Very grateful for the opportunity to have met Bryan Hostetler owner of Hostetler Construction. Me and my wife Autumn wanted to build an ADU in our backyard here in the city of Glendora. I reached out to six or seven different contractors, who do this type of work. NOTE: I am a very detailed contractor myself, so there was a lot of boxes that needed to be checked off in the interviewing process for the choice to be clear. We knew this was going to be an expensive project, making the right choice was very important. Bryan and his company was the clear choice for us, and I was confident we would all work well together. On Bryan's very first appointment, he came with the architect, designer Surge Mayer to navigate us right out the gate exactly what was and what wasn't possible. Surge and his team were on top of things, getting right to work. After a few months, going back-and-forth of what I was allowed to build per the setback, lot coverage, and easements? We picked a design that worked for our property and our needs. The city of Glendora took about seven months to get everything 100% approved. Surge and Bryan were on top of things checking in with the city and making any needed adjustments to keep the permitting process moving along. Through great communication once a permit was 100% approved. Bryan broke ground relatively quick. For about two months every single week there were workers scheduled at our house every day Monday through Friday and sometimes on Saturday. Bryan or his on-site Project Manager kept us informed every step of the way of what was gonna take place and if there were any changes that need to be made. They were very few change orders per the size of this job, most of them Brian let us know in advance that these may take place. So we were not surprised. The entire ADU took about 3 to 4 months from breaking ground to having the entire thing complete. like clockwork, the cruise were here on time and we're very consistent in their workflow, when necessary, Bryan would meet me early in the morning to go over any details with his Project Manager's or trade, Specialist. Of course, in construction, you're going to have little things pop up here and there, but their communication for any of that was definitely on point. Communication was one of the more important things I was looking for. Bryan is teamed up with years of relationships with very experienced concrete foundation teams, plumbers, roofers, drywaller's, custom cabinet guys, electricians, HVAC. Of course, I've got to mention the guys that stood out the most to me: (Demo) George & Nick (Framing) Jose & his son (Tile) Moises (Tile Floor) Jesse & Pablo (Drywall) Mike (Cabinets) Doug (Finish) Paco, Josiah (Trash PU) Nick. Trust me there was plenty more gentlemen than just a few I named that all did an amazing job. They showed up on time, they cleaned up after themselves, and they were very respectful to our property and our neighbors. Brian has a very well oiled machine and a really good team that goes above and beyond day and day out. Project: 872 ft.² ADU two bedroom two bath, master bedroom, big enough for a king bed, walk-in closet with custom shelving , built in custom desk with cabinets above, , pantry, with all appliances, would look tile flooring throughout, three mini split AC systems, bathtub, and guest bathroom, walk-in shower, and master. Custom shower doors, stackable, washer, and dryer with cabinets up above. Three ceiling fans, plenty of LED lights, plenty of lighting in both bathrooms, two spotlights on the side of the house with a three-way switch from the front and back door. Stubbed out plumbing for future water softener. Three external hose bibs for water, plenty of outlet outlets on the outside. Matching our current home perfectly. We hired Hostetler construction for a renovation that would touch every inch of the house besides the very front portion (including kitchen and both bathrooms). Our plan was to attempt to continue to live in the home (despite caution). The full renovation/addition took about 4 months and in hindsight, I should've journaled all throughout but, highlights: 1. Bryan's (owner) team is absolutely amazing. By my calculation between, roofers, stucco, framers, painters, plumbers, electricians, hvac, and Bryan's in house team (14 guys), we had around 70 men, in, on, and around our home. What is surprising is that ALL of them were courteous and respectful. Some of them were downright spectacular! My kids had their favorite sub (Bryans cabinet guy) who brought them donuts, and their favorite of bryans team who talked to them about Pokémon, but I can tell you first hand, after living side by side with crew and family-- I wasn't once uncomfortable! From the choice in music, to thoughtful warnings when it was going to be loud around the kids, to friendly smiles and greetings, I have never interacted with such an amazing team of people! 