Stevie arriving by his Bike to Da Vincenzo for another beautiful dinner!!!!

What a incredible find in Roma when we visited 6 years ago and have always dined here at least two times on every visit, since. The food, ambiance, and staff are all off the charts, SOOOO GOOD. From the moment you walk in the front door to the moment you walk out the front door you are treated as family in one of the finest restaurants in all of Italy. One important sidenote, the place is always filled with locals, that is all you need to know!!! We enjoy our dinners at Da Vincenzo, immensely.

For those who just want the quick version, this was an AMAZING meal and the service was excellent! I walked by this restaurant all week as it is one block past the apartment I rented, but tonight it was raining and didn't feel like going far and decided to stop in to see if a table was available. They were very welcoming and in fact all the staff turned and said good evening in Italian as we made our way to our table. I started with the zucchini flowers, fried yet delicate and perfectly seasoned, then onto the pasta cooked to perfection and eggplant parmesan (aubergine), and steak with mushroom sauce which was delicious and perfectly cooked! I was paying my bill and asked where I could get milk for my morning coffee in the area, it was late and as the woman was trying to describe the closest place she walked away and came back with a whole bottle of milk and said "here, it is raining and late", so kind. I enjoyed the meal so much I may break my rule and head back again tomorrow.

Fabulous mussels with heavenly garlic white wine sauce

I've had many good meals in Italy, but this was a cut above. The Veal Saltimbocca was the best I've ever sampled.

But as soon as we tasted this sauce, sitting in the refreshing night air of Rome, nothing could ever compare again.

When we arrived on a late afternoon, we waited about 10 minutes before getting seated. To start off, we got the Limoncello Spritz (€10) and Aperol Spritz (€10), which were refreshing. For our pasta, we ordered the Fettuccine with Oxtail (€18) and Carbonara (€17). We also wanted to order two more Secondi dishes, but the waiter warned us that the pasta is filling. After we finished the pasta, we did still order the Rabbit (€19) because it wasn't something we usually see on the menu. For the carbonara, the flavor was delicious but not really my favorite pasta shape. It was also quite al dente with a chewy texture. I have to say that the oxtail was spectacular though with its juicy and tender meat sauce. While the rabbit was nice to try once, it was a bit dry with minimal meat. Overall, good spot but nothing worth waiting too long for. Also, I'd stick to the pasta here as it's all handmade. You even see them handrolling them inside. Note that they also charge €2 per person for service fee already.

The pasta was perfectly cooked, coated in the creamiest, silkiest sauce, and the Parmesan cheese was absolutely heavenly. Simple ingredients, flawless execution. I also had the berry cheesecake, and it was just as amazing. Light, creamy, not too sweet, and the berry topping tied everything together perfectly. Pure heaven from start to finish. From the food to the experience, this place is a must when you're in Rome. I'd come back again and again without hesitation.

Our hotel manager had suggested another restaurant, but I was apprehensive to try, but did later, more on that restaurant review in it's own post. I rather did what I should have done throughout the trip to, which is to search google for local reviews. This tactic I found to be much better than to trust American reviews for restaurants to visit from Youtube or even here, just because the American touristy taste tends to favor bland or Olive Garden style pseudo Italian. The real Italian taste is much different and something one needs to develop. I was familiar with European Italian food, as I had said before in other reviews that Mexico has better Italian food outside of Italy. Additionally, the good restaurants here in Italy do not open before 7 PM. If it does or if someone that looks foreign to Italy is outside trying to lure you in, it's a tourist restaurant with iffy flavor. At this restaurant my husband had the Lobster pasta and I had the spinach/ricotta ravioli, and we both were beyond satisfied. We also had the artichoke as an appetizer, and trusted the waiter with his suggestion for a bottle of wine. He must have been some genius because the wine went well with our meal. The ambience was cozy and very family oriented, however, the rain outside made it romantic for us. Another key point for this restaurant and it traditional flare was that they brought out the olive oil and red vinegar for our salad and of course olive oil for our wonderful home-made bread. I'm so glad we chose this place for those of us Americans who understand culinary cuisine.

Great first meal in Rome!…read more I loved my artichoke pasta dish with bacon, it was a daily special. The amaretto dessert was delicious! Carbonara was super al dente. Seafood risotto was fresh. Grilled radicchio was like stir fried. Dinner for 3 for 77 euros, impressively busy for a Tuesday night. Friendly staff, easy for English speakers. :)
