This park has a long sidewalk and some benches and an amazing view of the ocean and park down below. This is a very nice place to take a long walk. There was also a nice breeze, which made it very pleasant.

Spent a lovely morning with my friend strolling through Bluff Park with the doggies. Some people were walking their dogs, others just finishing their run with what looked to be a little run club. We had our coffee in one hand and the dogs in another on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. It wasn't too busy at the time that we were there which was nice. I will say we were approached uncomfortably by someone there. We had to pause our beautiful walk until the person walked away, so definitely keep an eye out for that. Just with any place, keep your eyes peeled always. Loved that we were able to stroll along the coastline though!

Nice place to walk down the coast without having to go down to the actual sand itself. Plenty of cement benches along the way to sit down and rest.

Bluff Park is a greenspace on the south side of Ocean Blvd between the museum on the west and 36th Place on the east, with sidewalks around the perimeter. Bluff Park is a great place to walk, jog, run, bicycle, skate, meditate, do yoga, play, sunbathe, people watch, picnic and relax. Owners of radio controlled planes sometimes fly their planes there, taking advantage of the updrafts caused by onshore winds hitting the bluff. There are some excellent views of the ocean and the bike path below from the bluff, and visitors can take some awesome pictures here. Parking can be found along Ocean Blvd, but it's limited. Parking can also be found in the neighborhood to the north, or the parking lot down below the bluffs, but you'll have to walk up.

Hello! See you on the Bluff Park path! @ojbaylen

One of my favorite spots to take a relaxing walk parallel to the beach. The cool breeze and views makes it breath-taking. You'll see people flying their small drone planes, it's dog-friendly and other people doing workouts on the grass. See you at the Bluff Park sidewalk trails. It also has several access points via stairs to go down below at the bike path/pedestrian path on the beach!

This park is the place to be at! Yoga on the bluff, park down by the beach, ride the bikes with the kids, walk, jog, run, workout... everything you need under the sun. There are even lemonade stands and a fitness instructor down here! Oh...don't forget the ice cream trucks...especially the Batman truck! Bring your water bottle, snacks, protein shake, beach gear and don't forget to pay for parking...I was lucky today...but who knows? Got so occupied with putting my kid's helmet and gears on that we rushed off without paying. But you can park for free by residential area. Just walk down the steps and make that your workout...go back up a few times...whew! Your legs will burn!

February 17, 2021 Quite unintentionally, sitting by the Bluff Park path again on Ash Wednesday. The California poppies are starting to make their appearance.

Bluff Park is a gem in Long Beach. High above the water with a great walkway and dramatic views of the Queen Mary and ports. There is a nice wide green space to hang out in and usually some flowers are in bloom on the other side of the railing at the top of the cliff. Lots of people are out walking dogs and there are plenty of trash cans along the way so no reason to litter! Ever! Please keep our earth clean.

Bluff Park is the narrow strip of land between Ocean Boulevard and the vertical cliffs (bluff) that drop down to the beach and ocean, and roughly Junipero Avenue and Loma Avenue to the north and south. It was slowly donated to the city in parcels beginning in 1919, with the final piece purchased in 1984. Today it comprises 13.2 acres in what many consider the nicest part of Long Beach, CA. The neighborhood in which it marked the western boundary is likewise called Bluff Park Heights. The housing stock between Broadway and Ocean Boulevard contains most of the most beautiful architecture in the city. The park is for passive use - walking, biking, picnicking, and even yoga classes most mornings. Plenty of leashed dogs there, too. Given the great weather, it is also a place where homeless people congregate due to the lack of public programs that address this human misery. Still, it is a terrific asset for the city and its residents to be able to use this open space for their well being.

I usually bike past this park, but used it for a workout and wow, it really has everything. I love the grass park off ocean, several sets of stairs down to the ocean, plenty of beach that it never feels crowded, both a biking and walking path, volleyball courts, and convenient restrooms that were decent by park standards. Located in a beautiful part of Long Beach, this is a fantastic place to come relax, enjoy the beach, or get a great workout in. The views here are wonderful too. Overall, it is a very well maintained area.

A hidden gem in plain sight. A little close to traffic at some parts but a great place to have picnic and have Thai Curry Pizza (see my review). Ocean view and breeze, plenty of parking and nice views of architecture of fancy residences

Bluff park is located on Ocean Avenue, and is uphill to the beach and sand. Parking is free here, and there is usually ample spots available. Though I usually park across the street, because the sidewalk lining the park is higher than usual and makes it hard for my passengers to exit. The park is narrow and long, has plenty of open green space, and benches every few hundred meters. There are stairways that lead to the beach below, which is about 30 feet lower in elevation. Night time provides a romantic spot to bring you significant other. I have come here before during dates, and it was pretty nice and uncrowded. Just no funny business, as Long Beach PD patrols often. I have not come across too many bad characters here, just chill beach goers getting away from the stress of LA county and the daily grind.

