If you believe the commercial, get your head examined. They come out find the first time, and we signed up for a service contract. Then when we called from maintenance on our heater that we had under contract in mid October they told I was the soonest they could come was mid February. Obviously this was quite ridiculous, but they would not approve that were even called us back. I canceled my contract and will never do business with them again. read more

Do not rely simply on what they are telling you about high cost repairs/replacements. HVAC tech was pretty professional but said a part needs replacement and suggested that would cost close to having a new unit replaced which clearly was not the case.... These are predatory practices that employees dont start themselves unless higher ups are encouraging it , weather directly or indirectly. Company sure promotes a culture of ripping off customers... read more

Terrible. Was more concern with getting my personal information, rather than sending someone out ASAP! Wasted 20mins on the phone on hold.

On a Sunday, we noticed our toilet and bathtub backing up. After plunging for a couple hours, we realized that was not going to work. We figured there was a block in the main sewer line between the house and the street. I called Horizon services at 11 PM on Sunday night, and they said they could have somebody come out tomorrow. We scheduled a time, and the driver called us 30 minutes before he was going to arrive and he arrived on time. The technician, Phil, was polite, courteous, and did exactly what we were told he was going to do when he arrived. We were quoted a price of $249 and that was what he said the price was when he was done. We also had an online coupon for $37.50 which he gladly applied toward the bill. I would highly recommend using Horizon services and we will definitely use them in the future. read more

I would not recommend Horizon. My A/C WAS NOT functioning during the past heat wave during Labor day weekend. They were an hour and a half late for the 4 hour service window. They did honor their policy that I would not be changed for the service call. The repairman said he could not repair it until he got the part on Tuesday. He then gave me an estimate of $1,854 to replace a $30 part ( the part was covered under warranty and was free) and 3 hours of work. So for 3 days we went without air. I had another A/C repair company (C&C Heating and A/C) come on Tuesday had he got my system up and running in 30 minutes so we did not have to go without A/C. He then gave me options to fix the repair permanently. One option was $250 and the other that was the exact same option as Horizon was recommending and it was $500. Horizon was charging me more the 3X's. How can they justify overcharging people. read more

I've been using Horizon for years. They're always prompt and courteous. When parts are needed, they're pricey but also come with a warranty. Had a condenser replaced for $300 but needed another one in a year and it was replaced free. Their Preferred Partner Plan has saved me some money over the years. read more

I have nothing bad to say about the service tech or the sales rep we dealt with. Everyone was open and honest, and responses in a timely fashion. However, the pricing is ludicrous. I understand having a large organization, their overhead is much higher, but to me that still doesn't justify their costs being as much as 250-300% higher than small businesses. Our AC stopped working, and it turned out we had a failed capacitor and contactor, as well as a leaking evaporator coil. We paid $1400 for the initial work, then were quoted $4000 for the coil. In addition, they recommended a full system replacement for $9000. I then got a second opinion, and found out the initial work should have only cost $400, and the coil replacement $1500. Lastly, a full system replacement would be $4000. Again, the people were beyond friendly, helpful and honest...the service just unfortunately can not justify the excessive price tag. read more

Called this company for various jobs over the years and always had a bad experience. First time I needed a stuck drain cleaned out. The guy came and told me he couldn't help because the pipe is full of water. LOL. Of course it is, it's blocked! More recently I had a huge leak from my in progress, water was gushing out at the rate of dozens of gallons per minute into my basement. Called them on an emergency basis, the lady on the phone has no clue and starts going through her computer, casually asking me if I have a file with them and do I want to create one, etc. Huh? I have a major leak and no interest in establishing a customer record at the moment, just get a damn plumber over and stop it!!! She doesn't get it and says she'll call back! What the... Then my brain unfroze and I called a real plumber. read more

It was a late Saturday night when we discovered our hot water ran out, we noticed our water tank had a leak. We called Horizon 9:00am Sunday morning. We were told a service man would be out between 1:00-5:00. The guy came out and quoted us around $2,500 to replace a new hot water tank and hook up 1 electrial line. We were shocked over the cost. The service man went on to say its reasonable, they remove the old tank, hook up new tank, they had 1 tank in the service van he drove. The new tank was only under warranty for 5 years. Its now 30 minutes later and we told him again it was higher than we expected, that we are going to shop around. He then dropped the price $1,500 less. My husband and I were in disbelief what we were hearing. He then went on to say "well if this is your 1st time you ever had Horizon out before I can give you a good deal". This is a franchise rip off business. We sent him on his way. He SHOULD have asked us as soon as he came in our home, if we ever had Horizon out, not after dropping his price after 30 minutes of him bickering over the costs and saying all the other plumbing companies charge the same price.....really and do they also give 2 prices for the same job while in your home. We have a friend we got in touch with, we went through him and saved a bundle plus got a 10 year warranty for a total cost of $660. read more

