They are now back in stock at Popmart (since the trend is dying), so you might as well go straight to the source and save yourself $40. Also, it doesn't help that the business owner constantly complains to customers about having to pay $20,000 a year for Square (the credit card system they use). And now he's adding a 20% charge to all credit card purchases. Part of running and owning a business are expenses. If you can't afford to run a business, then don't run a business! The folks here are friendly and you can tell they are knowledgeable and love the industry. I randomly stumbled across this place when I was grabbing lunch in the area on my break. I can't speak to much on the value because I was just going in to take a look at the time (and didn't purchase anything on that particular visit), but from the price tags, everything that I saw seemed very reasonable. This is the type of place that I would have spent a lot of my paper route or minimum wages I earned when I was a kid. I probably would have spent hours here and been here all the time if this place was near me growing up. If you are into comic books and related collectibles, this place is an absolute gem.

If you love pinball, they have cool machines here. I saw pulp fiction, jurassic park, and evil dead machines, for example. Their comic book shop isn't the largest one in LA; however, they are well stocked here. Check their website to see their inventory of unique items. If you keep an eye on their calendar they will have interesting events here. My wife has seen comic book signings here. Last week they had Jeff Hays, famous for the "Dungeon Crawler Carl" audio books, who was on site to do a reading of "Absolute Batman #1" for Batman Day. On top of this, they have some nicely curated gems. My wife was able to get a curated stack of "Vampire Hunter" comics that was from the Buffy universe. Next door, they have a coffee shop with ample seating/table space. Saw a group of people playing D&D there. The summation of all these things is what makes this spot in Eagle Rock special. We didn't even mind contending with the terrible parking in the area. Because I live in Long Beach, I'll probably order things from here on their website; however, I'm glad that we came.

I honestly envy them for getting to work in a place like this. lol My only wish is that they had more seating scattered throughout the store so you could curl up and read in your own little corner rather than having to make your way to the café. A small thing, but it would make a great experience even better. Otherwise the place is still great. I've loved all my purchases and will continue to make this my primary book store.