2. The actual finished product is beautiful, but I'd have to say the "highlight" is kinda random--baseboard! Who knew that this would make every room of the house feel absolutely like a new home! His team sprays the baseboard instead of painting and the finished product is truly like a frame around a painting, I can't say how many times I've walked passed and just marveled at the "new home" feel 3. Owner himself. It is evident immediately that Bryan's number one goal is to make the client happy. There's a reason he's only gotten 5 stars, if it's not right, he WILL make it right. The company is scheduled, organized, methodical and transparent. 4. Extra mile. The company runs several jobs all at once which is why Bryan can have such a large team of subs/crew on hand. This means things can almost always stay "moving" but on the days where the job could've come to a halt, Hostetler construction has "reinforcements"--the company swallows the extra cost of getting that "plumbing issue" resolved quickly, or troubleshooting finicky electrical through contacts . I know with a lot of companies, they'd either be too small or too busy to deal directly with those issues, but Bryan will get someone there. 5. We ended up spending more than we had budgeted but that's the age old "if you give a mouse a cookie". Hostetler construction is a "big, small company" the polish does cost a bit more, but there's no doubt it's worth it! watching other renos at my neighbors or some of the things Hostetler construction found when uncovering previous work done to our home, spending a bit extra is definitely worth it! So when one contractor (NOT Hostetler) says are you ok with cutting corners (to reduce pricing), my thought was, no sir I have no idea what that even entails, so no that is not OK. Auto redflags! I just finished a project with Hostetler Construction. Researching for a contractor to do a bathroom remodel is daunting, overwhelming and downright scary. I researched on and off for a couple of years, and during this time, Hostetler Construction continued to show up in my search. I finally made a decision and invited Bryan Hostetler and another contractor to give me bids. Both had good reviews, but I eventually chose Hostetler. My final decision was based on various factors, one of them obviously being price which also included some items in the base price that were not included in the other bid. I don't feel that I sacrificed any quality by selecting the lower bidder; I got a quality remodel while saving a few bucks. I am very, very happy with how it turned out. Bryan has been very patient. This time around we were very lucky to find Bryan at Hostetler Construction to complete our master bathroom project. Bryan falls into the category of an excellent contractor. He was honest, upfront, and clear about the cost, expected timeline, and details of the work he and his crew would be completing. Bryan provided us with a detailed quote. He came over and sat down with us explaining each part of the quote and the type of work to be done and parts/materials that would be needed for each area. He provided a timeline for the completion of the job and explained his crew would be working up to six days a week. Once we signed the contract and the work began, Bryan's communication was great. He would call or text us to constantly keep us up to date on the following day's work schedule. He is the deputy manager of the project. Trained as an electrician, roofer, and knowledgeable about plumbing, he is an expert on framing and putting up walls. Like many other members of Bryan's team, he does all jobs, big or small. When we saw Noah entering the scene, we knew immediately that a special skill was needed that day. He is called for particular jobs, jobs that require Noah to do that task and to solve that problem. 3. Eric has an outstanding, dynamic personality; a smile does not leave his face even in 100-plus degree temperatures. An excellent multi-tasker and communicator, he worked fast and hard, both inside and outside of the ADU structure. Hostettler Construction just completed building a free-standing one-bedroom/one-bath ADU behind our house. We are totally satisfied with the work Bryan, his crew and subs did on our project. Bryan distinguished himself from the field of other recommended builders we spoke with by being very proactive- asking to visit the property on our first phone call, taking the time to understand what we wanted and the nature of the site. Our house was built in 1962, and our bathroom was way past due for a remodel. I called several local contractors (a lot of them never even retuned my calls), to come by and give me quotes. Bryan, the owner, called me back himself, and stopped by the next day to scope out the job. While his quote wasn't the cheapest, but he was by far the most detailed. After a little back and forth, we settled on a price, and a timeline. Bryan's crew showed up on time and the work began. The team was lead by Parker, who explained everything they were doing daily.
