I don't frequent the Lowell area often, but I love checking out new to me places, so Nate and I stopped in to Hop Hog before a performance at the Lowell Performing Arts Center recently. The restaurant is located inside a building with other businesses, and there's plenty of street parking as well as a parking lot behind the building. We were seated right away and our server was really helpful. The menu is pretty big, with lots of sandwiches, burgers, pasta, subs, and of course, BBQ, which is what they're known for. They also have a "lightning lunch" menu with $10 options, which I thought was cool. Other deals include wing Wednesday, Tuesday family meal night, and Monday burger night. I wanted to try their BBQ, so I got the "Hop Hog Choice" option, which includes two sides and then whatever meats you want to add. The sides are $9, then each protein is priced out by 6 oz. I got the brisket, pulled pork, mac and cheese, and Brussels sprouts. Nate got the brisket Philly. Our food didn't take long to come out, and the portions were huge. I loved the pulled pork - it was very tender and perfectly smoked, and it went really well with the Carolina BBQ sauce. I liked the big city heat BBQ sauce with the brisket. The Brussels sprouts were delicious, crispy and seasoned well. The mac and cheese was gooey but not super flavorful. It was a ton of food (also came with a cornbread muffin and cucumbers)! I had a bite of Nate's sandwich and it was tasty, but we both agreed we would have liked more cheese. I'm really glad we checked this place out, and wouldn't hesitate to come back the next time we're in the area.

Well, well, well! Here we thought it was just great bbq , but these folks are full of culinary surprises. Had one of the best fish sandwiches of my life. Thick, juicy codfish sandwich made to perfection with the accompaniment of also perfect waffle fries. The question I must ask, is why go to Culver's when for a few bucks north, you can have this?? Service is kind, and fast, and you don't get a sticker glued to your rear view mirror.

We were lucky enough to snag a table in the corner and it was the perfect spot to catch up with my friend. It is seat yourself! Our waitress arrived quickly and we ordered drinks and food. The fried pickles for an appetizer were amazing. Some of the best fried pickles I've had in a while and the ranch was soooo good. Also the portion is huge so we were able to take a lot of home. I had my eye on the mortadella with pistachio cream sandwich from the moment they posted the special on Facebook and it was everything I expected. Sooo yummy and I would eat this everyday for the rest of my life. Super fresh and all the ingredients just paired so nicely. Two Guys Brewing also has a community fridge where they make and put out free meals for those in need and people can come grab some. It's awesome. Can't wait to go back!

We arrived right at 5 pm on a Friday and the place was almost full already! We were surprised but happy for them, and glad to get a nice cozy two-top in a back corner. We were greeted by our awesome server and ordered some food -- two different mortadella sandwiches and an order of fried pickles to start. Neither of us ordered drinks, but I saw some fun-looking cocktails coming over to nearby tables. The fried pickles came out first and they were perfection. I don't usually get this appetizer because I don't like fried pickle spears, but these were thin chips. The ratio of the fried pickle chip vs. spear is way better. And these came with the best runny ranch. It was a huge portion to split between the two of us, so we had lots left over. Our sandwiches came out shortly after and looked amazing. They were super stacked with tons of meat! I really liked the addition of the grainy mustard which helped cut through the fattiness of the meat. My friend liked hers - it had pistachio butter and ricotta (similar to a delicious sandwich I ate at a wine bar in Detroit). Portions are large and it's a cozy, neighborhood spot. They have rotating food features and are always helping out their community with free meals and other philanthropic ventures. Check them out!

Many brands were local that I'd never heard of before, and it was fun to experiment and try new things. Their food menu honestly shocked me with how tasty everything was. For a board game bar, I usually expect food to take a back seat or be phoned in, but everything was delicious! I had to try the elote deviled eggs, which was a combo I had never considered but I'm so glad someone did! I also got the truffle mac and cheese and a house salad. Both were excellent! The board game selection was extensive, with old favorites and hidden gems. If I'm ever back in the area, I'll be sure to stop in again!

Coming from someone who loves a hoppy IPA and an amber, they combined my two worlds into one. So, it was a natural easy love. For my next, I went with their "Blinky's Black IPA" which was good but got more a weak porter feel than IPA. Like I said, it was good and I'd drink it again but with that expectation. FOOD: I went with an olive burger with be try fresh and real ingredients. The burger itself was full of flavor; add the rest of it and it was phenomenal. If I had to complain about something, I could have used a touch more olive sauce. Now the egg roll... I went with the "Guava the Hutt". I'll just say, I ordered two to go in hopes I can resurrect them in the air fryer later. The back half of the building is a pickleball area and the front half is the brewery and restaurant. Very cool look as they have a few shipping containers as sitting areas. Plenty of seating where I didn't feel jammed in. Also, a few arcade games. The service was friendly but know that it is minimal as you will order from the QR code at your table and order drinks at the bar. Definitely worth checking out and plan on returning.