Still nice but with a major upgrade. It's part of the aquarium of the pacific just along the harbor. There's a parking lot that's part of it but the payment situations was a bit of a mess. Paying with credit card on the machine was a hit or miss. Which i also found out from someone else there. It's probably easy just to do it from your phone. It's a decent size parking lot but there's also parking at the structure just next to the aquarium. It's a cute rolling hill park that looks out to both the queen mary, shoreline village and the harbor. Depending on what side you are. It's a cute little walk around with the lighthouse on top. There's benches scattered throughout the park for seating. There's even a little beach like path along the harbor. Regardless which side you are, the view is quite beautiful. There's also fishing that you could do on the pier. You'll see people about and about walking, picnicking, walking with their dogs or a stroll. Assuming this is all part of the Drake Park proper, but it took a little intuition to find the entrance for our first visit. And still, the parking lot is small, filled with litter, human waste, and lots of broken auto glass... And it's about a 200 yard walk to the entrance of the artificial turf soccer field. Much of the human detritus in the parking lot is likely attributed to the considerable homeless population that is evident in the immediate area: dozens of people were camped out just across the street, in the dirt lot area adjacent to the river channel. That same dirt lot is variably covered with piles of demolition construction materials haphazardly dumped by who knows who? In pure defiance of posted signs prohibiting dumping. Other "unhoused Angelinos" seem to be wandering about the park, utilizing senses beyond my standard five (sight, smell, taste, hearing, and feeling) to experience things I can only imagine.... and a couple had set up camp in the park's landscaping adjacent to the walking path. Not so much unsafe as much as unsanitary This part of the park features what appears to be some kind of community garden - - locked and secured behind 10 foot chain-link fences. there is a public park restroom with only 2 of the 8 single seater stalls unlocked, and both are horrific inside. Some beautiful wall murals are marred by tagging. Much of the park here is adjacent to industrial yards, and most of the bordering landscape is littered with garbage. The soccer field is actually quite beautiful: artificial turf field with a perimeter fence. I laughed a little bit at the idea that this was a "green belt" and the soccer field was artificial turf... But there is certainly some actual real grass field in this park, and some California native plants along the periphery. So I guess that counts in the midst of This residential-industrial interface. The air was pretty heavy with the smell of oil refinery and low tide from the nearby river channel, which was probably a bigger deal to the soccer players than it was to me as a spectator. A generous three stars for the really nice soccer field and the fact that my truck windows weren't added to the considerable collection of broken auto window glass on the ground in the parking lot. My only other Long Beach Park frame of reference is Bluff Park, so I can confidently say this is nicer.... relative, though, that comparison is...

I walked into a space that is smaller than some larger Japanese gardens, but the layout feels carefully planned with winding paths, traditional landscaping, a koi pond, waterfalls, bridges, and quiet corners throughout. It is the type of place where taking your time matters more than trying to see everything quickly, and the smaller size actually makes the experience feel more intimate. The garden feels like a world apart from the campus surrounding it, and the transition from the university grounds to the garden is immediate and effective. The koi pond is easily the centerpiece of the garden and one of the most enjoyable parts to spend time around. I found myself lingering by the water, watching the fish move through the pond as the sunlight filtered through the trees. The fish are large and active, and the surrounding greenery, stone features, and water elements create a very relaxing atmosphere. The garden does a good job balancing natural scenery with traditional Japanese design, with each section offering a slightly different view and feeling as I walked through. The bridges and stone lanterns add to the sense of place, and the sound of the waterfalls creates a calming background that stays with you as you move through the space. What I liked most about this garden is how calm it feels despite being located on a college campus. It feels separated from the surrounding area once you enter, making it a nice place for a quiet walk, photography, or just taking a break. The landscaping is well maintained, and the entire space has a slower pace that encourages you to actually stop and appreciate the details rather than rushing through. The garden's design rewards a slow approach, with each turn in the path offering a slightly different perspective on the pond, the plants, and the stonework. The visit is fairly quick since the garden is compact, but it works well as a relaxing stop rather than a destination that takes up an entire afternoon. Reservations are required, so it is worth checking availability before going. Admission is free, although parking is an extra cost and can be the main inconvenience, especially during busy campus hours. The garden's location on campus makes it accessible, but the parking situation can require a bit of patience. Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden is a beautiful spot if you are looking for a peaceful escape rather than a large attraction. The koi pond, thoughtful design, and quiet atmosphere make it a place worth visiting, especially on a nice day when you can take your time walking through the garden. It offers a brief but meaningful pause from the surrounding city and campus life, and the care that has gone into maintaining the space is evident in every corner.

It was my first time at Whaley Park, and I did not realize how much there was to enjoy until I walked around. I appreciated how easy it was to relax there without feeling rushed or crowded, even with all the teens playing games, taking photos, and talking with each other. Some parts of the park looked a little older or worn down, which is part of why I am giving it four stars instead of five, but nothing took away from the overall experience. I never doubted that the visit would turn out the way I hoped it would. I have only visited Whaley Park once before writing this review, but it ended up being one of the more enjoyable and energetic parks I have been to in a long time.
