Super fun place to hit up down town. Thy have an amazing selection of beers on tap and the ambiance is awesome! They have your typical dart boards and tv's but the kicker was the old school board games they had. Pretty good set up with a wide variety of beers local and not all on tap. And even more available in cans and bottles. Upon arrival I looked over the screen displaying all the types of beers all of which were split up into subsections making it very convenient for the consumer. After perusing the menu for a few minutes, I was promptly served by the first of a few bartenders that I would interact with this evening. Soon after I ordered two 4$ beers, I gave the bar keep a healthy 2$ tip for his troubles. At this point of the night we were set for a most enjoyable experience. TVs displaying the college football match, and a kind crowd that accommodated to the barking dogs that are allowed inside the bar, while leashed. After some time it had come to our second, then third round. Once the task of paying had come back to me, I had realized I had been charged more for each beer, not the 4$ I had previously paid. Granted I had been chosen by a different bartender for these rounds, I would hope they would know to charge me what the menu states the price of beverage I had chosen. My unfortunate adventures continued with the third bartender that had waited on me. Charging me yet again more for the beer I had previously been charged 4$ for. After being "overcharged" for what was our final round, this bartender proceeded to show much more affection for their significant other than is normal for a public place. Let alone their place of employment!!? This went on to the extent of removing a customer for interacting with their significant other. Although this was my first experience, I do not foresee me having any others at this place of overcharging yet affectionate business. read more

I'm not a big beer drinker, but my husband is. we went in for him to try some new IPAs. The selection of anything other than wine is small, however, where this place really shines is the pricing and staff. We had the most amazing service and even though it started to pick up around happy hour times we still were offered amazing service and my husband loved his very strong IPA and I even found a new prosecco to try. My new favorite bar in Flag. I usually go out 3 times a week and I always make it a habit to stop by here for at least a pint. They have about 30 different selections of beers, with the majority being micro and craft breweries. They do not serve spirits. The cost is typical of this area, starting from 3.50 going up to 7.50, with a few over $10.00 selections. They generally do not have specials going on so expect the same pricing every day. Visiting area to participate in Goose Island Brewery Migration Week. Tonight was there kick off in Arizona Hops on Birch and this place is great. First, they have a good selection of brews on tap and in the can if you like variety. The staff behind the bar is great. If your not sure what you want ask for a taste and they are patient while you decide. But don't think they just lounge around, they hussle behind the bar to fill orders and keep checking on you to make sure you have a good night. We've been coming to HOB since it opened last year and have thoroughly enjoyed watching it grow to what it has become. We have done the dinner pairing (not sure if they do this anymore) and were very pleased. They let you bring your pups in with you (and give you a discount if you do!) which makes for some entertaining times. We have let our bulldog puppy romp around with a basset hound puppy and a terrier to the amusement of everyone in the place. I love Hops, and I must say I've never had a bad time there. I've even had a friend ditch me at the bar mid drink there, and I still had a good time. They always have good beer, its always a friendly atmosphere and they also let you bring in dogs which is nice.They even let my sister bring her puppy in once and it played with the owners dog running around the bar. There's always different and diverse people in there and of course the beer is great and well priced. Even my friends who don't like beer still end up having a good time there. The one complaint I have is the live music is not always that great, however I have endured pretty awful live acts at Hops and still had a really good night so not a big issue for me. read more

If you aren't a big craft beer drinker, going into a place like this can be overwhelming. You don't want to order beer after beer that you've never heard of, and aren't sure if youll like it. We walked in and the first thing the bartender, Alan, asked was "what beers do you usually drink?" Then poured me 4 samples of different beers similar to what I usually drink, all of which were good.
