More information: I only confirmed with this business that it was a battery replacement because they initially had forgotten the service I had requested (battery replacement, and they texted me asking if I wanted a "screen replacement", lol...). Also the people I talked to on the phone had initially quoted me for 115 pre-tax for the replacement, but when I spoke to them yesterday, owner tried to pull a fast one and quoted me for 125 (hence my confirming the price as well). After refusing to pay this price he went back to his initially quoted 115. Not a big deal, but it's funny that they tried changing an agreed upon price last second, lol. Scummy business practice honestly, and their replies and comments speak for themselves. Just shady people trying to scam customers. It started on a Sunday when my iPad stopped charging through the USB-C port. I called to ask if they could fix it and how much it would cost. They told me to bring it in so they could test it first. After running a diagnostic with a small device, they confirmed the port had failed and needed to be replaced. They said they could order the part that day and complete the repair the next day. Everything seemed fine at first. The next day, I dropped off my iPad, and about two hours later, they returned it. Before I handed it over, my iPad was spotless. When I got it back, it was extremely dirty, so much so that I couldn't even tell if there were scratches on the screen until I cleaned it. There was also sticky glue residue all over it. I didn't say anything at the time because I just needed the charging port fixed, and my son was waiting for the iPad at home. Once I got home and cleaned it, I tested the charging port, which worked, but then I noticed a large, bright white spot under the screen, almost like an LED shining through. I immediately messaged them with photos, but they were closed and didn't respond even the next day. The next day, I called and explained the issue. They told me to wait while they spoke to the technician who worked on it. After following up multiple times due to slow responses, they asked me to bring it back on the day that technician was working again. When I returned, I showed them the damage. They said they didn't know what caused it but could open it up again to check. After waiting another two hours, I called them, and they said it was ready, but they still couldn't figure out the issue. Once again, the iPad was returned in a very dirty condition. Their solution was unacceptable: they offered either a free screen protector, a case, or a replacement screen, but not an original one. They admitted the replacement wouldn't look as good, function the same, or be as durable. I paid $900 for this iPad, so that's not an acceptable option. I left frustrated. They should either refund the repair cost or properly replace the device. It's hard to believe they didn't notice the bright spot after the repair, it's very obvious. It feels like they tried to hide it under all the dirt, so I wouldn't notice. And saying the damage "it's not that bad" is ridiculous, when you actually use the iPad, the defect is extremely distracting.

So as not to give us false hope, he told us that sometimes older files are unable to transfer to newer devices because of incompatible formats but that he thought there was a good chance he would be successful. We felt Daniel's fees were reasonable and decided to give it a try. Three days later, we got the surprise of our lives. Daniel found a way to recapture the words, photos and music that are so precious to us. He also taught us how to access the material to print out/view/and listen to on our new computer. We are so delighted to see old photographs again, listen to favorite music from the 1950s through the 1970s, and hear the voices of our parents who we recorded many years ago. Daniel's service includes picking up and returning the computers. He also showed us how to label things correctly, create new files, and adjust the audio properly.
