Someone was out to my house on Saturday. They determined that something was wrong with my heater and they had to order a part. It is now Monday. I have not heard from the company as to when they are going to fix my heater. We have no heat. Their website says that they have emergency service and that it's same-day diagnosis and next day repairs. If Sunday is an exception because it isa weekend, then I guess they should've been here today, Monday. Never heard from them and they never sent anybody out. I had to call them to get the report that the guy that they sent out to diagnose the problem is who they want to send out for the repair. Lucky me, that person was off today, and I would have never known this unless I called them. I don't know anyone who used them. I was impressed by the commercials. Never again. This company doesn't care. Period!! read more

Will never recommend or use Horizon Services. We called Horizon Services to get a quote of a replacement water heater, firstly they charge a call out fee just to give a quote. No one else did who gave us a quote. Secondly, he then went on to try and sell me some maintenance plan for my furnace/water heater - which will lower the installation cost of my water heater by $700 ! It was a total rip off. If I don't buy the maint plan I would have to pay $700 more just for a water heater to be installed. read more

SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME. BELIEVE REVIEWS HERE. THESE GUYS ARE BAD! Note: this is for service in Perkasie, PA. made a mistake falling for their '$59 heater tune up' ad. It shouldn't be called a 'tune up' in the first place because it's really not. The guy showed up and I told him return air is not any hotter than the room temperature (blowing cold air). Without even measuring the return air temperature he says I've a dirty coil and costs $400 to clean (basically brush it). Then I said I think there might be other issues. Then he goes back to the car and brings refrigerant gauges and measures refrigerant on outside unit (which you would think should've done before he even says anything since this is a common thing) and says I've a leak and whole unit (a 4 year old system) needs to be changed. And then he tells me I went to the 'Mercedes dealer when I should've gone to a Kia dealer', of course metaphorically telling me Horizon is a premium, high cost servicer. Also, he gets easily unnerved by questions I ask. At the end of the day, I was out $59 for him to tell me I need to change whole unit, which he said could cost me up to $17K. Yeah, a complete waste of time and money. SAVE YOURSELF, BELIEVE THE REVIEWS HERE. read more

This company never ceases to disappoint. I have a service contract with them for my boiler. I just paid about $14k last winter to have it installed. Horizon handled it. I just called for my annual service for the boiler. The soonest they can come out is late February 2017!!! So essentially at the tail end of winter. The whole point of a tune up prior to the big chill is to make sure everything runs right over the winter. Talk about lousy service. read more

They talk a good game, but don't follow through. Our heater is 4 years old. It stopped working on Saturday. We called for service. They couldn't get to us until the next day at 12:00. Today (2 days later) the heater stopped working again and again they can't get here until tomorrow morning. It is going to be 22 degrees tonight and I have a 2 year old. They advertise that they are available 24/7 and that is just NOT true! So disappointed. read more

Had a clog in sewer line. First time in 25 years. I always believed I had a cast iron sewer line. Called Horizon Services mostly because of the 99 dollar special. Before I complain, all techs and staff that you speak to or meet are very nice and professional. Smooth talkers too. First clean out went well using snake with a very small non auger type tip. Got some flow and I thought everything went well but the tech said I had a broken pipe saying that it was not cast iron but an older type of brittle pipe and I also had roots in the line. (No tree near pipe). Next day, backed up. Called again for the problem. Same tech came out and plunged the clean out pipe clearing the trap. He said I had good flow but I was going to continue having this problem because of roots and broken pipe. He then ordered a camera inspection which was free. Camera guy came out and I thought he was very informative. He began the process and I looked at the screen. NO broken pipe. No roots. But still clogged. Camera tech said I had an old cast iron pipe which needed to be replaced. Quoted me at 17,000.00 to line burst the pipe and pull insert through the line. After I told him price was too high for me, he lowered it saying he made a mistake. New price was 12,000.00 which could be financed. Bugged, I called Horizon again and scheduled another clean out because camera revealed no broken pipe, no roots, cast iron pipe, and still clogged. Tech came out, snaked again. One day later, still clogged. When I called Horizon and complained, I was sent to the Plumbing manager. After a discussion, he finally said they could not do the job. So, I called a reputable plumber in the area. He came out with a snake and used a 2 inch auger with blades. He then resnaked the line with a 3 inch bladed auger. He even clear the trap and pipe to the street. LINE CLEARED. Lesson? Spend the money for a good plumber and a good clean out. I believe Horizon Services sets you up for the big ticket. Saw some earlier reviews about this as well. I later found out that the techs get a commission on big ticket jobs, but Horizon denies it. When they read this, they will message saying they will follow up to learn more about my circumstances. What else is there to learn? read more