Horizon told me I had a cracked heat exchanger that was leaking Carbon Monoxide, which is why my unit was shutting off. They told me I would be in the $7500 range for a new furnace, and $14k -$15k range for AC & Furnace. I received another quote for a third of these prices with a Trane model (good brand, not some random BS brand). Upon further review from another party, I learned the exchanger was not cracked, CO was not leaking in the house, and I got the unit running for $50 after the flame sensor was fixed. These guys are a bunch of con artists who bank on people not questioning them or getting 2nd opinions. I guess they have to pay for all of that advertising, bu charging that much is complete BS. I'll never use them again. read more

I called Horizon to fix a problem with my central air during the summer. I knew they would be 2-3 times more expensive than other providers, but I figured they'd be able to come right away and fix the problem fast. The technician that came was fine, and he quoted me $2000 to fix the motor in the air conditioning unit. He then tried to upsell me on getting my central air replaced. That's fine, I expect it. I asked him how long it would take to just repair my unit. He said it might take a week to get the necessary part, so I considered replacing everything. The next day, I call a local provider. He is able to get the part that day and perform the replacement for $500. Not only was the provider able to fix it 5x faster, but also 4x cheaper. read more

So heres an update to the the post A YEAR AGO. Funny thing is I'm hardly on yelp..just had to sign in again. I was looking at my old reviews and laughed at this one about horizon. Why? BECAUSE THEY DID THE EXACT SAME THING!! Dispatcher called me at 6:20..said the guy was leaving center valley, which is about a half hour away. Guy showed up at 7:40...plus, I was signed up to get my heat and AC serviced, they told him just my heat. They had to send someone else the next day. In Horizons defense, they did give me a 50 dollar gift card for my troubles and the next guy was great! His name was Oscar. He said I can request him next year..I definitely will. read more

My house is pretty old and our sewer pipe backs up Every 6 months or so. Normally we have someone come out and snake the pipe and everything is back to normal. This time horizon came to snake it and got stuck on a root so they brought in a camera to check it out. They said that it was going to be "nightmare job" and that we would have to dig up our steps and our neighbors yard. Horizon told us our Sewer pipe was collapsed and it would all have to be replaced they quoted us a cool 19 grand to replace it. The guy that came out was very charming and helpful or so it seemed. He said that it would cost 5 grand to have a backhoe come out to Our house that is ridiculous. Of course we had other people come out for other opinions when they came buy the horizon rep was still there when they came into our house the rep got mad and upset that there were other people coming to give us quotes. As it turns out our sewer pipe is not collapsed and even if it was we would not have to dig up our stairs and neighbors yard not only did they lie to us about this but they also said that the township would cover the line out to the street, that is false. Finally we had a leaky basement sink and a toilet water valve that needed to be replaced they quoted us somewhere around 600 bucks for both of them which is crazy. These people are wolves in sheep's clothing. They will take advantage of you. Don't let their charming helpfulness fool you all they want is money. read more

Nobody beats Horizon for their drain clearing services.

Had a great experience - late night visit to the house to repair a time sensitive problem. Problem was diagnosed and repaired in short order- issue was explained and the tech was excellent. Office communication was outstanding and very helpful. Not a grumble to be had - Highly recommended. Edit: edited to clarify that this was HVAC related. :) read more

Frank came over at the last minute on Father's Day, one of the hottest days of the year so far, to fix our AC. super friendly and explained everything in detail. Found what he thought was the problem, but then took the extra time to check one more thing and ended up finding the real problem which was a cheaper fix. read more

Excellent all the way around. Price, tech (Jon), availability, service & resolution.

If I could give these guys -5 stars I would. Let me start by saying that the tech came into my house with no facial covering on whatsoever. I have been having a issue with water backing up in my downstairs sinks and washer drain. It was to the point I couldn't run the dishwasher or washer AT ALL and I could only run the sink for short periods of time. I also have a newborn at home so being able to wash things are pretty important. I was referred to horizon by a reputable plumber that I know solely because they are running a $99 drain cleaning special. So the technician got here. I told him what was happening and pointed him to a clean-out under my steps (in a crawl space). I offered to move the steps for him but he insisted it wasn't necessary. He then ran a snake down my kitchen sink (that didn't do anything) so he then went to my washer drain. Big surprise, that didn't fix anything. He refused to snake behind my bathroom sink because it was hard to get to. He then told me I needed to call a plumber and there is nothing he could do for me before charging me $59 for him coming out. So I called the next day to complain about the lack of service just to be told I would have to wait until the next day for them to get someone out to me "free of charge". So I waited, just to have to same tech call me towards the end of my appointment window to tell me that he was already here and that he wasn't coming back out but someone would call me to get me on the schedule (again!!!). Nobody called me to reschedule. I did get a phone call the following day to let me know the tech was 20 minutes from my house. I had already had somebody that wants to do their job out to take care of it at that point. I wouldn't recommend this "service" to my worst enemy. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. This company either lied to me & tried to scam me, or they sent out a technician who didn't know what he was doing & misdiagnosed our problem. Long sorry short - they claimed we had a broken trap which would cost $6,500.00 to fix. After multiple estimates from other companies, we found out that it was just a major clog, no broken trap at all! Luckily, that only ended up being $90!!! DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!!!! Hopefully I will get a refund of $100.. we will see how well they resolve this. I will never use them again!! read more

