She will be moving on to a gifted school for first grade, but if she had not been accepted into Knox Gifted Academy, I would have happily kept her at Dobson. Her teacher, Mrs. Ambrose, was truly a gem. One of those teachers where you can clearly see how much she loves what she does and how much she cares for her students. Her assistant teacher, Mrs. Padilla, was also amazing! Very involved and always proactive in coming to me with updates or concerns about my daughter, Vivienne. Every morning when you walked into the school, you were greeted with smiles and uplifting music that set a positive tone for the day. Once my son was accepted to Paragon and I had the opportunity to meet his teacher, I was overjoyed to learn that she had obtained her Masters in Elementary Education and was starting her 9th year at Paragon. School really focuses on grouping based on kids levels which creates an unhealthy competition among class and parents.A lot of teacher tutor right after school dismisses and students taught by the teachers during those sessions, are then able to advance into higher groups so basically you spend more money after paying the monthly tuition.This is a very very common trend. School participates in national history day which is good but problem is the teacher who runs that is very biased.Years ago when her own child was participated in these competitions ( from middle school to high school), he would win awards in almost all categories.People felt nepotism at its very best. This is extremely harmful mentally for the student and makes them unable to feel safe in their school environment even though the we states otherwise. If a child is transgender and has parents that do not except them this could cause issues for the child mentally and physically. The children should be able to express themselves and be who they are without having to involve their parent. The district should insure the childs' safety and happiness yet it does this.