Absolute Horrible Experience First they came out and charged me $79.00 to "diagnose" the problem. Diagnose my butt, I actually told them what the problem was and they still charged me. They did nothing to test and see what the problem. Second they tried to change me $800.00 to actually fix the problem. I knew that it did not cost that much. So a called around and it cost me less than half to resolve the issue. Thanks Bill Davis Plumbing and Heating. read more

The company I work for put me in charge of hiring this years vendors for services we needed in the building. I hired painters, carpet cleaners and I needed a HVAC service. I called Horizon and scheduled a technician to come out and service our AC system. It was acting a little funny? He showed up on time, fixed the problem and cleaned up his trash when he left. AC works well now, some employees complain its too cold now! Go figure....anyway Horizon provided excellent service and would use them again. read more

Before you call Horizon, know that you aren't calling a plumber but a sales person. They aren't coming to your house to fix a pipe. They are coming out to up sell you on products you don't want. Their pricing is outrageous and unreasonable. I had a small section of piping that needed to be replaced. About an hour's worth of work. The tech quoted me over 900 dollars. But if I sign up for a "service plan", I get a discount that makes the plan pay for itself and I would only have to pay $850. I told him this price was outrageous and told him that I felt $200 was more fair. After a call to his manager, he was able to drop the price to $550. This tells me he was already over charging me by $300. I asked him to leave my house. I called another licensed plumber in the area (Dormann's Plumbing in Mickelton) and they came out and did the exact same work for $196.34. Unless you are dying to throw away money, I would avoid Horizon. read more

I signed up to become a "partner" for HVAC after having an emergency plumbing situation handled well, although it was expensive. This meant that I would have three visits for maintenance check-up on my heat pumps. One is brand new and one is a 12 year old Trane. The company that sold me the Trane was absorbed into a larger company and they were difficult to schedule, so I figured why not give Horizon a try. During previous maintenance with Wesley Wood and before that Air Experts there were very little additional costs beyond what was paid for as part of the agreement. My expectations were similar and was surprised that he would come back with expensive recommendations on what was a fine functioning heat pump. He strongly suggested that I have a capacitor and a contact replaced because of wear he saw saying that I would be averting breakdowns. It cost $ 587 extra for those parts and to replace the filters. I kind of felt like it used to feel when I was at Jiffy Lube and they were trying to upsell all of these additional services, that I would say no to. I do understand that I could have said no to these also and should have, but I do believe in maintaining important, expensive machines well; similar to maintaining my cars. In fact, he did compare it to a car. He would point out that if they came out when there was an actual breakdown it would cost significantly more. In retrospect I should have said no to the preemptive precautionary "repairs" and feel regret for not doing so. One of the things he said was that the Trane normal life was 10 to 12 years which severely undermines his credibility and should have made it clear that he was simply trying to sell fear rather than what was best for me. Live and learn. Never again. read more

Estimate of heating system / central air NOT HONORED! Met with Horizon services sales person on 6/2/2014 who explained three replacement options for my 16 year old central airconditing system. Two weeks later attempted to accept estimate and was told it would be an additional $3600 for a new damper even though the quote stated " Includes replacement of 2 zone actuator" and that one of the rebates of $850 are now unavailable. Seems like it is a hot week and business must be good. I have had my current 16 yr old unit serviced yearly with Horizon, this year in May they said my current unit was fully charged and in good running order. Two weeks later unit started freezing up, called Horizon out and was charged $300 for 2lbs of refrigerant and set up appt for free sales call to discuss replacement options and the above service is what I received. Not a good example of how to do business! read more

