After checking out a movie two Saturdays ago, Sophia and I decided to have lunch here at this location. For years, we ventured to Hooters in Newport News before they closed up shop. To Sophia's surprise, I said eat here. Y'all know we typically head to local spots but it doesn't hurt to eat at franchise places every now and then. Let's find out how this visit treated us. Walking inside, they had a nice crowd, probably 65% occupied. Decor was kept very well and all the TVs were playing sporting events or docs. However, it did take a few minutes for one of the waitresses to get us seated. After that, it did take us a few to pick out our orders. We both selected the boneless wing platters with curly fries and ranch (I picked BBQ and she chose parmesean garlic). The wings were very good and size was just right. The fries were good too but did taste a little too salty. But the meal was satisfying for both of us. Overall, not a bad visit. But recently, news came down that Hooters may file for bankruptcy. Several locations are at risk for closing. Hampton, as I understand, is not on that list. Hopefully, the chain finds a way to survive during this trying time. read more

Here we go again with this franchise location. Had previous issues with the order not being even started until after I arrived and asked for my order. This time we ordered 50 wings to be doordashed to our house. The dasher arrived at the location and was told the order had already been picked up, WTF? I was totally blown away by the Hooters in Hampton, far from my last visit years ago. We went during college football bowl week (TCU and Michigan playing). We were seated in a nice spot, next to the window and we could see almost every TV monitor in the place, not to mention a nice view of Mercury Blvd. and Coliseum dr.. It was busy, but there was still some seating room. Angel, our server came out and took our drink orders. She was an experienced server because she had a memory like an elephant, I don't think I seen her write down anything and still the order was perfect. Fast forward, Angel came back with our wings. Cooked to perfection and served hot, I mean this wings much have came right out the fryer to our table within a minute. I was impressed. Now, I remember Hooters from years ago and I was never a fan and could not understand why people raved about their wings so much, I was not one of the them! Fast forward to 2021, my husbae and I dined here before a concert at the Hampton Coliseum last month since it was close. Well my husbae wanted wings and suggested we share them. He usually gets the Daytona style wings so we went with that option and ordered two finishes or dipping sauces, I cannot recall. Babeeeee, these wings were bussin!! I don't know what changed, but these wings here and the cocktails on this night...I have to give them 5 stars with the highest respect! This place was busy on Saturday about 6pm, but we were sat within minutes near the bar. Our server, super cute and attentive. A matter of fact, all the ladies in the room in uniform were super cute! Disgusting!!!!! I ordered almost $75 worth of chicken wings for an event. They are running a major scam. They were tiny little drumettes that looked the size of my pinky. 3 pieces would probably equate to 1 chicken wing. What a waste of money. After arriving I waited at least 5 minutes to be acknowledged. The alleged hostess was busy talking to one of her friends, instead of greeting me, or even showing me a table. After getting the table to server was extremely nice however, my wings were extremely undercooked and raw and I am four months pregnant so this is very dangerous. Went to learning the server about the wing. She was very apologetic, and said that the order would be placed for it to come back out cooked right. 15 minutes later I had never received the wings and I told the server to just forget about it I would like to leave. No manager ever came to the table. Nothing was ever rectified. If it wasn't for our server - Zoya. I am 100% sure I would have given this place a full 0 star. She made sure we were well taken care of and made us a priority and I noticed she did the same with every customer in there. We walked in on Tuesday of this week around 7 pm and I would love to give the name of the young lady that was hosting, but I can't. She's a very tall, slim young lady with dark hair (not wearing a name tag). As we were walking in, it was busy which we expected. My boyfriend walked up to her and asked her for some assistance with being put on a wait list - she told him to hold on and walked to the back of the kitchen (where the doors are open and she was very visible) to sit in the back and apply her lipgloss. Once that was done, she came back and walked right past him. Swiped through her phone a bit, when he approached her AGAIN she put him on hold AGAIN and starting flipping through the list of people. About 3 more minutes went by and she finally acknowledged him and put us on the waiting list. After finally giving us a time frame - she pulled out her phone and called a customer from her cellphone and when he didn't pick up she immediately scratched his name out and sat another customer. The gentleman walked in and asked if they had called and she said it was her calling from her cell phone number, he walked in literally less than a minute after he called and she was as unapologetic as she possibly could while telling him that there's nothing she can do since he didn't answer and she sat a party where he was supposed to be. She also mentioned that your location telephone doesn't make outgoing calls (this should probably be fixed). I understand being busy, but making people feel like they're being annoying or that their business isn't welcome or appreciated is very nasty. However, this is the first time I walked in and it truly smelled awful. Had I not been there to meet someone, I would've left b/c the smell was so pungent. It smelled like someone used a dirty mop to clean the walls, floors, tables, etc. It's hard to describe, but if the placed smelled bad, it was hard to trust the food. We stayed but it's going to be REAL hard to choose this place over the plethora of options within the immediate area. The food, can't really go wrong with the wings. It's a staple of the place. So considering I just had wings and fries, it's hard to give a quality assessment on all the food. However, did I like them? Yes. Would I eat them again? Absolutely. I came here today with my two kids and I had a great experience with our waitress Tamia, she was attentive and super sweet this review does not reflect the services she provided she was amazing, I had my two children and like children they were playing between the candies machines. I understand that can be a distraction or a problem but no one addressed me. I'm not ashamed to admit that I've been to a few Hooters in my time..(seriously, I like the wings)...but I have to say that this one ranks toward the bottom of the Hooter's Awesome list. The main reason I have to give this place 2 stars is not the food, for it checks all the boxes on the Hooters' tasty scorecard. No, the reason this Hooters is below average is its oh so weird vibe. I went there with a buddy, and as soon as we sat down, we noticed that the place was loaded with eager regulars who had monopolized the attention of most of the waitresses in the restaurant, including ours. Several of the waitresses stepped outside to hangout with this rather surly looking crew, which I thought was unprofessional. Yes, the Hooters Girls are suppose to joke with, flirt, and charm the customers, but not at the expense of those customers sitting in their section.
