Really great spot for open water swimming with the buoy lines to follow. Lots of triathletes and swimmers here during the weekend mornings so there's always people around. Bathrooms are hit or miss but that's long beach for you. During the summer, pay attention to the street parking (closes at 9am on certain sides) but it seems to be seasonal. Just FYI

This is a great beach location at Belmont Shore for swimming and paddle boarding. It's super calm waters that you can take all around the bay, through Naples Island, or out to the ocean. The long stretch of sand is narrow and it will get crowded on the weekends and holidays, but during the weekdays, there's plenty of open space. There are a few life guard posts too, and further down there's a gondola & paddle board station to rent. It's also a very clean beach. Definitely the perfect spot to enjoy the ocean water without getting thrown about.

How did I now know of this beach? It's perfect to learn how to swim , to kayak and to paddle board. Come early to find parking.

I went to Horny Corner because of the funny name :). I parked on the street. There is a little beach and no waves, so I thought it was a great spot for little children. Then I found out it's a popular place for single AF and that's why the name

i went to "horny corner" on a sunny afternoon to celebrate my birthday. it was a very friendly environment and a beautiful view as well! it wasn't too crowded for it being labor day weekend. i came for kayaking which i thought was worth it because it was only $10 per person/hour! which was a good deal. it's perfect outdoor activity and the price isn't bad at all. when we were done kayaking, we noticed someone in line with their dog.. and we asked the worker if you can bring your dog and they said "yes"! so if you want to bring your dog to kayak as well they will allow it! :)

Very chill spot. Nice place to tan. Also, 4th of July gets crazy here! We usually try to secure our spot that day around 6am. Water is not clean, so probably do not recommend swimming in it, but every now and then on a hot ass day you kinda have to at least take a dip.

    Is this place dog friendly?

Yes, it is. Just ask the lifeguard on duty and it should be cool.

Still nice but with a major upgrade. It's part of the aquarium of the pacific just along the harbor. There's a parking lot that's part of it but the payment situations was a bit of a mess. Paying with credit card on the machine was a hit or miss. Which i also found out from someone else there. It's probably easy just to do it from your phone. It's a decent size parking lot but there's also parking at the structure just next to the aquarium. It's a cute rolling hill park that looks out to both the queen mary, shoreline village and the harbor. Depending on what side you are. It's a cute little walk around with the lighthouse on top. There's benches scattered throughout the park for seating. There's even a little beach like path along the harbor. Regardless which side you are, the view is quite beautiful. There's also fishing that you could do on the pier. You'll see people about and about walking, picnicking, walking with their dogs or a stroll. Long Beach has its hidden gems and this place was one of them.

Quieter, green grass (it'd be nice to bring a book here) away from the hustle and bustle. And the views are hard to beat, the Lighthouse, the shore with boats and Queen Mary in the near distance. Bring a snack, a drink, take a nice break here, a cool walk to explore the Shoreline Park. Always enjoyable!

The water is very calm, it's clean, and my kids love that there is a playground. There was a vendor walking around to sell floaties and we ended up getting a raft and the sticks for the raft for our kids. We did try to negotiate on the price but were only able to save a few bucks. I saw lifeguards walking back and forth often and it definitely made me feel safer to have the kids there. If you have young kids, I definitely say this is a great little beach to take your kiddos. Plenty of trash cans around and my kids gotta play with other kids. They didn't have to run super far with their bucket of water to make a sandcastle. Needless to say, we really liked this beach and definitely plan to come back. 2 thumbs up from this mom. Tips: *Parking lot available but you have to pay. *Free street parking. *Restroom available. *Lifeguard on site. * Vendors are always walking around (food, floaties). *There is a little playground with swings.

When you think of SoCal beaches, this is not quite the image one holds in mind. Yes, it is a beach…read more Yes, there it is right up against the Pacific Ocean. But, as it is link to the L.A. Harbor, it just does not give one that true feeling of Surf Lifestyle. There are really two parts of this beach. There is the North-Facing side that is lined by the San Pedro Cliffs. Cliffs that are quickly falling into the sea. On this side, you can view houses that are barely in place and teetering on the cliff. If it was me living there, I would be very nervous. On this side of the beach is the more open, majestic space of Cabrillo Beach. Here the waves freely crash on the shore and you are just a short walk from the tide pools of the marine reserve, which I highly recommend visiting. You just have to be careful of the homeless and those using drugs like Crack over in that section. Because I have seen a few scary situations unfold. The other part of Cabrillo Beach is where most people congregate. This section is in direct view of the the ships that travel in and out of the L.A. Harbor. This area holds the main swimming area that has a buoyed safety rope strung across the outside reaches of the swimming area. This is where most people swim and enjoy the water. Due to this area of the beach being enclosed by the harbor breakwater, there are virtually no waves in this section. The water seems much more stagnate here. Thus, you really miss the feeling of the natural flowing ocean. Overall, though perhaps not the beauty one expects from the SoCal Oceanside, this is a unique contribution to the California Coastline.