I wish yelp had 0 stars for the review. Horizon deserves 0 star. I requested for Horizon services for A/C is not working. They dint send service repair man, they send a sales guy. Initially, the guy showed no interest in looking into A/C. He was checking the Heating system and Water heater. He was just a fear monger, said the heating system is hazardous, Even before he started looking at A/C he gave me a big quote to replace the heating system. After a while he looked at the A/C and he said there may be leak in my AC. I asked him to check and confirm is there is a leak. He gave me another quote of about $300.00 to check if there is a leak. Is this not why I am paying the diagnosis fee ? On top of that, he gave me a quote of about $250(no warranty) to fill the gas. At this point, I decided to cut my losses and not use their services. Most funny part, is before leaving there will somebody from Horizon services will come to my home to "second opinion". Yeah right, if I want a second opinion why would I need for another "Horizon" salesman? I called to another service company, they checked for both AC and Heating system for about 30% of Horizon's quote. After all, there was no leak. Never Horizon guys, again!!! read more

I am over 65 and live in an over 55 community. My sump pump in the basement failed. I called and received a prompt sales call from Horizon. I showed the salesman, whose name i will not divulge, the pump that failed. He did not check out anything! He quickly said that I needed a whole new main and backup system at a cost of $1,200 plus tax. I replied that i just needed one pump installed, not a whole system. He advised that it was a "company" policy he could not vary from. I escorted him out. I called my old, retired plumber friend. We easily purchased identical replacement pumps for both the main and backup. (My friend said that pump failed too). Total cost for the two pumps: $255.00 plus $30.00 for a large wrench from Sears Lessons to learn: Older folks may be taken advantage of. Enlist friends to help you DIY. In April of 2014 I moved into a new home and was told by the previous owners that they had a service contract with Horizon. I called to have them come out in May of 2015 to check my AC; the unit was functioning (installed in 2012) but the fan seemed to be turning on and off even when it was in the "on" position. I have a family member with a plumbing/HVAC business who normally does all of my work but as I thought I had a service contract inherited from the previous homeowners and my family member was busy on an out-of-town job; I thought I'd give Horizon a try. The Horizon technician who came to troubleshoot wrote me up a two page estimate including everything from a cracked heat exchanger on my furnace ($2,900.00), a blower motor capacitor and a dual capacitor (both over $350.00). Nothing was fixed during the visit and I was told that another tech would need to come back and "take a second look" after my frozen AC coil defrosted. For this I paid $99.00. As the tech was on his way out, I told him that my family member who has his own plumbing/HVAC business would be coming to give me a second opinion. The tech seemed surprised to hear that and left telling me that someone would be calling me that afternoon to schedule the follow up appointment. I did not receive a call for a follow up appointment. Two days later I had my second opinion from my very qualified family member. There is no crack in my heat exchanger and neither of the other items mentioned for replacement needed to be replaced. The problem was a loose connection in my thermostat; something that the tech from Horizon did not even bother to check. My AC unit is running fine and fixing the thermostat problem took less than 10 minutes. Those of you who read this should know that I am not someone who posts things to Yelp; if I have a bad meal, I just don't go back to the restaurant. I'm posting this because I believe that this company takes advantage of people who don't know any better. Yes they were on-time, yes they wear orange booties on their feet. But I do not believe that the tech who came to my home to "troubleshoot" my issue had any intention of fixing anything but came to set me up for a sales pitch to purchase new parts that I didn't need. Fortunately in my case; I had another avenue to go to whom I trust. Not everyone is as lucky as I am. Do yourself a favor and take the time to get a second opinion before you commit to Horizon; unless you have a serious emergency, it's well worth it. read more