Our plumber John was terrific and a nice guy to boot. Saved our butt when a sewer pipe broke on a Sunday night. However....Horizon's pricing is thru the roof! $895 for a little over an hour labor is just too much....$500 would have been pricey , but at least justifiable. Just got a call from their service manager and they are refunding me $137 as an additonal courtesy read more

HOMEOWNER BEWARE! This company will rip you off, is predatory, and deceptive. Mid December, our boiler went out. Called Horizon to do a diagnostics/repair on it, long story short the tech wasn't very knowledgeable of the boiler (but kept remarking at how out-dated and poorly maintained it was), installed a new control (he claimed it cost $1500) and still couldn't get it working. Tech said they'd likely have to replace the transformer and another part which would total over $3k and "rather than throw all that money at it, might as well get a new boiler installed". Hearing him out, we agreed to have them come out to provide an estimate for a new boiler. Scare tactics, shady practices, etc... salesman gave us an estimate for a new boiler totalling over $17,000! They see a nice property and seemingly desperate homeowners and think "$$$$". We obviously balked at that price and they eventually went down to $13,000. Beware of any company that can cut $4k off the price just like that, they're taking advantage of you. Oh and don't forget their financing plans that include 9.9% interest! This company is predatory. We had another company come out the next day, were able to get the boiler up and running in a matter of 30 minutes! All it needs is an annual maintenance and it "will last for many more decades to come." Apparently Horizon installed an incompatible control on the boiler, which we then had to pay to be replaced - and it only cost $250 not $1500. All around we dodged a bullet by not going through with Horizon's recommendations. read more

Mike replaced our water heater a few weeks ago when it failed. He explained all of our options and we picked a package that we were comfortable with. After a few hours of work we had hot water again and my utility room was left cleaner than when he started. Thank you so much. read more

Run, don't walk from this company. Classic bait and switch. Their ad said a/c tune up plus filter plus 1 lb Freon. 1st system they didn't replace filter. They said no filter. So wow, they saved maybe $5. There is a filter. Then they told me wrong size to replace electrostatic filter. Glad I didn't order. Second system not sure if they would have replaced filter if I hadn't asked. Then was told I needed a $260 capacitor. $9 part and basically plug in. I understand making a profit but come on. Then I was told Freon was low in one system. But they couldn't add the one pound their ad said as there was no guarantee that was enough and there could be liability and more than one pound would be hundreds of dollars more. But since I paid for two tune ups I should have had at least 2 pounds available. They really just wanted to sell a replacement, not service what was there. Like I said, run. read more

Shortly after posting my review, I was contacted by a customer relations manager. Although I was still a little sore from my last experience with Horizon, I'll give them this much -- they have a genuine interest in customer satisfaction. The company representative was attentive, professional, and courteous, and he made it clear to me that he wants my business and, most importantly, wanted to make things right. In the end, we came to an agreement and I'm satisfied with the resolution. A word to the wise: know what you're getting with this service. Called Horizon to come out for some plumbing work that another plumber had been working on for two months. My basement was backing up with sewage and the cap in my yard was overflowing with waste. Horizon fixed the issue in about 45 minutes for a very reasonable rate and gave me a guarantee in case the issue started happening again. I wish I had called them two months ago and never used the other plumber. I will be calling Horizon before anyone else if I have any future issues. read more

I've had this company replace my hot water heater & was satisfied with their work. I signed up for their service plan which is fifteen dollars a month. I have a better chance of hitting the powerball, than getting my heater serviced. The first time they canceled the day before scheduled service, and then no one showed up the day of my rescheduled service date. When we called, they told us that it was scheduled for the next day, and they could not accommodate us. We had to work that day, and would never schedule on a work day. We have not received a return phone call at this point, and do not intend to do anymore business with a company of this weak caliber. read more

Although Horizon wasn't able to repair our system, Pat was super helpful and a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend him.

