I love the grove. We have been going for 5 years and been apart of the Celebrate Recovery ministry there. The pastors are funny, real and relatable. They give you hard biblical truths and make the Bible more relevant and digestible. I love that they have a college and are focusing on growing a generation to advocate social justice. I love that they don't rest on only worrying about their congregation but instead are world focused. Palmers background of growing up in Africa ensures that the Grove never views the world as "Gilbert AZ." The chairs don't match! It's one of my favorite things. It say, "Come as you are!" The setup of the worship house is intimate and welcoming. The worship is out of this world. Josh Havens, Andrea Hughes and Katie are phenomenal! But most of all, I like that they preach that no church or pastor should be your salvation. They focus on helping everyone get and grow an individual relationship with Christ! This church is all focused mainly on their college. Palmer, the lead pastor, talks mostly about himself than the life of Christ and Biblical teachings. The Bible is opened occasionally. The music is excellent. Although, at times, you have the vibe of a live concert. Not much talk on sin. The message is only 20 min long most times. If one is needing or wanting growing deeper in their faith and gain more depth in living Christ like.....this church falls short of that.. I pray to God that it enriches and focuses more on what a true meaning of how a church functions for the trinity and all. I cant believe how DISRESPECTFUL this church is in reference to serving and speaking biblically. They actually used reference to FARTING with pertaining to and with GOD and the Bible!!! The Grove is a wonderful church and my family feels so blessed that we have found our home here. The members of The Grove church are focused on showing Jesus to the world, feeding the hungry, lifting up the downtrodden, and welcoming all. It is a mission minded church from top to bottom. They preach scriptural truth and go out of their way to create a safe place for those who are hurting. The Grove worship band is absolutely amazing - I can't say enough about this group. I went today for the first time. If the pastors read this I want you to know the message was great. No complaints there. I think the music missed the mark. When I worship I want my voice and my words to be praise to God, I don't want to feel like I'm standing at a concert. It's not about you and the worship team it about us as a church praising and worshipping our God together. The hand out I received when I entered was good with good info and the facility was beautiful. Even though we are generally pleased with The Grove, I feel that the pastor should quit talking about his vacations to Hawaii and NYC while still asking for tithes to the church. There are people fighting just to pay rent and feed their family, with medical issues that would never be able to do such a vacation. Just don't mention it, Palmer and all would be well. read more

We have been to this church twice with the last time being Easter yesterday. We love the worship and preaching is good but I have to say I feel like we could go 15 more times and nobody would even notice. Nobody greeted us at any of the doors inside or outside and no ushers showed us to some seats. With how many people attend this church I would think that we would have been greeted at the outside doors and also at the inside doors at least connecting with people at least twice. I feel like many could be used in ministry to be greeters and just smiling faces and asking our names. We go to a church when we are living in Washington where you don't get to your seats without being greeted at least 2 to 3 times and new people are sought out and made to feel welcome. With how many churches are around our home down here in Queen Creek we have many options with CCV, Heart Cry, Rockpoint and many others I felt like I should share this so maybe the Grove can up their game to keep new people coming back! I was truly really excited to try this church after hearing about it. We went on Easter Sunday and we know that church is normally a little different on Easter Sunday. However, after I left church I felt so co fused about whether I had just been to church. The church itself is beautiful and very hipster. The worship music is amazing. Beautiful voices and great songs. That probably is the one positive thing I got out of service today. The message was rough. It is Resurection Sunday and to start the sermon off a clip from the movie Up was played. The pastor came on stage and started talking about Rising Up. I felt like during the sermon the movie, the guy from LA and the pastor were the only things talked about. He referenced a few bible verses, but the rest was about us rising up. Resurrection Sunday is about Jesus Christ rising from the dead 3 days later. I felt like the whole Message was lost. The atmosphere was bizarre. Everyone had coffee. There was a guy standing up there painting and didn't even paint a cross or the tomb. A lot of people men and women were looking at each other. Lots of outfits I was shocked people were wearing to church. When the sermon was over my biggest thing was not once did we pray. It is Easter Sunday and so much to be thankful for and we didn't pray! When we were walking out of the doors I knew this was not a church that I could grow in my relationship with Christ. I felt like I can't learn from a church that doesn't even pray. Please read my entire message before commenting on my post I was excited to check this church as a request of my college aged daughter. We are a family of five, my husband, my 21, 18 and 5 year old son. We are by far anything close to a perfect Christian. When i look for a church, my goal is to strengthen my walk in Christ and focus on growing, connecting, fellowship and truly finding my place to recharge and stay grounded in this challenging world. I arrived to The Grove as a new comer. The facility's gorgeous and the place was packed. Everyone seemed friendly and the grounds where definitely well planned for a family atmosphere and all ages. Both my husband and felt the predominant attendance is of people our age (mid 30's to 40's). I did noticed that I got a feeling of a single prowling atmosphere. The funny part is that when both my husband and I tried to describe the place, we both felt like it was more of a Club atmosphere. Women seemed to be up to trying to find someone to hook up with and same with men. We noticed a lot of single and married people checking other people out during the service instead of focusing on the message. The couple ahead of us left fighting over some girl checking the husband out, and continuously looking at his direction and smiling. It was truly very uncomfortable and violating feeling to say the least. My husband mentioned that he noticed a few women checking him out and a few men checking me out. I truly didn't notice this happening to me, but I believe him since I did notice this happened to other people. This is definitely the perfect atmosphere for young adults and singles. If you are looking for a mate and would like to stay away from bars, clubs or online systems, this is the place to go THIS IS NOT A SAFE OR HEALTHY PLACE FOR MARRIED COUPLES The lady that checked my son in as a visitor for the first time seemed pretty blunt to direct all attention to my husband instead of addressing us as a family. She got to a point that she was following him in every direction. I believe that human nature and our built is of flesh, but we need to keep our spirit strong and prevent and avoid temptation or we will fall The message was okay, the pastor was good. We have been coming for quite a bit, but with the pandemic this became more of our coffee spot! Everyone is super nice, and knows our orders. They have a baker who delivers fantastic vegan scones, and also has nice outdoor seating! One employee doesn't have a mask most days, and isn't as nice but she's not there often at least. read more