I came home to find that Horizon had completely ripped off my wife, charging us $1000 to replace a bathroom faucet, P-trap and shutoff valve. They also badly burned the wall under the sink while doing the repair. After complaining to their customer service, they came back out to repair the wall and did a nice job. But I would never use them again based on price alone. A two hour job with material costs around $100 should not cost $1000. I lost my A/C on a Fri. evening at the start of an 8 day heat wave. My regular heat pump service company (Stanley Cooper in Willow Grove, PA) charges a "premium" for Sat. service (if a tech is even available, and you MUST have a yearly service contract for $1000.00 to qualify for Sat. service and "priority" scheduling. I had dropped the service contract-$1000.00 is TOO MUCH to pay for two maintenance visits/year and "priority" service.). My Mom had used Horizon and was happy with the service she received. More importantly, the website advertised "speedy service for midsummer emergencies" so I called the telephone number that came up when I Googled "Horizon home services". "Speedy, emergency service" turned out to be the following Tuesday afternoon-4 full days (and nights) of 95-100 degree temps. w/ a heat index of 105 degrees! In hindsight, I don't know if the switchboards are for all Horizons or if I could have tried another number. I have a 105 lb. Newfoundland dog so going elsewhere was not really an option-those were 4 VERY LONG, HOT days. Steve C. arrived on time, very friendly, knowledgeable, etc. Diagnosed the problem quickly and I was very impressed that the part was available on his truck. One drawback-not just a tech, also a sales person. "If you sign up for this package, I can give you this percentage off blah blah... Steve replaced the part (capacitor) on the outside unit with no trouble. I also needed a new condensation pump on the inside unit (which I knew prior to the breakdown of the unit) so Steve asked if I wanted him to replace it while he was already at my house. Again, he had the part available so I agreed. He stated that he would also have to replace the clear plastic tubing between the pump and the main heat pump unit and I agreed that it was obviously necessary. The clear, flexible tubing was a nasty dark brown, hard as a rock (not at all flexible) and there was nasty goop inside of the tubing. Steve completed both repairs-replaced two parts-I ended up purchasing a maintenance package for two years, Steve reviewed the paperwork etc. and handed me a card explaining that it was info. to go to a website to review my experience w/ Steve personally. I questioned if it affected him directly as far as pay increases etc. to determine if it was worth my time. He affirmed that responses affected him directly. I put the card aside... THIS REVIEW SEEMS IRRELEVANT, I'M SURE, UP TO THIS POINT. Two days later, I had to go into my utility room where the heat pump is located. It was then that I noticed that the NASTY, OLD, DISGUSTING (NO LONGER CLEAR) PLASTIC TUBING WAS CONNECTED TO MY BRAND NEW CONDENSATION PUMP!! Steve never replaced the tubing and then made a point of asking me to review his work-how stupid! When I went online to write the review, I saw all of the terrible reviews/experiences so I went to the BBB page-WOW!! I'm very sorry that I got sucked into the maintenance package. Steve supposedly did the A/C maintenance during the repair but in the past it's taken about 45 min. and he was only here for 45 min. installing parts! read more

