Hubby and I came to Horizon Comics yesterday. We had been there once over a year ago. We were going to Bases Cards & Comics, but they up-charge their comics. A comic is $3.99, but Bases Comics charges $10. Wow. Anyway, we then decided to visit Horizon Comics. I'm glad we did. Store is huge, clean and so nice!! They do not upcharge their items. They can also preorder Comics and other items for customers, which is great. All around they're professional, super nice and friendly. My go to comic store from now on!!! Don't go anywhere else!! Trust me.

If you haven't gone here you need to go. I wish I stayed there longer, but I was on a strict schedule. The atmosphere is creative and welcoming, with a cool artistic vibe that makes browsing so much fun! The staff clearly knows their stuff and are passionate about books and art. The store was super clean , well organized and easy to navigate through, when with such uniqueness. Overall experience was so unique, I wish i had more time to enjoy the cafe, games and books. Plan on staying here for at least an hour. I love this place! Found it by accident.

After a rainy day in Glendale I looked up the sorts of places I like to visit typically when I'm in…read moreor around greater LA. I was disappointed to see record stores have dried up, but when I looked up comic book stores, this was near the top, and close to where I had lunch. Street parking is fairly easy, and I didn't realize that the first door I passed was another entrance to a café looking area. However, the main entrance was a visually impressive experience in its own right. Full of stimuli basically, that's assured at Revenge of... (the Nerds? Supes?). Love the name! In addition to comics and usual toys and nicknacks, I was delighted to find not one, but two areas devoted to pinball machines! Additionally, the interior design evokes lots of classic (e.g. Silver and Bronze Age) artwork. X-Men and Spider-Man definitely influenced the architectural approach. It's impressive and lends a fun vibe, as well as atmospheric lighting. Two café counters in different areas allow for drinks to be purchased, and lots of nooks and crannies have things ranging from vinyl records, board games, a discounted graphic novels area, as well as recent comic titles and weekly releases (typically on Wednesdays). The back issues are found in X shaped fixtures and spaced in a clever arrangement that simultaneously encourages and enhances browsing, and yet doesn't clutter the walking areas. I found several missing issues for my Conan the Barbarian run, and everything is bagged and boarded (archival terms), so that's good. I didn't explore the pinball machines as I was pressed for time, but I definitely see myself visiting when I'm nearby in the future.

It was so nice, and then Covid hit and all the chairs were taken out and never brought back. I miss those days. We took our granddaughter in to pick out books. Barnes & Noble in Palmdale is the ultimate spot to not only find the perfect gift for family,…read morefriends, or even yourself, but also spend a few hours enjoying the vibe of a true book lover's paradise. The spacious layout is ideal for browsing, and they have a good amount of books in each category. I appreciate the couple of chairs by the windows, right next to the magazines. It would be nice to have chairs also near other sections of the store, especially by the cookbooks, because there are so many to choose from and it's nice to relax while you browse your next book purchase. If you're the type who likes to take your laptop out and work while enjoying a cup of coffee, this is a decent place for it. It's like the perfect blend of a café, a library, and a workspace all in one. The girl, Melanie, at the front counter was friendly and helpful during both of my visits. She took my order at the Cafe during one visit, and during my last visit, she also assisted me with my book purchase. She informed me of how to get the best value and signed me up for the Barnes & Noble Rewards membership with zero hassle. I love how easy it was to sign up! Also, it's nice that the book purchase receipts usually come with a discount offer to use at the cafe. Speaking of the cafe, the barista, Xander, really knows his stuff! I asked for a custom Frappuccino, and he totally nailed it. Perfectly blended, not too sweet, and just the right amount of kick. Honestly, the treats and drinks they offer at the cafe make the whole visit that much more enjoyable! This location is a nice spot for a casual hangout and fit for people of all ages. It's a place where you can escape into a good book, find that perfect gift for someone special, or just enjoy the simple pleasure of the environment. Highly recommend and don't forget to visit the section by the door where they usually have good deals on books! It's experiences like this that make me realize how much value is found in a bookstore beyond just the price tags.