I got a Yelp account just so I can keep other LGBT Christian families and people who love someone who is LGBT from any high hopes for this seemingly progressive non-denominational Christian church to be inclusive. My family loves Jesus. And He loves us. We were so excited to find this church when we moved here from the PNW. During those times when we are asked to introduce ourselves to our neighbors, my wife and I would proudly refer to each other as "my wife." Not one funny look. Every person we met showed us so much respect and kindness, week after week, for the three months we attended there. After the most beautiful words of the pastor's sermon on how Jesus loved everyone and loves everyone, cares about human rights, women's rights, cares about equality and justice, etc. etc., I thought it was a good idea to make sure that he didn't mean to talk about every minority group EXCEPT LGBT people. So after the service, when most pastors seem happy to speak with people, I asked, "Does what you said today include my wife and I?" He said it was "not simple" to answer that. Huh. Love seems simple to me. He could have just said "YES! Of course! Everyone is a child of God! Duh!" but instead he said we can talk during an appointment that I can set up. It wasn't the right time to talk about this. Then, his usually handsome face turned into the dirtiest, ugliest look I've ever seen. So, after a moving, absolutely beautiful message on LOVE, it is NOT THE RIGHT TIME to talk about love. Ok. Got it. Gotcha. Question answered. I am not conflicted about who I am, God's unconditional love for me. I am conflicted about attending a church who misrepresents who they are. Put it on your website. NO PRACTICING GAYS- you aren't our equals, you are less, you are sinning by being in a God-centered, committed, loving relationship with your same-sex spouse. Because we really believed that justice and equality included us receiving God's love and acceptance and that The Grove stood for that too, we won't be attending anymore. Our faith in God is unwavering. Our faith in people not being bigots, not so much. It may be pretty and slick on the outside, but the true heart of the leadership of the church is not that. Well, maybe for everyone EXCEPT people who didn't have the luxury of being born heterosexual. Please read some books people! Get educated! Do some research! God is NOT an asshole. read more

