pepper was so mixed in with the other ingredients in the sandwich there was no hope. Poor service. I come in frequently and was dumbfounded by the woman at the counter's lack of service. The gentleman with whom took my order was pleasant and helpful. However the woman who rang me out at 12:14:16PM on 11/20/18 was dismissive and cold. She literally left my wrapped bagels on the counter after she gave me my receipt and walked off. Is it that hard to put my bagels in a bag? Like they are right there for you. I was in the process of leaving a tip and the moment she walked off I crossed it out. I have come in 1-2 times a week for the past few months and haven't been greeted by that type of rudeness. Most likely won't be back again. read more