By far the worst company to call for heater repair. They will rip you apart. Heater stopped working around 7pm and all local companies were closed by then so called horizon. Also, one friend recommend it. They came in about 2.5 hours. The guys tells me that he will replace the small ignition switch and it will fix it. I asked him I want to keep the box of the new ignition that he is installing. He was too hesitant to give it to me and in next few minutes he put that in his car, i asked again and he said he forgot and will give it in end and once payment done in full he tried to sneak out but i asked again and got the cover of ignition switch. I research and found out that it costs $20 for that and they charge me $650 for that. Called them and they tells me everytime that someone will call me back and no one did. Learned the lesson.. I'd ACTUALLY like to give no stars as our experience with this company was awful! We called them in the afternoon and explained we had drained our main sewer line already that we have had trouble in the past with this line and we believed it was really clogged this time. I was asked if we had used them in the past and I said no. (At this point you would think if they had a policy this was be a time that would be discussed). They said we can't get to you until 6-10pm. Please keep in mind this was approx 2pm in the afternoon. I said great! They arrived at my house around 7:30pm, promptly told us they could not help us because we had already began to do the repair our self. They leave I call back the company and ask why I was not informed of this policy before they wasted my time and their workers time by not asking me if we had began work? She asked me to hold and came to the line... She had the nerve to say "I have to talked to the technicians and I have them on the line they can speak with you and explain the policy" I told her no I understand the policy and my issue is not with the technicians. My problem is with the call center. We not been able to use our water since the night before and now they have wasted yet another day because they have failed to explain company policy! She says"Your situation is unique." I said well that's real funny because your technician just told us he had another customer just today with the same issue!" So then of course it was I'm not required to ask you that question!!!!!! UNFREKIN REAL!!!!!!!!! Now she did offer in the end to give my name and number to a supervisor to contact me the next today. I told her no thank you I think I will just find every place I can leave a review and insure others are aware of your policy since you and your company "ARE NOT REQUIRED TO ASK." By the way the technicians informed us they are not allowed to work on any pluming anyone else has worked on per their policy! So if you would like to use them for goodness sake if you have had work done in the past by another company KEEP IT TO YOURSELF! read more

Run don' t walk away from this company! I was a service mark client for many years and decided to stay with Horizon to see how things went. The first time a Horizon tech came out to tune up my system he found something that needed to be fixed. I let it go without question. The next year a rep came out, arrived at 9:40 spent 15 minutes with the indoor unit (replacing the filter I supplied) and 15 with the outside unit (have video clips showing time). A week later the system malfunctioned and Horizon comes out to tell me I need a new blower fan motor but he wasn't sure when he could get the part. He was in no hurry to call back. With temps in the 90s all week I called another company who came out and diagnosed the problem as a short in the circuit board. They showed me proof that the unit hadn't been properly cleaned in a very long time (certainly not the week before!) The unit was full of caked on leaf and yard debris (photos available!) that accumulated over time. The debris caused a short in the wiring which wouldn't have occurred if the unit was properly cleaned. I was very angry as I pay Horizon a monthly fee for unit maintenance. The repair cost me approx. $2000.00 in addition to the fee I paid Horizon that day when the tech assured me that "everything was done right" at my service call the prior week. No one from Horizon will return my calls so I intend on filing a formal complaint. It was also incredibly irritating that both Horizon techs referred to my system as "on its last leg". It is 12 yrs old and should last 10 more. The service repair quote was titled "Bandaid report". WTH! They suggested I get a comfort tech out to quote a whole new system! Ha if I didn't discover what a scam this company is I certainly would need a new system shortly! read more

My daughter, against my better judgement had you come out to access a water sewer main problem. The $99 fee was the reason she called. She was in a hurry and didn't get a second quote...BIG MISTAKE! The price quoted by the salesman was for way more work than was actually done by the workcrew. We have called twice and had no response to either one. We feel a price adjustment is in order and hope to be contacted about the situation. Also the site in front of the house is a mess and needs to be regraded! read more

We are repeat customers of horizon. We called Thursday about a water problem in the bathroom. They said they were backed up and could not make it out until Saturday between two and six. Then the next day water was coming through the ceiling into the basement we called them back they said they didn't have anyone that could come out until Saturday between two and six my husband asked if he needed to get someone else they said no they could get him there and so we told them to come Sat. We turned off all the water to prevent any more damage but it continued leaking. We waited until 6 PM Saturday and still no one arrived. I called them and they told me we had canceled the appointment Friday. And that we had told him we were going to get someone else to come in. We did not cancel the appointment we told them to look at their records and listen to the conversation. They were very belligerent and treated us like we were liars. We asked to speak to The customer relations manager but they said he was not available on the weekends. Right on their service agreement it states that if you're not happy you can talk to the customer relations manager. We will not use them again. read more