I called Horizon services to my home when my hot water heater broke. They came out quickly . After inspecting my hot water heater, the service man wrote an estimate and said he would complete the job that day. His estimate was for $2100. He told me his unit would be under warranty and if anything went write ong they would come out day or night. I never bought a hot water heater before so I was uneasy with the price not knowing how much a competitor would charge. When I told the Horizon rep I would like to check other companies, he got very pushing saying if you don't take my offer now , it would be voided. I told him to leave and I would call him back. Home Depot installed me for $850 with an 8 year warranty. If you have extra $$ laying around , give them a call. read more

Horizon serviced my AC and Boiler. They were on time, nice, clean, explained a needed repair.. overall a great experience!!

The drain was expertly cleaned and the technician was very informative, very professional, I will always use Horizon in the future

Beware of this company....I own a mobile home and my furnace stopped working, so I called Horizon as I knew nothing of HVAC and they have ads and coupons everywhere. When the Tec reviewed my furnace, he came to the conclussion that the heat exchanger failed and it was in my best interest to replace the furnace. Considering my furance was 26 years old, I agreed with his assessment. The Tec agreed to waive the dispatch fee if I set up an appointment with their sales associate to get a quote for a new furnace. The quotes that were given to me by their sales guy had me somewhere between vomiting and crying. $9700 to replace a furnace....in a MOBILE HOME. But wait! Its the preseason so we will give you 25% off bringing it down to "a very reasonable" $7300....my mom paid less than that for a standard 2 story home. Something seemed off about this "great deal." As I called around other HVAC companies I confirmed what I suspected...they were ripping me off..big time. I found an independent contractor who did the job for $4000. It only took a few hours to do since a mobile home has just one strip of ductwork running down the length of the trailer. The guy literally just had to pull out the old and fit the new one in place. The unit itself cost $2500. So Horizon would have charged me $5000+ for a few hours of labor?! "But the warranties!".....every person I talked to in HVAC warned me to stay away from Horizon and now i know why. When your heater goes....dont panic. Get some space heaters and do some research before resorting to these crooks. read more

Feeling ripped off. Do not use this service. They are untrustworthy. I called to have our heater and air conditioning serviced. They came and then told me after 1/2 hr that we needed a new heater and that they would need to service the air conditioning to the tune of $1200. I wish I had known ahead of time what rip off artists they are. After they left, I called two other companies to come and verify the information I was given by the Horizon Tech guy. The 1st HVAC guy came and shook his head and asked what did Horizon do to the heater. He told me they did nothing and all it needs is a good cleaning. He also told me that Horizon operates in such a way that all they want to do is sell you a new system. He asked me if there was a second guy on the service call. I said yes. He said that is the sales person. That is how Horizon operates. All they want to do is sell and not truly service their customers. Once they have you on the hook for a new system, then they have you sign up for their annual service contract. The 2nd HVAC guy came and looked at the paperwork that Horizon had left. He just shook his head and didn't understand what work was necessary. He looked at my air conditioner and said only the coil needs to be cleaned. Nothing else. Do not use the service, it is a complete and utter rip off. Again all they want to do is sell you a new system whether you truly need it or not. read more

Sales process for new a/c system is insulting -price for unit is "only good if you sign tonight " otherwise the price will be $1000 more if you wait. Showed me some photocopies of other competitor estimates while making disparaging remarks about other brands. Indicated that other competitors will also use these tactics to get you to sign immediately. These sales techniques would give used car salesmen a bad name. This company markets itself as honest, transparent and differentiated from its competitors. This may be true opon the service side but the sales side is the same old sales techniques that most educated consumers will be repulsed by. (For those reading Nicole's response from Horizon, please note the following:) 1. I appreciate the response and will get back to her directly. However, know that this is a fairly canned response that I have seen Horizon use on other negative reviews.(to blunt the impact of the review) 2. The sales approach that The Horizon salesman used with me last night was undoubtedly a result of sales training he received. There was a well rehearsed sequence, script and sales materials used including the price that's "only good for tonight ". I welcome the opportunity for Horizon to state in their response to me (and for all to see) that they do not train their sales team to offer special discounted pricing only if you sign during the sales visit vs one price regardless of when you agree to the terms (e.g. In the next week or some reasonable period) read more

Beware! Horizon checked our heater and claimed it had an issue - which could potentially cause a problem. After consulting a second employee they shut our heater off - claiming they couldn't be held responsible. They could have their salesman out the next day....enter our usual heater person (should have called first) who not only told us he saw nothing wrong to cause a shutdown but relayed this scare tactic is common with Horizon. Our heater was old and we did replace -when we wanted to - months later and at less cost. read more

I don't know what it is about these companies but they don't want to fix anything they just want to sell you a new product like a new furnace for 7,000 they are a scam don't use them they came out to my house and told me my furnace needed a new blower motor and that will cost 3,000 dollars so I go online to do some research and come to find out that it only cost 500 dollars so where do they get their prices from scam artists read more