Beautiful church... not sure what all the bad reviews are about. Weve been to this church 3 times as newcomers. The childrens program is great and welcoming. People are very friendly and warm. The messages have been amazing and on point. We also came for the easter service and it was wonderful. Theres lots of seating and the ushers were very helpful on easter. Ample parking and its really nice walking through the pistachio tree grove on the way to the worship service. They have a nice cafe and also ice tea and coffee w a small donation. Our 5 th grader also enjoyed sunday school. I like how the worship center has a lot of windows w light and trees visible instead of it being dark inside. The artist was painting during easter and the theme was a butterfly being born again, as in the resurrection. Mens group seems very active... they recently had a retreat to puerto penasco and have meetings throughout the week. We decided to go to this church from now on after trying 2 others in the area. I have been looking forward to attending this church for a while since I am new to the area and trying to find a home church. The campus is pretty big and I wasn't sure where to go but eventually found the building. I went up to the front table and shared that this was my first service and where it was located, and they just pointed me in the direction and didn't even ask my name. After the service, I went up to the same desk asking to speak to someone about getting connected and again they didn't even ask my name or introduce themselves and just pointed to tables outside (rooted) and told me that's where to go. I spoke to another lady, who also didn't introduce herself or ask my name but she did tell me about rooted and how to sign up. It seemed more like a business pitch than a relational conversation though. More so, I have been emailing other "pastors" about getting connected and they are unresponsive. I have called multiple times and left a voicemail with no callback. I emailed someone at the church and their response was "Thanks for getting back to me, best of luck finding a good church home. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you at the Grove." I have been church "shopping" for a bit and trying to find a great church family since I am new to Mesa, but it seems I will have to look elsewhere to find that. If you are wanting a church with people who are relational and responsive, then this church is not for you. read more

Our family moved here a few months ago and have been looking for a church to call home. We drove by The Grove several times and decided to give it a try. The church auditorium itself was one the most unique I have seen. The stage is in the middle with seating surrounding it 360 degrees. I had to get used to staring at everyone's face during worship but it was fine after a while. The worship music was great and the pastors message was on point. I didn't feel the staff were super friendly and my children didn't love their service. It felt hard to fit in, but I may need to give a another chance. I cannot begin to explain the dislike I have for the pastors at this church. When something happened in my family, we had contacted Palmer to pray for us however he never did because he was "too busy" had to keep consistently asking him just for him to pray for us one time. His son might be worse. We were attending church one day and people usually stay after to talk with whoever was preaching to have them pray for them. We waited to tell him we wanted him to pray for us and he told us a few minutes but then continued to talk to everyone else (even the ones who were in like after us) for 40 more minutes. We had decided we were just going to leave but before we got up he finally came over to us. He barely said any words to us except saying he didn't have time to talk to us because he wanted to get home to see his baby and we felt very rushed. He was being very impatient with us when we were talking. I get people have things to do it just didn't sit right with me that he had all that time to talk to everyone else and ignore us but didn't have even 5-10 minutes to talk to us. We used to love this church but I don't know what's happened to it. read more

What an wonderful worship experience!! Placed in the beautiful pistachio orchard. You walk in and all of your worries are washed away. On mother's day one of the musicians wrote and performed a song for her mother which was beautiful and the children gave all of the women a carnation it melted my heart, even the pastor's mother was there to share and pray over us...Incredible read more

I can't say enough good things about The Grove. My faith has grown exponentially over the past several years because The Grove has challenged me to live out my faith in meaningful ways. Serving others is a huge part of the Grove's ministry, with annual trip opportunities to Africa, Haiti, and Thailand, as well as monthly opportunities to serve locally. The worship team is truly incredible and Josh Havens leadership has brought a whole new dimension to worship. The pastors each bring a unique approach to their messages, weaving Bible passages and storytelling in a compelling and thought-provoking way. I love how art and other interactive methods of worship are included throughout the year as well. No matter where you are in your faith journey, give The Grove a try. Beautiful building. In my opinion this church does not get into the word much, and barley talks about Jesus. The man was telling a bunch of stories, and barley reading from the bible. I would not reccomend. If u are looking for a good church that preaches the word of God. I would reccomend east mesa baptist church. They read straight from the bible. Philippians 1-10. Check it out for yourself, dont just take my word on it. But I had to leave half way thru wasnt gaining anything from it. You could gain more by listening to Andrew Farley miniseries online or another great idea is to read Gods word alone with him or find a bible study group. read more

The church seating is arranged for 360 degree viewing of the main teaching platform so being close to the musicians and teaching pastor is automatic. I like the feel of the church and often visual examples are demonstrated to bring biblical truths to our current day culture.
