Been here a couple of times. The first time with a large group of kids on a nature trip. The second, with the family. The beach is fairly clean, no huge crowds, a small lot for parking but found space with no problem. We received a tour, a presentation on marine life and had a history lesson an out the surrounding area. The staff was really cool and helpful.

Easy to find parking! Less crowds and fewer people. Nice spot to set up an umbrella and relax.

The beach is nice, has a private parking lot.. but it's worth noting that you need to pay at the meter (register your license plate) for how many hours you want to be there. It's an easy to miss pay sign unless you researched it beforehand. I came when it was very windy so there was a lot of people with kites or were wind surfing! The sand is coarse due to pieces of shells. The walk from the cars to the sea however is also super long!! So much sand. Lol! It was quite tough so if you struggle walking a lot on sand (have ADA guests), keep that in mind! Especially if you are hauling items. The parking lot also reeked of toilet remains smell but that's because the bathrooms are right next to the lot Back to the sand, there are also sharp bits of shell in the sand, so with that experience and the paid parking, I'd have to give a 4 stars. A beach trip is always worth the visit in the summer though! I liked the amount of lifeguards stationed and actively watching, the cleanliness of the sand (no trash scattered), & the proximity of the bathrooms.

No seal spotting, sadly, but a lovely stroll on a Thursday night. Free parking at the beach lot, just south of the big peer. Some surfers, a few toddlers with parents, and a handful of teens smoking weed in their cars so it did smell like weed for part of the visit, but mostly like sea air.

My dad always brought me here when I was young. Now that I am a parent, I also do the same thing with my girls. 4/15/23 beach day with the family. A tad bit windy and on the cooler side but the girls had fun with the sand and playground.

Less crowded on a Tuesday afternoon and most shops were opened. I didn't want to pay for the parking nearby the beach so I parked my car in Seal Beach Center to get my massage at Yongping's Massage & Spa and then walked towards Main Street, stopped by red car museum and the Seal Beach Municipal Pier. The old town neighborhood was quiet and it was so nice to sense the breeze of ocean.

What's there to say but have a great day walking around, getting ice cream, buying gifts, sunbathing on the beach (water is warm right now), and enjoying the views from the pier. Amazing choice for an amazing day.

This sunset at seal beach was breathtaking. So was the smell of the porta-potties outside the parking lot.

Had to walk down Main Street and go window shopping before walking down the long stretch of pier. It's definitely one of the longest piers I've walked on. There were quite a few people walking on the pier, even though there are no shops or restaurants on it. What you do get is a great view of the water and ships on both sides, along with the occasional person fishing off the pier. It's a pretty nice beach to enjoy the day with the family. There's even a small playground, and the restrooms are well maintained. There is free two hour street parking down Main Street. It's Orange County, so 50% of the people walking around aren't wearing masks (during covid).

My friend, who's lives out in LA, took me here. For starters, parking was no big deal to find. It's paid parking, but still accessible. The area is great for the boardwalk, but also boasts some cool little shops, cafes and restaurants. It's definitely a spot you can spend several hours at. We loved seeing the sunset from the end of the boardwalk.

Needed a great place to watch the sunset as a tourist and this was perfect. Can be a little crowded but overall clean and relaxing.

Ask the Community - Seal Beach

Does this Beach have fire pits?

    No, not at Seal beach.

Is this a good beach for boogie boarding?

    No. Not near any water.

Can we bbq at this beach?

I don't believe so. They don't have fire pits. Bolsa Chica has fire pits though

    Are fire pits allowed?

    Probably not

    Are there bathrooms?

Yes! Nice bathrooms too. Both male and female. The bathrooms are next to the playground and a very short walk from the beach.

Are there fire pits here, or is it ok to have fires on the beach?

There are not any fire pits

Does this beach have fire pits?

    No it does not

    How much is parking?

If I remember it correctly, per hour is $2, the whole day flat rate is $10.

    Can you bbq?

Nope. At least not on the beach

Do any one know if we can bring a small table size barbque pit and a vball net to the beach?

    No cannot

    Do they have vball nets?

Yes, but only a few of them. Nothing like Huntington Beach!

    How clean is the water?

The water is very clean most of the year, more so than other beaches near bigger citys. Of course stormy days can cause some churning and make things a bit murky. For the better water conditions stay closer to the pier or to the left of the pier… Read more

Lost my GoPro hero 5 session with a head strap I have important vids of my children on that. Has anyone came across it yet? =(

    No.

Does this beach have fire pits?

No fire pits here but if you head south a mile or so down Pacific Coast Highway to Sunset Beach there are beach fire pits available at the state campground. An entrance fee applies for the state beach campground.

    Is a small grill allowed?

The typical answer would be no. Seal Beach has a lot of rules in order to keep it as clean and well maintained as it is. Here is what the city code says on BBQs:… Read more

The construction over by Orlena Ave is a big bummer, as it prevents us from completing the trail loop. We just walk from Appian Way up the lagoon crossway, north on the path until we hit 6th St., then turn around. From there, one could take a left on 6th St., then a right on Federation Drive to extend the walk, but it's still not a loop. Regardless, it is a nice area and the view of the water along the path is a peaceful sight. The sandy beach of the lagoon has always been populated with lively children and teens in the water when we've gone, so that spot in particular is not so peaceful. Also, if you're taking your dog, we've seen a man twice with three huge, off-leash dogs on the corner of 6th St. and Monrovia Ave that take over that whole grassy area, so beware of that. Otherwise, there's sometimes a group doing yoga there.
