Well, we visited this restaurant for the first time. Upon entering, they had wonderful entertainment, but her mic was way too loud. I could not hear the mate'rd so op-ed to eat outdoors. By first glance, the cushion covers at some of the tables were busting open with stuffing exposed. It took staff a bit to clean the table while we were standing in the dining section. When we sat down, and the weathered cushions scratched the back of our legs. The staff were incredibly nice but there was a long wait for even the food. My children ordered lemonades and I had a passion fruit/pineapple margarita and both were watered down. We also had nachos and wings as appetizers. Both were something my kids could pull together in the kitchen The flavoring of the dry rub wings was off for me. The presentation and taste of the nachos were mediocre. There were not enough fans going to cool things off and to keep the bugs away.There was a contraption on the table I think to keep bugs away but was broken. We decided to leave and did not opt for dinner. The bill was $75 and left a $20 tip. I found the bill high for the level of food and atmosphere. My experience was extremely disappointing and will never return. I love to support local restaurants, unfortunately this one has a lot of work to be done. My family and I went to Hops and Thyme today for lunch. It was ok. The patio area is nicely shaded. The beer selection is decent. The food was mediocre. My kids got the chicken and waffle, hubby got a breakfast bowl of poached eggs, spinach, and potatoes, I got the Asian salad with shrimp and we had Brussel sprouts for a starter. Pro: the breakfast bowl was decent. The eggs were slightly over cooked but not too bad, potatoes not overly fried, tomatoes tasted fresh along with the mushrooms and spinach. The chicken with the waffles was tender, not over cooked. The shrimp was not over cooked. Our server was attentive but it took a bit for anyone to greet us. Cons: The sprouts were overly fried yet cold, the dressing from the salad tasted like teriyaki sauce straight from a package, and my kids waffle tasted like it came from a box. The caesar salad dressing went from creamy and rich with anchovy, to a simple blend of olive oil and parmesan cheese. Brunch items consist primarily of store bought premade processed ingredients straight from HEB. Sitting outside long enough you will notice employees running back and forth with bags from the HEB next door as the restaurant runs short on supplies throughout the day. A simple stroll toward the bathroom provides a clear view of the pantry stocked primarily with Knorr mixes and highly processed precompiled ingredients. For example a $22 Eggs Benedict Entree consisted of store bought Thomas English Muffins, pre-packaged ice cold Parma Prosciutto, Ore-Ida frozen potato cubes, and "hollandaise inspired" Knorr Bearnaise sauce powdered mix (almost more powder than liquid sauce). The side of bacon I ordered was unmistakably signature Hormel fully cooked bacon drenched in liquid smoke and processed applewood flavoring. It is truly a disappointment to see a local staple that once emphasized farm to table ingredients transition to a business model that more closely resembles "frozen food aisle to table." read more

Very dissatisfied with my experience at your restaurant for the following reasons: 1.) I made arrangements with Ross in advance regarding bringing a large group of seniors for lunch today. He said he would be there but I did not see him or have any greeting at all when we arrived. A table had been set up for our party, but at other restaurants during our monthly meetings we have felt much more welcome. 2.) I was looking forward to your corn chowder that I loved a few weeks ago. It was okay, but definitely a different recipe and not nearly as good. Hint: The quickest way for a restaurant to lose good customers is to change a loved dish and call it the same name. Ex: I loved a French Pot Roast at a certain restaurant, and found It to be prepared exactly the same way at another restaurant in the chain. Just what I had expected! Imagine if McDonald's started using ground pork instead of beef in their burgers! 3.) With such an ample array of beers, one senior was offered no advice on selection and did not drink her beer. In terms of customer service, the bartender (Amy?) was super welcoming and thoughtful. She was particular to detail and very personable. Five stars just for that. We ordered a burger to split and it took like 25 minutes, which seemed like forever since there were only three other people in the place. Burger came and it was SUPER salty. I love this place! The beer selection is spectacular and the bartenders serving it know their stuff. The food is consistently very good! This is a very good neighborhood hang out. I love it when the weather is good and you can sit on the patio and listen to music. It makes me happy. The only reason why I am not giving the place 5 stars is that they are understaffed a decent amount. The servers are trying hard and very nice, but just can't keep up sometimes. So close to getting a five, but for almost half the things we tried to order (beer or food) were out on a Saturday night at 8pm. The food that we did get to eat was top notch and the service was good. I wasn't really all that disappointed that they were out of some food items because everything is really good. I don't really understand them being out of a beer on a Saturday night and not have backups for staples (i.e. Electric Jellyfish) or alternatives to take the place of other, not as common, beers. Everything here is delicious, innovative, well thought out and contributes to an overall experience you don't find many places. Every beer, appetizer and dish we've tried has exceeded our expectations but here are the standouts: THE FRIED CORNBREAD is unreal. Charred carrots with pistachios is very tasty and a big portion for an appetizer. The Brussels sprouts are tasty with a mint flavor different from most. They have a huge selection of beers and the staff really know their stuff. You just have to tell them what you like or don't like and they'll somehow come up with your new favorite that you've never heard of. I'd highly recommend letting them put together a flight of four beers for you to try things like Vietnamese coffee porters, bourbon barrel beers, sours, and other unique flavors. Lastly, you absolutely have to get dessert. We never order dessert out but it's a must here. They have these little bites that are the perfect ending to a meal. The atmosphere is pretty cool with a nice patio area. They even had live music outside when we went on a Friday night. TLDR: amazing food, beer, happy hour, brunch service and atmosphere.
