Love this park and prioritize seeing at least 2 sunsets a week from this viewpoint. On a clear day, you can see the islands off shore, the port, San Pedro, mountains behind Hollywood, downtown LA, and mountains in the distance to the east. This 270 view is one of the best spots for a picnic, dessert after dinner, and share a sunset with someone special.

Took an out of town friend here so he can have a look of Long Beach. The views of the ocean, San Pedro, LBG or airport, the city was fantastic. The walk is not that long but with details of flowers, trees, and others. They also have benches for you just sit relax, recharge or/and enjoy the views.

I didn't get a photo of the view but here is a photo of my cat

I won't lie, it had been so long since I had been to Hilltop Park, I forgot that it existed lol. From what I remember, coming here always meant struggling to find parking and there being a lot of people over at the park but not this time. I was lucky enough to get here about twenty minutes before sunset and there was so much parking and not that many people here. Just the way I like it :) The view was gorgeous btw, and the sky was actually really clear, almost a little too clear considering the string of wildfires that have taken place in recent days. You could see all the way to Santa Monica, a phenomenal view and even prettier at night with all of the lights. Also, I love seeing how clean the place is kept. It makes me want to come back more often to watch the sunset or to ponder after a long day.

Such a beautiful view of the coast, Long beach, and the rest of LA county. There are bathrooms (although not the cleanest), gazebo covered tables with grills, shade from trees, and a landscaped area to enjoy the view from the cement benches or take a closer look through the 25 cent mounted telescopes. Even on a hot sunny day, the cool ocean breeze feels very nice and refreshing. Definitely a great spot to have a picnic or just take in the fresh air with a breathtaking view.

Wow! Such a beautiful spot in Long Beach. I came on a Sunday to listen to oldies with my lover (thank you to my friend on TikTok who comes out almost every week!) Such a great spot to eat dinner and watch the sunset. They usually have an icecream truck here too if you're craving anything sweet or something spicy like Cheetos

Gorg view! I park at the Home Depot and walk up. People picnic at sunsets and most Sundays between 5-8pm, there's a guy who brings his portable DJ setup and takes song requests. Can get crowded and really hard to find parking up top, so I definitely recommend getting there some hours early or just sucking it up and walking 5 min

Beautiful views after the 3 days rain. Fresh air cleaning the smog away to see everything far and near.

Great views, clean restrooms! Parking can be rough, but it's a good stop to chill or bring folk by when they're in town on vacation.

Great place to hang out.......for date or workout. Been coming here for years and it my fav. I try to go a lot to see sunset

Beautiful park on a hilltop, hence the name Hilltop Park. Located right outside Long Beach. It's beautiful! You can drive up, bike up, walk or run up the hill. Great exercise! The view of the city is stunning! You can see Long Beach airport and the ocean. Just gorgeous!

Drive to the top of the hill and you'll see an amazing views (especially on a clear day). The weather has been foggy this week but you can usually see views from the city to the sea. Enjoy the sunset with a panoramic walk - access is at the end of the road. Perfect for date night or an after dinner walk. Bring a jacket, the wind makes it a bit chilly these days. They have a few picnic tables but you can also bring your own blanket to have a picnic

We got ice cream from the truck nearby.

This park holds somewhat of a special place in my life, and I had the opportunity to revisit it again. Backstory: During the start of the pandemic back in 2020, I used to work in Signal Hill and was feeling miserable at my job because of the toxic environment. At the same time, I was living alone near Downtown Long Beach and was going through an agonizing separation from a relationship that was disintegrating. Hilltop Park was my escape and therapy to get away from the things that were happening in my personal life. Just looking at the breathtaking view of the city and the beach from afar was just enough to help me feel better. The great thing about this park is definitely the view, which you can also see in a better spotlight if you use the park telescopes. I can see why many people visit this park every day, although I'm not sure if the local residents around the area quite enjoy it, haha. On occasion, there are sometimes ice cream and food trucks that are next to the park to accommodate hungry visitors. Even though I'm currently living farther away from Hilltop Park, I hope to return soon to enjoy the scenery once more.

    Does it have bbq pits?

The garden features a large pond filled with koi, including around 30 big koi and what looks like hundreds of smaller ones they are raising. They allow up to six people per reservation, and they typically do not take walk-ins, so plan ahead before coming. The garden itself is on the smaller side, and the walking path takes about 15 minutes at a casual pace. Still, there are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the surroundings. You will find charming bridges, small waterfalls, lily pads throughout the pond, and even a little Zen garden area. Even though it is compact, the peaceful atmosphere and the well-kept grounds make it a great visit. I highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area and want a quiet, refreshing escape.

It surprised me how naturally the park gave off that youthful atmosphere without trying too hard. The open spaces and colorful areas almost felt like spots made for taking pictures, and they did not cost anything to enjoy, which makes them perfect for teenagers who like hanging out and being creative. It was my first time at Whaley Park, and I did not realize how much there was to enjoy until I walked around. I appreciated how easy it was to relax there without feeling rushed or crowded, even with all the teens playing games, taking photos, and talking with each other. Some parts of the park looked a little older or worn down, which is part of why I am giving it four stars instead of five, but nothing took away from the overall experience. I never doubted that the visit would turn out the way I hoped it would. I have only visited Whaley Park once before writing this review, but it ended up being one of the more enjoyable and energetic parks I have been to in a long time. I would highly recommend that teenagers go there because they would love the open spaces, the sports areas, the photo spots, and the creative vibe. It gives them a place to have fun, take pictures, and feel inspired in a simple and playful environment.
