Located across the street from the beach are 6 pickleball courts (1 permanent, 5 non-permanent courts) where enthusiasts gather every Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 8a-noon for recreational play. There are no challenge courts; all courts are open play. Simply put your paddle up and wait to be called upon. This is a great place to learn with a various levels of pickleballers. Parking lot is small but there is plenty of street parking. Nice mellow beach with no waves. This area overlooks homes across the beach. People are paddle boarding as well as kayaking! Bayshore Playground is on the premises. Bathrooms are maintained which is a plus! No dogs, no bomb fires, no bbq's, and no smoking! Love this location! read more

Really great spot for open water swimming with the buoy lines to follow. Lots of triathletes and swimmers here during the weekend mornings so there's always people around. This is a great beach location at Belmont Shore for swimming and paddle boarding. It's super calm waters that you can take all around the bay, through Naples Island, or out to the ocean. The long stretch of sand is narrow and it will get crowded on the weekends and holidays, but during the weekdays, there's plenty of open space. There are a few life guard posts too, and further down there's a gondola & paddle board station to rent. It's also a very clean beach. It only feels like true "Horny Corner" on 4th of July when the corner is blocked off and a band plays in someone's porch to a beach crowd without the typical police interference. The other 364 days it just feels like Bayshore Beach, a calm part of Alamitos Bay that faces Naples Island, with the nearby Bayshore Playground and kayak rentals. It's the best place for kayaking on the west coast. 45 pounds ago, at my most fit and stupid, we rode just past the jetty, which was a workout as the water got choppier. Another bonus to this corner is that it is the location for many Dexter scenes. Alfredo's Kayak Cafe serves as "Papa's" tiki bar that Angel buys (S6:E7&8), where Dexter first met Rudy (S1:E11) and an angry Debra has lunch with Lundy (S2:10). It faces the tiny pier where Dexter planted some murder weapons (S2:10) and the beach where Mos Def's Brother Sam holds a baptism (S6:E4), and where Dexter later drowns someone (S6:E6). Lila buys drugs at the basketball court at Bayshore Playground (S2:E10). Debra's beach house (S6:E5) is the first house on the peninsula just south. This is an awesome little beach area protected within the harbor and perfect for the little kiddos or some easy water recreation. The water is very smooth here with no waves and the beach is much cleaner and less crowded than "Mother's Beach" down the road. They also have an awesome inflatable play area in the water that is super fun and monitored by life guards. The water in the bay here is a couple degrees warmer than the open ocean and it makes a difference. There is free parking nearby and a playground as well as kayak and sail boat rentals. The water is perfect for kayaking and standup paddle boarding, and there are open water swim lanes for dedicated swimmer workouts or training. This is definitely one of the best beach and swim areas for all ages! read more

i went to "horny corner" on a sunny afternoon to celebrate my birthday. it was a very friendly environment and a beautiful view as well! it wasn't too crowded for it being labor day weekend. i came for kayaking which i thought was worth it because it was only $10 per person/hour! which was a good deal. it's perfect outdoor activity and the price isn't bad at all. when we were done kayaking, we noticed someone in line with their dog.. and we asked the worker if you can bring your dog and they said "yes"! so if you want to bring your dog to kayak as well they will allow it! :) read more

LOL this place is kinda funny. I went here for 4th of July last year and it was basically Spring Break for people in their 20s! It lived up to its name also in terms of the attitude of some people there, haha! I will say that I bought some good food there, and there were some friendly people. I had the strange experience of a woman selling balloons walking up to me and asking me if I wanted to buy a balloon for my "daughter," who was actually a 15-year-old stranger (who looked nothing like me) standing in front of me in the bathroom line! I used to hang out here in college in the late 80's and 90's. While there are cooler placed to go to the beach (Sunset, Seal Beach, Huntington), it is definitely the best beach area for young people in Long Beach. They didn't call it Horny Corner for nothing. Today, I go there to rent kayaks or swim. $9 for an hour. To kayak to the moon jellies past marine stadium and back takes about 80 minutes at a regular pace. The beach also has basketball and handball courts nearby as well as a school to teach kids how to sail. If you cross the street, you're at the dog beach. Parking on the street can be difficult on the weekends. But there is paid parking a few yards down the street. read more

Very chill spot. Nice place to tan. Also, 4th of July gets crazy here! We usually try to secure our spot that day around 6am. Water is not clean, so probably do not recommend swimming in it, but every now and then on a hot ass day you kinda have to at least take a dip. read more

I think I should start off by saying we went on 4th of July, so the amount of people and the traffic was crazy! And of course going with a big group didn't make it better. After searching and finally finding a spot, we hoped in the water and it was okay.