I have to agree with many of the other reviewers. The service they did was reasonable for the price and we knew we were going to have to replace the A/C unit. I have called Horizon 3 times for emergency service, once for a sump pump repair, once for a broken pipe fitting and once for a garbage disposal issue. They advertise 24 hour service, come out anytime for no extra cost. None of those 3 times were they able to come out, two times it was not for a few days. *****OVERPRICED SCAM ARTISTS********DONT BE FOOLED**** Definitely do your homework and get several estimates. I feel they are over priced and tried to scam me. I did NOT need a new heater immediately and there is no carbon monoxide in my house, as I was told. Had Horizon out to do routine maintenance on my 24 year old Lennox unit. It was still functioning but overall needed to upgraded. At my request sent out a salesperson same day. I was quoted a reasonable price as I have gotten other quotes in recent past. Install was scheduled for 2 days later in the afternoon. Crew was 2 hours late but did apologize as they said they has mandatory class in the am which pushed back their day. Install went well, crew was very nice and a friend who does commercial work looked at thier work for me and thought it was done in a quality fashion. The hiccup was that after they left the system was bypassing the new heat pump and going directly to back up, more expensive propane heat. I called to notify Horizon and was told by 2 different operators that this is proper functioning when it is cold out. I know that this is incorrect and insisted that a technician come out. There were no appointments for 2 days. I called the next day to notify them that the check was stopped and I was not going to pay until the issue was rectified. I then got a call back and a technician soon came out afterward. He very easily and quickly saw that the thermostat was incorrectly programmed by the installers. The thermostat was reprogrammed and system working properly now. I do have to give Horizon credit for living up to and fixing the issue in a prompt manor. I did read many negative reviews and was reluctant to use them but other than what was a human error and can happen to any of us the did stand behind their work read more

Horizon Services is a major rip off company for HVAC. Ours went out Wednesday after the storm. My thermostat was not working. So I figured something electrical. Horizon came out yesterday and diagnosed $2600 worth of issues. Nothing that had to do with the problem. Seems their repairmen are sales reps too. He said we should just get a new unit. Yes it is a 20 year old unit but we want it to last a few more years. We then remembered that we had a home warranty with the home purchase. Today a guy came out and replaced a fuse and a shorted wire that was loose in the A/C outdoor unit. So Horizon had five different things on the quote. Nothing had to do with the problem. They wanted to replace a blower motor and wheel at $1500 because it was leaking. We reached in there today and no leaks, just dust. So needless to say we'll never use them again. When I called to cancel the appointment to put the parts that they said I needed I asked to speak to a manager. But the lady on the phone said she would relay this to a manager, so even though it was only 4:00 in the afternoon she would not give to management. What a horrible experience. Update: Had a nice discussion with Evan a manager at Horizon and ended up that I was refunded the payment I made. read more

There charges are very high. I called them for some other service reagarding my heating system, they recommended me to replace my thermostat. They charged me $320 for the thermostat. I was ignorant about market price and agreed. Later, I found these devices cost $100 in Home Depot/Lowes. I asked for refund, but they said they cannot do anything. It is total reap off. Also, be careful about them, where they make customer sign to waive the right to cancel the transaction, which is applicable in PA. Very polite customer service and competent repair workers. Very considerate in your house and easy to deal with. However, they were very expensive and they charged us a $80 fee just to come to the house, even though we paid them $500 to fix our heater. I always assumed service fees were charged when they came to your house but didn't fix anything. When we asked why they charged us so much for one of the heater parts and for the service fee, they automatically refunded it to us with no question. It was very apparent that they charged us these amounts intentionally and would just refund us if we called them on it. We were so happy with their customer service originally but will never use them again because it was apparent that they were trying to charge us for services not rendered. read more

We bought a Lenox system...supposed to be top of the line. Either Horizon doesn't know what they are doing, or Lenox (sp?) doesn't know what they are doing. HUGE caution to anyone considering either of these until we actually see our system work. read more
